  1. So, a thread about nfl busts, before their rookie season even begins at TBD. Why am I not surprised? How many players on our team were wrongfully declared busts during their rookie year, much less in August?
I guess player development is for losers.

    Sincerely,

    Terrel “I suck” Bernard

My main motivation would be to reduce the amount of schedule bias, and to ensure a team won’t make the playoffs over a team who has a better record. Let alone get a home game in the playoffs over a team who had a better record.

This is not meant to be a pro Bills thread. Just speaking in general terms about the NFL playoff picture

I am curious why this thread wasn’t posted during our run of 3 straight Afce championships. It can’t be a coincidence.

Aaron Hernandez was also only 20 years old when he entered the league.  When he played his final game in the NFL, he was six months younger than Kincaid was when he played his FIRST game.

So we have a mature player at tight end as a rookie. Cool.

    Here's an idea...

How about comparing Dalton Kincaid to other Rookie Tight Ends, as it's one of the slowest developing positions.

    Dalton Kincaid:

    66 Receptions, 589 yards, 2 TD

Travis Kelce (didn't play rookie season):

    2nd year -- 67 receptions, 862 yards, 5 TD

    George Kittle Rookie:

    43 receptions, 515 yards, 2 TD

    Mark Andrews Rookie:

    34 Receptions, 552 yards, 3 TD

    TJ Hockenson Rookie:

    32 Receptions, 367 yards, 2 TD

    David Njoku Rookie:

    32 Receptions, 386 yards, 4TD

    Zach Ertz Rookie:

    36 Receptions, 469 yards, 4TD

    Jason Witten Rookie:

    35 Receptions, 347 yards, 1TD

    Antonio Gates Rookie:

    24 Receptions, 389 yards, 2TD

Thanks for the perspective. Some here need it once in a while.

I agree he's going to win, but does he deserve it? I think this'll be an all-time weak résumé for an MVP.

Leave Lamar's stats exactly the same, but pretend his defense choked away multiple games like the Bills DEF did. If the Ravens are 11-5 at this point is Lamar even in the top 5 for MVP ?

Are you including the Jets game that Josh lost on his own? He sucked against Denver too. You can’t lead the league in turnovers and be MVP. Lamar is the MVP. Not even close.

Were you visiting Tibet after the Bills lost to the Jets?  A lot of people brought up Allen's bad game. In fact it entered beating a dead horse territory with all the glee & gloating 2BD's resident Allen critics talked abut it.

Again, if it's Allen's fault and not the coaching then are you arguing that the Bills should move on from Allen if we miss the playoffs this year?

I was referring to this thread. As to the  Tibet question, I was here reminding everyone who blamed anyone other than Josh, it was indeed Josh. No glee or gloating. That’s TBD mob mentality with “Cook sucks”, “Bernard sucks”, “Brown sucks” and gloating when they make a mistake. Same crew that somehow forgot they were mocking Edmunds every week in Chicago. Until he shut them the eff up.
To the bold. Please tell me this is a rhetorical question. You know the answer. You’re not dumb. Well, the fact that you even asked that question…

Well. We absolutely needed a linemen so I have no doubt about Torrence. But let’s be real, it’s the first offensive first round pick McDermott has ever made other than Allen. Stats are stats. And half of his 2nd and 3rd rounders have been RBs that don’t even play for the team anymore.

    Stats are stats.

Since 2018(Beanse’s first draft with us): 12 picks in rounds 2 & 3.

They picked 3 RBs: Moss and Singletary and Cook.
    That’s half of a half(1/4)
If you want to include 2017 when Beane wasn’t here yet:

Zay and Dawkins in the 2nd round. We had no 2nd in the 2017 draft.
Since you made it about Mcd:

14 picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds for Mcd: 3 RBs and 1 still here. My calculator broke. Is that even a smaller percentage? Not to mention it would be 1/3 of those RBs not here anymore.

Just doing my part to try and quell false narratives here.

    As an aside, since 2018:

    20 defensive picks

    23 offensive picks

    Since 2017:

    23 defensive picks

    26 offensive picks

So are you advocating that we move on from Allen instead of McD?

    😂😂😂

My post made all the sense in the world. No one brings up the game Josh lost. Why? I put the blame on coaching for the “12 men” penalty. Shouldn’t be hard to acknowledge Josh lost that game. He’s not on the mob’s list as a whipping boy. Guess what? Even with that loss, we’re one win away from a 4th straight AFCE title. Nice coaching job to overcome that huge loss. Doesn’t matter that it was the first game of the season. It’s biting us in the ass right now, as much as the “12 men”. You can’t argue that. So you know the answer to your question.

The defense, against the Zach Wilson-led Jets, sucked in Week 1.

The defense? Really?!? Zach Wilson-led Jets?!

    Zach’s numbers for that game:

    14-21

    140 yds

    1 td and 1 int

If Josh gives the Jets 4 free possessions AFTER a defensive stop, that’s not going to help the team/defense. The defense was not why we lost that game. Not even close. They took out Rodgers in the first drive, for Christ sake. Josh sucked that game and only Josh. The kick return for a TD wouldn’t come into play if not for Josh, not the defense. Did you watch the game? I know it was a while ago, but damn, I don’t know how you’re excusing Josh for that game. Oh, I forgot where I am. The mob is more vocal. Even with dumb 💩 like your post.

I’m sure the jets were thanking Josh all the way home after that game.

By the way, if Josh doesn’t lose that game, where do we stand in the AFCE? First place as of today.

If we beat Miami and get to the playoffs and make it to the AFC championship game at minimum, I say keep him. Missing the playoffs should be absolutely fireable  at a minimum if that comes to happen (I can understand keeping him if we get to the playoffs and lose in the divisional round like always). McDermotts coaching and team building is why we have the issues we do. Disproportionate amount of resources have been invested in a defense that blew the first Patriots game, Broncos game and Eagles game that if we win, has us with a great record right now. Our offensive struggles have a lot to do with his poor choice of OC's and not spending enough resources on the offense to get another stud receiver and better o line.

Interesting that no one brings up the Jets loss. We win that first Jets game (which Josh lost for us), and we’re tied with Miami for the division lead and have the tiebreaker. But, hey, can’t be a Josh problem. Was the 12 men on the field a coaching issue? Sure. Was the Jets game a Josh issue? Yep. By the way, Josh has started a new interception streak.

Has anyone changed their opinion of him over the last month?

This will be an emotional weekend. I’m prepared for a lot of McDermott threads Sunday night if things go poorly. I want to see how we’re feeling entering the biggest regular season game of his head coaching career.

Haven’t changed my opinion. He’s a damn good coach who deserves to be back next year. Even if we lose next week.

The addition of Montez Sweat has changed their defense

Not sure how much Edmunds has made a difference TBH

Sure. I guess he just lucked into the interceptions and forced fumble during this stretch. He has nothing to do with the turn around. 🙄
Typical of TBD to deny this.
Still funny how the mob has shut the eff up on this particular thread.

I was having a blast reading the mob poking fun at me. Where y’all at now? Haven’t heard from you in a while. You disappoint .

It's hyperbole to say that Edmunds was considered "bad".

He was just a huge underachiever in Buffalo........and Terrel Bernard is showing exactly why.

McDermott's defense should make a star out of a MLB............it made Preston Brown the leading tackler in the league in 2017 for chrissakes.........but Edmunds could never do everything from the position.

Bernard has restored what should be "the norm" at the position..........a ton of tackles and big plays of all sorts.

Edmunds has astonishingly made some plays in coverage this season..........but that's the only change.

His production around the LOS is still anemic.......tackle numbers still low........0 sacks 0 QB hits and just 5 TFL to go with 1 FF and 1 FR.

Bernard has not only produced his share of INT's...........but 6.5 sacks, 10 QB hits 9 TFL and 3 FF and 3 FR.

If a player with Edmunds' pedigree and Edmunds' body had done that he might be looking at first team All Pro.

Bernard has only further exposed the deficiencies in Edmunds game...........trying to paint it any other way is foolish.

You’re right, the bears are doing this in spite of their big defensive acquisition this year.😂😂

He’s playing better in Chicago than in Buffalo. Otherwise there would be 100 pages of the mob making fun of him. Wonder why this thread went dead? Right, he shut the mob up. 😂😂

That was the premise of my post. Haven’t heard from the mob since the Bears picked it up on defense. Especially Edmunds.
Foolish is still making fun of him and then shutting the eff up when he balls out. Typical mob mentality.

Terell Bernard is clearly better. And I don’t think Bernard is some defensive All-Pro future HoF talent. And he doesn’t have Milano next to him.

The plays were there to be made in the McD defense. And Tremaine didn’t make them enough.

He’s making plays without Milano in Chicago now. You can 💩 it all you want, but it’s fact.

In fairness, there were a lot of people who loved Edmunds in Bills land.

they have disappeared and walk among us in shadow now.

I’m one of them and have never back away from my thoughts. He was never as bad as the mob claimed. Same folks said Oliver is a bust. Anyway, that bears defense has been kicking ass the past 5 weeks and so has Tremaine.

Apparently we’re too busy complaining about our team to remember this thread. I thought it was going to be a weekly “let’s make fun of Tremaine” thread.  You guys disappoint.
    104 tackles, 4 ints, 1 forced fumble
4-1 in their last 5 games.
Haven't given up more than 20 points in that stretch.
Giving up an average of 15 points per game in that stretch.
2 interceptions and 1 forced fumble in that stretch.
Da Bears were actually in the playoff hunt until last week.
I don’t think this happens without him.

Additional points I’lll add is there is ZERO creativity. Where are the misdirection plays, QB rollouts, naked bootlegs, TE shuttle passes to Knox?

It’s been far too much shotgun out of the pocket with poor route design. Josh gets pressured, then the offense turns into backyard football with Josh making an unscripted play far too often.

Rolling out Josh puts so much pressure on the D. Do the LB’s come up to stop Josh from running or stay back in coverage. It’s a no win situation for them and I’m stunned why we don’t leverage it more.

It seemed like in the first qtr, Brady didn’t have an answer in the passing game so let’s just run Josh.

For whatever reason, the OC and QB refuse to just take the easy stuff.  It doesn’t need to be this difficult.

That’s Josh, not the OC. Actually, not Dorsey either.

  17. 7 minutes ago, ProcessImproverMan said:

One valid criticism of Allen is he doesn't seem to be a film junkie like the elites (Brady, Manning, etc) were. You could tell Brady and Manning both lived and breathed football. Brady basically divorced two women over football when they threatened to get in the way of it, which I do respect quite a bit (if fans are making your hundreds of millions of dollars in income possible, don't let anything come between you and the game I say). Allen spent the off-season golfing and hooking up.

It has to be one reason why Belichick's defense had Allen flustered quite a bit (along with the issues of lack of receiver separation and lack of consistent pass protection). Brady and Manning were so great at getting the ball out in 2 seconds to an open guy to minimize a pass rush, often throwing to guys who were not true number one receivers. Allen seems to lack that ability to dink and dunk down the field in 2 seconds chunk throws like they did. Allen has more highlight splash plays and does a lot more with his feet to make him a very good QB but could do better studying film more and telling his woman to screw off if she gets in the way of that.

That first paragraph is where I stood after last season and during the offseason. I think he’s seen this and is a more mature Josh. He’s still behind and catching up on the film study part. JMO.

Because Diggs just isn't very good right now. I see a lot of Bills fans are afraid to say it out loud. Everyone sees his production has gone down and is grasping for answers. The simplest answer is the correct one. I'm not sure there are 20 WRs he is out playing right now. It's a massive concern heading into the playoffs.

It’s not just Diggs. It starts with the QB and a lot of Bills fans are afraid to say Josh is off too. Surprise, surprise.
Josh has been off lately. I think it started when he turned the ball over FOUR TIMES when he lost the Jets game. But hey, let’s keep excusing him for his play.

  20. 5 minutes ago, Nelius said:

What exactly have you seen from McD to suggest otherwise? It’s a balance of mutual respect at best. He’s not getting in anybody’s face that matters, guaranteed

I see him as the head coach running the show, driving this bus. You didn’t answer: if coach is along for the ride, who’s driving? Josh?😂

Respect is a good thing. These aren’t high school kids.
