Miami will take Ryan Tannehill at 8 now.
-
IMHO, since we went "all in" with Mario, the #10 pick has to be someone who will we think can start right away.
Do we think Floyd can?
-
It's even better for us because Mario is lined up against their RT.
-
That is a pretty scary 3rd and long front with Mario, Merriman, Dareus and Kyle.
If we can take a big lead early, that is going to be huge.
-
As Per Rotoworld
Bills GM Buddy Nix says DE/OLB Mario Williams will play left defensive end, and that the Bills have no interest in using him as an outside linebacker.
Is he going to be LDE? If so, then we may still be in the market early for a speed rusher.
-
What would Mario Williams bring to Bills?

What would be the starting lineup? How do Merriman and Kelsay fit in?
-
We are rolling with Fitz. That money is better spent on Mario Williams.

Financially speaking... does someone know if it is even possible for us to stay under the cap if we:
1) Re-sign Bell and Chandler reasonably
2) Sign top tier DE (Williams, Abraham, Mathis)
3) Sign top tier WR (Bowe, Vincent Jackson)
Then we'd be in a really good spot to draft best available at LT, DE, WR and we wouldn't feel compelled to reach.
-
I know we're busy hating on ourselves, but check this out, maybe you'll feel slightly better:
-
We did get a QB coach against a division rival... that says something. Maybe some players will jump on that bandwagon too.
We turned some heads earlier this season, maybe other players took notice.
-
I'd settle for anyone that can catch and hold balls in traffic. Would make a gunslinger like Fitz look a lot better.
-
Glad to see Whitner still tackles like he did in Buffalo. He wiffed on the last two Saints TD's. Go Niners!
Haha saw that too. He owes Vernon Davis dinner.
-
The knock on Dalton that kept him from being a top prospect is arm strength.
AJ Green made him look pretty decent I'd say. We need our own elite WR... sorry Stevie.
-
Man you bring up a great point. The defense really hasn't been effective since we lost Schobel. He was our only real outside pass rusher. Nix even said it himself the whole defense should get better with an improved pass rush and if you give an NFL QB that much time "they will wear you out".
That being said don't reach for a pass rusher. As someone else said BPA. If that happens to be one of the top 2 LTs because the premier pass rushers are off the board then get an LT. It's a position of need. Good teams have a guy they know is THE guy at LT not a bunch of fodder that they rotate in and out waiting for projects and experiments to pan out.
We need a passrusher in the worst way. Being able to stop the other team = more running the ball = fewer picks for Fitz
We need pressure in the worst way... i say "overpay" any eilte player willing to come here.
-
It's likely going to be LT, DE/OLB or WR unless a very clear elite player fell. Buddy pretty much said so and he's a straight shooter.
In prior years we were so bad that we just took "best available".
I hope we trade down though in a scenario we can't take one of the three above.
-
How's our salary cap situation looking?
I know we were way below last year, but how's it shaping up post Fitz contract?
Can we afford to:
1) Sign our free agents we want back: Stevie, Bell, Chandler, etc.
2) Take care of Fred
And then
3) Sign a big name passrusher
4) Sign a big name WR
-
We need both LT and a pass rush. We should really go after a premium pass rusher in FA.
It's interesting how the wheels fell off after Schobel retired.
We can't get a good feel of how good this D is without one... it's priority #1.
-
The Bills allowed very few sacks and Jackson and Spiller averaged 5 yards a carry. Why is OT so important?? The Bills pass rush had only 26 sacks, ten in one game, thats what is important. You want to fix something thats not broke.
The theory is:
We didn't allow sacks because we made so many quick throws. Then defenses came up to bump us at the line. A good left tackle might buy us more time in the pocket to make the downfield throws.
-
What if they give that catch to Stevie Johnson and we beat the Bungles that day? We kill more time, put some points on the board and win.
How many times are we going to say "what if stevie did this" before we get sick of it?
3 winning seasons in 21 years. One playoff appearance doesn't mean their fortunes are turned around yet.
I'd take a playoff appearance from us and some extra real picks from team cancers any day.
I seem to recall a lot of "at least we're not the Bengals" comments last offseason. Now look.
We're right back where we started.... watching the other cellar dwellers climb out while we swim in ineptitude.
-
With a LOWER pick, they managed to get a franchise quarterback/WR tandem.
They dumped TO and Ocho cancers and managed to trade Carson Palmer...
And they made the playoffs... in one year.
Sigh
-
I'd pick the Rams... young moldable franchise quarterback, weak division, high draft picks.
Better team to put his stamp on.
-
I want the pass rusher who is big and physical and has had more than one season of production...period...we NEED to hit on this pass rusher, and I agree that unless we sign someone via free agency (ala Robert Mathis - aint happenin though) we need to address pass rush with the first pick, and probably even if we do sign pass rusher in free agency
other POTENTIAL positions: WR and CB (and honestly we need help at both of those spots too)
Unless Blackmon or Jeffrey fall, I don't think WR will happen in round 1.
I think that we think our corners are fine, we just need a passrush.
We'll probably take another corner late.
-
Personally, I think there is little doubt that the Bills want to select a passrusher at #10 overall, unless some elite talent falls.
Thoughts on the following players?
Quinton Coples, DE, N. Carolina
Andre Branch, DE, Clemson
Melvin Ingram, DE, S. Carolina
Courtney Upshaw, OLB, Alabama
Whitney Mercilus, OLB, Illinois
Waive Kelsey, draft Quinton Coples DE North Carolina

DW has said he wants up to 9 DLineman to rotate through... so I think we'd keep Kelsey with Coples.
