Whaley dared to compare his blocking to another Steeler... Hines Ward.
Check him out blocking here on special teams. And he looks like he has good acceleration on his great hitch and go.

Another factor is that I think first round picks get an extra year in their contract than 2nd rounders... which means IMHO, there will be a ton of QB trades at the end of round 1.
-
in his mock, Dee Milliner, Chance Warmack & Dion Jordan are all still on the board. all of them are better than Austin.
Dee Milliner has medical red flags.
Nix won't take a guard that early... we specialize in poaching them off other teams.
I don't think Dion Jordan makes it this far... Cardinals would pick him up over a guard methinks.
-
Unfortunately, this sounds like a real possibility if we don't go QB. We need a hard hitting safety for Pettine and WR's are deep this year.
I would like this more if we can trade down and get two later first rounders.
This draft should be really interesting.

KC, Jacksonville, Raiders, Eagles, Browns, Cardinals and Jets could all easily take a QB before us in round 2.
Many of these teams have new coaches as well.
Stop dreaming about a QB in round 2.
It will be round 1.
That is all.

Anyone have time to apply the Parcells rule on the QB class?

or powned as my kids like to say, dumbest thing ever, kids
Actually, technically it's "pwned"

Perhaps. I guess maybe I should rephrase. If I was a general manager and was offered Tony Romo for a 1st round pick, i'd immediately hang up the phone. I'd counter offer with a 5th. Romo isn't winning any superbowls and if you invest a first round pick on a QB, that's exactly what you are expecting, a superbowl winning QB.
Didn't Carson Palmer go for a 1st after sitting out a season?
-
Whisenhunt is the perfect example of why coaching in the NFL is overrated.
The guy nearly wins the Super Bowl when he has HOF QB Kurt Warner playing, and then can't put together a decent season without him.
Any semi-competent coach can win in the NFL with a great QB.
But everyone in the league thought Warner was done after his season with the Giants... and he was the backup initially.
-
Only results matter. Sometimes you have to fire the coach to light a fire under the players. Chan wasn't getting wins out of the Bills so it's time to try someone who might.
I like Chan, but he made a lot of questionable moves and his play calling was erratic, questionable and seemingly predictable.
-
It seems obvious that the GM would report to the owner and see if the two have the same vision for what will happen in this upcoming draft (ahem select a QB). Also, needs to find a coach who can win immediately with said new QB in the mold of Wash, Cinci, Seattle, SF, etc.

That has little to do with Dalton. But ok.
Really, funny how the bungals were the bills just a few years ago, before drafting Dalton + AJ Green.
-
You do realize, that Andy Dalton's stats are almost identical to Fitz's this year, right?
Except he's in the playoffs... and we are not
-
We knew we were going to fire Chan anyway.... and now we have to leapfrog Arizona for a QB.

the team with the great qb? i dont think anyone expected doormats. perhaps some growing pains at times but never a disaster.
C'mon... they gutted like half the team. Everyone opponent had them pegged as an easy win. Including us.
Look at the new QBs for: Dolphins, Redskins, Seattle. List goes on. We will 100% reach for a QB this draft.
-
Somebody who can immediately start our newly drafted QB and knows how to win immediately.
Interesting how everyone pegged the Colts as doormats and now looks who's laughing.
-
All the players say they want to be back. When they say this they're as good as gone. The only way he's back with the Bills is if he's franchised. Can't blame the guy. Get the money to support your family and sign with a team that has a chance to win.
+1
As fans, we have suffered so much... you can't blame him for wanting to go too.
I would too frankly.
-
After all he's/we've been through, he most likely looking for change. Unless he's franchised, he's probably gone.
We gotta sign Byrd fast then franchise him if the numbers make sense
-
I still don't understand why you opt to kick when you win the toss and you have the worst defense in the league. Then in press conference, you say that the game situation dictated that you couldn't run the ball.

If you're the pats/jets/fish I bet your thinking is turning to "holy crap we better draft some O-Line - we gotta play the Bills twice a year"
But we could pick an OT in round 1 before them
-
>> Bills signed DE Mark Anderson to a four-year, $27.5 million contract, with $8 million guaranteed.
Wow... that seems like a lot... is he worth that?

Hope is alive... we look like we can actually move the ball. And Indy players keep getting "hurt"... to slow us down.
