  1. Would Cody be far too much of a reach to select him first knowing the tackle's in this draft are pretty deep? By the look of the comments here apart from Okung all the remaining tackles have question marks about them. Obviously if we could trade back to get a later first round pick then Cody wouldnt be a reach at all and that would be ideal but I really dont see him being there when we select in the second.

  2. Year 1 was 2008. The NFL is a "what have you done lately for me" league. Two years into a pro career and I expect a guy not to be one of the most heavily penalized players in the AFCE.

The LT position is too critical to the overall success of the entire offense for bargain bin type players. Bell is a wonderful story, and it's changed my take on his father, but hoping and wishing players succeed has left the Bills 0-4 in playoff appearances since 2006/

Sorry to be pedantic but logically speaking someone HAS to be the most penalised in the AFCE. :worthy:

  3. Is it worth taking the risk of drafting Dan Williams DT and hoping Davis falls to the second round?

I really dont like the look of Williams. I would be far happier getting Cody or even Cam Thomas in the 3rd and using the 1st pick on an OT.

  4. I read these postings everyday on this site and I'd say 90% of them are all negative comments about either our coaching staff or current players. Kind of strange that so many people call themselves a Bills fan but yet do nothing but trash the team and give their great insights why good players will be bad and why bad players will be good. Kind of pathetic!

Part of being a fan of a team is wanting that team to win-Badly! Fans have put up with a decade of losing, and have continued to route the team on. If you just ignore the constant losing, poor organizational management, poor ownership, bad coaching, etc. than you are the one who is pathetic and not even close to being a "Real Fan."

Both of you are wrong. I have been reading this site for a long time but only just signed up to post anything. I see all kinds of posts, some of which are total crap, but most posts are insightful making me reconsider my views which can only be a good thing. I hope people dont find this offensive but there are people who like to B word (for example BillsGuyInOrchardPark) and some people who are positive (e.g. Astrobot) but though they are coming from different views both post intelligent well thought out arguements. The thing EVERYONE has in common though is that come game time, whether they are buying into the direction the coaches/players are taking us, they will be cheering, wishing, hoping and praying that the Bills win and thats what a fan does. I dont think anyone can decry a Bills fan as we have had a terrible decade or so but we are still hoping beyond hope for a good year, together.

  5. I didn't say "high character" (that was Dick's schtick). Never heard he was a problem in the clubhouse or on the field (except for being a penalty machine two years ago).

Sorry, I knew what you were getting at but why let that spoil a witty retort?

It did make me laugh though thinking that they signed Green and then followed it up by signing Davis who we saw gouging someones eye. Are we the new raiders in more ways than one?

  6. Unfortunately not a good risk/reward profile. Besides Nix and Gailey seem to steer clear of talented but troubled players viz Incognito. They seem to prioritize discipline on the field and chemistry in the clubhouse. Still, wishing S. Andrews all the best, first and foremost in life and in football too, assuming he ever plays again, which seems doubtful.

haha They signed a OT who beat his wife with a mop handle!

  7. I dont mean to offend anyone who battled this condition but how depressed can you be as a young 27 year old making millions of dollars a year playing a sport? I know there is probably more that we dont know about but still...

Back here in Britain there was a brilliant show on a few weeks ago dealing with exactly this. Sportsmen who have to deal with depression and the impact its had on their lives. It is very misunderstood in fairness to you. I will see if I can find it so I can add a link here. It was very insightful.

    EDIT:

Its called Mind Games: Depression in Sport. It was done by the BBC and you can download it on most torrent sites if your interested. Its well worth it even if you dont like cricket

After reading this article I wonder who would take Davis in the second round if his stock does fall that much. That he's talented there is no doubt but would you take the risk? Imagine drafting two OL's in the first two rounds and trading back into the second to get Cody? With peoples stocks falling as has been reported you could have a draft you'd not have dreamt of a few weeks ago with for example, 1st Bulaga, 2nd Cody, 2nd Davis, 3rd Spikes. I knows its unlikely but its far more realistic than it was mere weeks ago.

  9. I know everyone is down on him but just watching him running out front for jackson he certainly has heart. you think if the bills address the O-Line we can actually stick with him next season? When given time he looks solid enough. No doubt I will get harrassed for this

  10. Gee, that's a great idea. Let's pass on players that will start from day one and be a mainstays for a decade and instead use our first round pick for a quarterback that has to learn to throw all over again just to get drafted.

Maybe after a few years he might get to play! Yeah, Tebow would be great - people know his name and he was on a commercial and everything!!!!!!

    I love this plan.

I dont see anywhere where I said this is what the Bills should do. I am just asking if they do take Tebow is there anyone of any value later in the rounds?

Astrobot, thanks for the analysis. There does seem to be some depth if the do pass on a tackle in the first round. Personally I hope they will trade back as much as possible and get as many 2nd and third rounders out of it as possible.
