  1. Lets make sure we don't forget an important part of JF's skill set, hes very elusive.

Elusivness equates to taking less hard hits IMO...

So you really believe that there's not even the slightest incremental increased risk for injury based on size/body type?

Hes harder to hit, so it balances out IMO

Note: We could get real technical here to prove a heavier object could have a longer sustained impact because a heavier object is more stationary then a lighter object.

  2. Tough has nothing to do with it. Football is full of tough players. Tough won't help a small in stature QB against a 320lb tackle or 280lb DE or 250lb LB. I don't know how far his talent will take him and don't pretend to, but, my biggest "fear" for his career is and always has been his ability to stay on an NFL field.

He's "little" and fast playing against big fast guys.

perhaps durable is a better word, lol

Lots of small players play in the NFL, Bills had a CB once upon a time that was pound for pound considered one of the hardest hitters in the league at 170 Lbs.

    Injury wasn't a problem...

  3. Kids tougher then most folks give him credit and after watching his highlights its obvious to me JF is going to pick up right where he left off at the collegiate level IMO.

Might take a few games to get comfortable with the Offense/supporting cast, but I expect JF to start tearing up the league just like he said he would this season.

  4. He looks like the same player he was in college. He's actually a good accurate passer from the pocket and he has a rifle. The only question mark for me is, of course, can he take the pounding. No one knows the answer to that yet. He's very, very tough, but these mofos hit hard and don't play nice.

    The Dean sighting today

  5. **tweets I post in this thread are not mine and not necessarily endorsed by me.

@nfldraftscout: I feel comfortable saying EJ Manuel is the NFL's worst starting QB going into the season. Could change, he's young, but needs a lot of work

 Texans are starting Ryan Fitzpatrick , one of the biggest turnover machines in the NFL.

Its an unfair assessmnet to lay on a 2nd year player who spent much of his 1st season injured IMO.

Not to mention new Offense being installed, whole new coaching staff, sub par WR corp,

    list goes on and on...

  6. Re: playbook discussion above -- it's all about execution. Run simple plays flawlessly and you'll be successful. The Bills' skill players on offense appear to be good enough to win the one-on-one battles, so you don't need trickery to create mismatches. You just need EJ to be able to make the read and throw the ball in the right spot -- and there's the rub.

Which reminds me of one of my all-time favorite coach's remarks. When John McKay was asked about the Bucs' execution on offense, he responded: "I'm all for it."

    :D

Well said, its all about putting a hat on a hat and winning your battle.

We are bigger, faster, stronger and more talented then we have been in years.

    Out physical your opponent...

  7. Hogan in as the third receiver over woods again. Never was a hogan fan, but the couple practices I saw last week, the guy is a lock to make this team.

Practice and preseason is as much about evaluating players as it is getting ready to play.

Myself personally, I don't read to much into a player like Hogan with the 1st team because its the best way to evaluate him IMO.

  8. I would say that we watched about 6 games at a fast pace, then they had to slow down because their starting QB went down.

It's no coincidence that they won more games going up tempo.

As for the defense, they were put if against the run all season regardless of how the offense performed.

Wait a minute, you just said we saw it for 16 games...

wait a minute, i thought we were talking about the no huddle pace,

IMO you get the Offensive playbook down 1st before going on to bigger, and in this case faster things,

Now doesn't that make more sense ?

Note: Tuel is getting the plays off in 17 seconds so far this year in practice (average), Bills QB's combined are averaging 20-24 seconds in between plays.

  9. What are your thoughts on a "waterbug" running back and running him up the middle the whole season? Like clockwork, even after it failed game after game.

High ankle sprain be dammed. as much as I was a huge critic of Gailey. i would submit he would do wonders as a OC

For this team today, including the three QB's none of which had any real NFL experience. But, That disaster would fall on the HC

Who deserves more time for sure. Why there is no veteran QB on this team is mind boggling. In his defense though, i found Thad to be exciting when he was in there except for the fumbles. looking forward to the Dolphin slayer getting some playing time this year. At least he lets the deep ball rip.

My thoughts are, it was a new Offense being installed, new coaching saff, rookie /inexperienced QB's, sub par WR corp, and a list of injuries Buffalo had to try and overcome.

We haven't even see the real Marrone/ Hackett Offense yet IMO...

  10. I would add the OC should be dropped to. I have never been a fan of cronyism, while their at it can Crossman today.

I don't buy the lack of ST player argument (2013) for a second. Could they be improved? well every team will say so. But he simply sucks as past records show.

IMO new ST's rules has altered the scheming enough coaches may need a season or two to get back on track.

As far as OC goes I think the coaching staff has been doing a wonderful job with young, inexperienced signal callers.

  11. I like Lewis as the backup unless Tuel REALLY shows something

thats about how I feel John, theres lots to like about Thad Lewis from my perspective,

Shows good leadership, mental toughness, quick release, live arm, seems to have a good handle on the Offense, maybe even better then EJ,

My biggest concern with Thad lewis is small hands which equates to fumbles IMO...
