Dan Patrick was also talking favorably about this Bills this week, how good it is to see them playing well, much like Detroit. Two old franchises with rich histories, cities with economic problems, etc, etc...
It's cool, but also a little nerve wracking. It's like, OK... When is this all gonna come crashing down? We're Bills fans, so we know it will. It could be in the first quarter this Sunday, or it could be the final seconds of the Super Bowl in February, or any point in between.
When the Bills finally do pull off a Super Bowl win, I think my head will explode.

It took me a while to calculate this, but I found that over the course of 50+ seasons, the Bills have a perfect record, completely undefeated, in games in which they score at least one more point than their opponent. Both at home AND on the road. If that's not a mark of consistency, I don't know what is.
-
Whatever. Point spread matters about as much as power rankings.
Less, even. The spread will change over the course of the week. The Power Rankings will not.

When he signs his next deal with the Bills, you can bet the first phone call he'll get is from the President of Harvard regarding his obligations to support the endowment.
I actually work in educational fundraising at a big university. Trust me: They've already called him. Many times. The question is whether or not he takes the call.

It's clear what Fitz may lack in physical ability he makes up for somewhat with his head. Yes, Chan may be the real football mind, but I remember a quote from him recently on how good Fitz is at synthesizing information. He only needs to be told something once, and he's got it down.
The other thing I really like about him that's refreshing are his press conferences. You don't hear many pro athletes speak in complete sentences with fully-formed thoughts.
Actually, he scored a 48 (out of 50).
I think I remember reading that he intentionally did NOT get a perfect score so that the only other guy to get a perfect score (some kicker who was also from Harvard) would remain the only guy to do it.

I thought I read last year that the No Fun League was clamping down on crowd jumps, for safety, whatever. But they were going to "grandfather" the Packers in and still allow it in Lambeau because they've been doing it forever? Or something? Does anyone else remember that?
Anyway, I think it's cool and a neat visual, but you gotta think.... All it takes is one psycho with a Swiss army knife...

Sounds more like negotiation posturing to me. "No urgency" = "We're not giving any leverage." He is playing with fire if he's up for election this November.
I do hope it gets done, though. I think it was pretty big of Ralph to come right out and say publicly: "Lookit, we don't need the Enormodome replete with nightclubs, restaurants, shopping malls and spas. All we really need are some basic repairs and upgrades to update what is basically a perfectly usable stadium."
Sounds to me like he wants to get a deal done.

Two weeks in a row of not getting run all over.. .at will. We just played 2 explosive, run first teams and held both their number 1 backs to less than 100yds rushing. I'd suggest that he and the whole defense is doing exactly what they need to be doing.
Exactly what I'm thinking. It's because we're not noticing him that he's doing his job right now. Big test will be Ugg Brady and the pass attack next week.

I think thats Larry Fitzgerald
I think you mean Fitzgibbons.

I wish him all the best, and he can certainly afford the best care there is, but a broken hip for anyone of advanced age is almost always followed by a decline. Hopefully his resources will help slow that decline and soften the inevitable.

Oh no, what are their fans going to do? Shoot us?
-
ESPN (or any of the other big outlets) doesn't care about reason, logic or objective analysis. It's about generating outrage, disbelief, more clicks (and thus more ad revenue) because "ZOMG look how some pencil-neck is disrespecting us."
The only power rankings that matter are the standings.
Go Bills.

I bought one as well. I don't think Fitz is a franchise QB, but assuming he doesn't royally screw the pooch, I think he's the kind of player fans will look back on fondly years from now. Like, "Hey, remember that dude with the beard? Went to Harvard of all places, loved to chuck the ball around? Wasn't really an HoFer, but was still fun to watch? That guy was awesome."

The Giants and 49ers still play at Candlestick, no?
Niners are still at the Stick. Giants play in the new Pac Bell park or whatever it's called now.
-
*Random thought while watching 'fins last week: Is that the only stadium (Miami) that still has a baseball infield track in place until November?
I'm pretty sure Oakland still does too. It's gotta hurt to get tackled on infield dirt.

Shame about Elzy. I work for UNC and was happy to see the Bills sign like 4 Heels this offseason. Is Pianalto still on the roster?
-
Does Bentley know it's JagUARS and not JagWIRES? He's terrible.
Lol, I was just saying the same thing. It's obviousy preseason for the announcers too.

One word, "No".......Direct, to the point, and absolutely no hesitation when answering. That is what a coach does. What did you expect?
It is what anyone with good PR/media training does. If a reporter is dumb enough to ask a closed-ended, yes/no type question on a touchy subject, you answer yes/no and move on.

brown knows the playbook better
brown is the player that may end up on the 53, ps, or street.
evaluate the unknown that is ready to play, or play a guy that is a known quantity and unprepared?
Was going to say exactly this. Plus, Thigpen barely had a week of practice with a new team and new system.

My wife was a special ed teacher back in 1999-2000 or so, when training camp at Fisher was still a new thing. They took the class on a field trip to camp one day. Now this was a group of about a dozen kids, all of whom had some pretty serious issues, profoundly mentally and physically disabled. This was back in the Flutie days.
Anyway, they had the class there, and after practice, Flutie took time to visit, talk, sign autographs and take pictures with each and every one of those kids even though it was a super-hot summer afternoon. The kids, parents, teachers, everyone, was pretty thrilled. My wife said he couldn't have been a nicer guy and was just so great with the kids. His son has autism, so obviously disabled kids are pretty close to his heart, but he just went above and beyond that day.
Also, funny side note, my wife is all of five feet tall, so everyone of "average" height and above looks pretty tall from her perspective. But still, she was surprised by how short Flutie was.

I love getting the reports from down here in Chapel Hill, especially since the Bills keep picking up Tar Heels like they're going out of style!
-
Admittedly, I've never played a down in the NFL.
He was free to go where he wanted, but if he really didn't want to play in a 3-4, why did he express his desire to stay in Buffalo?
Because he was in the middle of negotiations and didn't want to give up any leverage.
-
doesn't say much about Posluszny's willingness to take on a challenge.
Easy enough for you to say from behind a keyboard, but that's the wrong way of looking at it. It's like a flyball pitcher not wanting to pitch for the Rockies. You go where your talents are best suited.
I, for one, wish him nothing but the best.

I don't think anyone told the media anything. IIRC, it was a Chicago reporter who pieced it together by identifying owners' private planes landing at O'Hare.
From where will YOU be watching the game?
