  1. Both. Waiting until the last minute to pass the budget is a Congressional tradition, one that the Republicans should be thankful for as the newly elected got a say in its passage.
  2. I think we're on the same page here but in the case of planned parenthood, the Republicans chose an inopportune moment not to cut funding by $1, but to make a political statement using the budget negotiations,That's the sort of nonsense that drives many Independents like me nuts.
  3. And that's coming from a guy who works in the federal government people.
  4. Either way, we now know the final sticking point WAS Planned Parenthood funding and the state block grants that would have effectively cut it off for a lot of states. And pretty sure we can safely say it was the Republican leadership that was holding onto that goal over how to allocate 300M until the last second. Reid was right. It bodes poorly that the Republicans are going to play chicken with social issue bullstojan like Planned Parenthood and NPR--both of which are a tiny sliver of the budget--instead of focusing on bigger spending issues (medicare/caid, social security, military, etc) but why should we be surprised? The right loves its motherment as much as the left. Fiscal Conservatives like Thune will go inspecting men's bungholes and lose political points instead of focusing on the more pressing budget issues.
  5. Hilarious.
  6. Sure, so let's shut down the government over abortion. Awesome. Retards on both sides.
  7. Even that article doesn't answer the question. Reid and others say the sticking points are abortion and EPA regs. Boehner isn't denying that as the sticking points.
  8. That the Republicans are holding up this deal over abortion pisses me off to no end. It's done. STFU and fight about abortion another day !@#$s.
  9. The best pure singer goes. Too funny. For those that say you'll be following her career: No you won't. I had Pia as the heavy favorite. Who is it now? I say Scotty is the favorite followed by Haley. My personal favorites are the romantically linked Casey and Haley. They can't get rid of Stefano, Jacob, and Paul fast enough to cure the embarrassment of Pia's departure at this stage.
  10. Too old and would never win.
  11. Hahahaha what a joke. Nice going teenage girls.
  12. BTW, first night that I liked Paul. Thought he had the second best performance after Scotty. My bet: Jacob because Idol audience is pretty racist. Could be Stefano...outiside chance of Haley.
  13. I think he's an evangelical who lets his Christianity pervade his political beliefs. That's a minus for me. Plus he seems way overly interested in social issues like amending the constitution to forbid same sex marriage--guided by his evangelical roots. Maybe he learned that at the evangelical college he attended. I'm glad you like him. It will be interesting to see what happens if he enters the national stage. I am not a fan and it probably won't matter.
  14. Judging is horrible this season. No one criticizes a thing. Lauren looked horrific. HORRIFIC. Hair. Clothing. Just awful. Then she sings a song about the struggles of being an experienced woman? She's 15 Ffs. Not one criticism. Durban was worse. He's creepy slowed down. The arrangement was painful. He did not sing well and Lamberted several times in a gorgeous song. Jacob is an ass. Man in the Mirror over Let's get it on for moral reasons? Grow up. People get it on. That's part of life. Michael Jackson is not exactly true north on a moral compass either. Rock and Roll night. No one rocked.Worst show of the season. Will.I.Am added not a single useful piece of advice. It's clear someone guides his musical hand.
  15. Both are empty suits. I guess now you feel better? The other guy was bad too. I regret opening your ignored post but it proves I haven't been missing anything.
  16. Thune is pretty damn outspoken about Christ guiding his political decision-making. I have instant distrust over people who talk like that.
  17. Thune is a nobody who's arguably done little more than Obama had done and will have little appeal to the coasts besides that he's good-looking (not to be underestimated). Christie has little appeal to anyone outside the northeast. Personally, I like Christie and would love for him to run but I doubt he will. Can you imagine him in a debate with Obama? He'd send Barack home in tears. Thune is not appealing. He's way too Evangelically Christian and has a bunch of votes on big issues that I do not agree with. He's Romney lite. Laying out the Republican slate like that is disheartening. Maybe they really won't win in 2012.
  18. I haven't listened to AM or FM radio in years. Maybe the occasional rental car.
  19. I hope you're right. If Palin runs as a Republican or third party, it will Perot-up the election and guarantee Obama a win. Faced with a choice of Palin or Obama, I would vote neither like a lot of people. Gingrich, Romney...maybe I could vote for. I would have to see how the election process vets them. Some Republican-haired moderate like Romney is a more likely candidate for sure.
  20. I am like, old-fashioned stuckincincy sometimes. I like calling dropping bombs and arming rebels "war." I know that sort of thinking has been out of vogue since Vietnam.
  21. Pick and roll is the simplest play and before you knock it as too simple, Stockton and Malone used it to get to the Hall of Fame. The trick is the other 3 players need to get the hell out of the way. My other favorite play for that type of league is this. Start with the ball on a wing (preferably in the hands of someone who can shoot so the defense isn't sagging too far off). One player is out at the top of the key and the other is on the opposite wing. The other players are part of the play. Line up one on each box. The player on the box closest to the ballruns through the lane and backpicks the person guarding the teammate on the other box. That player cuts to the hoop and you deliver the ball fast to him. It's just a simple back cut play but at the average pickup level, no one can pick it up. You can also do a high-low back pick just like this. The trouble I found is that guys who never played don't set good picks. A good pick isn't set 2 feet from the guy you're picking. You run up and initiate a little contact so he literally has to push around you. And the guy who breaks has to break the moment the contact is made. Earlier and the pick isn't set. Later and the two players communicate or the guy gets around the pick. I'm a tall skinny guy and I set great picks because I come in and initiate contact--the guy I'm picking is literally off-balance as I set the pick. It's technically illegal to initiate that contact but if you do it without a push, no ref will call it.
  22. Nope. The Republicans are lining up to screw the pooch with a Palin nomination, leaving the Independents no one to vote for.
  23. Add a few new nation-buildings: CHECK! Get sucked into a few more unwinnable wars. CHECK! Tip my hat to the new Constitution.
  24. If a cute white girl gets kidnapped, it's a national story--always.
