A player that gets cut has an "edge" or "ax to grind" to prove that team wrong.
That's a lot more motivating than a player who just signed a big contract to the highest bidder.
-
gitterdun, why not?
-
Maybe, but he needs this kick in the pants to motivate him.
-
I think this says that the Bills want to see what the opponents will do now that Lee Evans isn't drawing double coverage.
Are they going to double cover Stevie if he's just running slants and short routes?
Run support?
Maybe they want the safeties to cheat in so they can sneak Spiller or others deep and hit some big plays.
How did opponents play us when Lee was hurt?
-
I know that Williams had the long completion and the PI penalty against him, but his coverage on the completion was very good and his interception was spectacular. He just has the look of a player that is physical and dangerous to throw at.
Not to mention there was ZERO pass rush. You can't cover forever.
-
Awesome! Do you have one for the first half somewhere?
-
This basically says they didn't want to risk putting someone NFL ready on the practice squad... so better to have a 4th rounder and not cut anyone.
-
Look guys, even if we signed Tyson Clabo, that doesn't change our depth. One injury to Clabo and we're back where we started.
This is football, injuries happen all the time.
We are doing it the right way, taking it slow and developing our guys as a team.
It's not going to happen overnight with a quick fix.
-
Funny. Well done.

When was the last time you actually heard "Screen" from a Bills offense and didn't smack your forehead?
The number of TE touchdowns, screens, etc. is definitely exciting this year out of camp.
Flashes memories of TT and Pete Metzelaars

His heart is in Buffalo... no Cinci... no SF.
WTF
-
Worst case: Reggie Bush the past few years (over drafted decoy)
Best case: Jamaal Charles
-
yes Kelsay had 1 more sack last year but I'd rather have Lawson because he's not a joke in coverage and can actually make a tackle in the open field.
I went to a niners game a few years ago in SF and this guy popped at me during plays.
I actually thought he was Patrick Willis for a few plays... he'd come out of nowhere to disrupt run plays for little to no gain.
-
Early thought is that he'll take Heard's spot on roster... Heard been said to look slow on multiple reports (without the pads on at least).
-
Vanden Bosch is a beast, but he's also had two big injuries since 2008...
why is he so superior to Merriman or Barnett?
-
I'd be excited if we got one of these guys:
Ryan Harris, OT Denver
Manny Lawson, LB SF
Zach Miller, TE Oakland
-
Profootballfocus had barnett rated above Ray Lewis in 2009 in his transition year to a 3-4

Done. Or sign Manny Lawson, put him in for Kelsay.
Would love Lawson if he's healthy...
What's more sad... Kelsay on first unit or Maybin on second unit?
-
Clabo's apparently been miffed at ATL for a few months now... maybe there's an actual shot he's not just using us to drive up his price.
-
So with the talk of camp fitz for the offense, can the defense do anything together in an organized fashion?
If not, maybe this is also why we went so heavy on defense this year with the pending lockout.
-
I'm not buying this at all, seriously.
There was a lot of chatter with a lot of teams wanting to move up into end of round 1.
And apparently the Titans and Vikings believed that rumor and stayed pat and "reached".
-
If true, this confirms the widely-held belief that the Bills only considered two QBs from this draft class…Cam Newton and Christian Ponder…to be "franchise quarterbacks."
Thanks for spilling the beans Andre Reed. JK.
-
Agreed. I like the guy's size. I like his story. But there's a reason he was a 7th rounder. Not saying that he can't grow into something great, but come on, we just drafted Marcell freakin' Dareus and all the excitement is about our last round pick?
Everyone loves an underdog. That's also why they made the pick.
-
Because they couldn't fire the guy that had a majority of the info on what direction they wanted to go in the draft. The new season for those guys started Monday so that is why he is gone at this point.
When Nix came aboard, Modrak was probably already scouting juniors and seniors... so this year was probably the last group being scouted under Modrak.
He's transferred all his knowledge.
Please express how you feel about tonight

Denver looked hungry, even in a preseason game.
*EDITED*
If you didn't know better, you would have thought Von Miller was the one who said "“I’m going to make it hell for them every time I play against them”.
We looked like a rag tag band of guys who show up every week to play, but have other jobs.
