Buddy Nixon and I highly doubt that anyone would be promised a promotion before their first day on the job. Promised that he would be considered? Perhaps. Anything more is hogwash.
Even be put in a position to ensure he is immersed in situations which will increase his experience in readiness for promotion but I agree, not going to promise him a promotion.

hey we could get the Band back together, London Barnett Moats. Just need some background vocals
Haha brilliant.
RE spikes.

Dansby would signify to me that they feel ready to challenge next year as it really would be a very short term gain.
-
I also thought he signed a relatively big deal with NO last offseason
I think he's referring to Donald Butler but I could be wrong.

Fantastic, thanks very much.

Dont want to hijack a thread here but what is wrong with getting spikes? He's the run stuffing LB we need. The attitude I can deal with, we have a strong enough locker room to deal with that,
-
Yeah he's had some info before on certain things that have come into fruition. I think he spoke about Manny Lawson before anyone else. Don't quote me on that. Either way its nice to hear something positive.
He's also hear that the Bills will be targetting LB in free agency. Happy with that too. Spikes would be good.

He's been updating the situation on twitter. Give him a follow.

Byrd has told the team he is more than interested in resigning. He liked the D coach hires, and loves Henderson. Excited for the future.Byrd told his agent he wants to have something solid before March 1st. I think the Bills step up and complete this. Via sourceAnother nugget. Pepper Johnson was signed to become the future DC if and when Schwartz gets another HC gig. That was our promise. The Bills will sign Jairus Byrd within the next 2 weeks. Count it!

Are there any good draft podcasts out there? I have searched around and can find nothing that isnt team specific.

The whole point was just that, to tell the story not often told. Everyone hears about the people who are successful but not necessarily about those who did not make it. To know what it was like to be cut, to know what its like to always be on the periphery but never quite get where you hoped. Thanks for taking the time to read it though and I appreciate your points you made.

I don't know if i am even allowed to share this on here, if I am not allowed I will take it down immediately, but I recently conducted an interview with Rajric Coleman and wrote an article based on Rajric and his rise through high school and college ultimately to the NFL. Rajric was here as an UDFA the year of the lock out and I just thought it would be interesting to tell the story of someone who wasn't a star really. There's also an audio interview linked which Rajric did later with my friends at "Overtime Ireland" which is excellent. Anyway if you are interested I have included the link here. I hope you enjoy.

and ryan leaf wasnt a number one pick.

It's technically 2-1/2 weeks to the draft
He'll be there in the 2nd
He won't get passed the bears at #20. Not a chance he gets to the second. Last year Kuechly was going mid to late first. Brown will be the same.
-
Get Arthur Brown. Simple as that. Ray Lewis V2.0
-
It actually touches on something I have been thinking about. If Buddy thinks this is our year does he trade away next years picks to get more this year? If this is the year that we go for it. Just a question.
-
I'm sure that in the last few drafts a few of our picks said they were surprised that the Bills drafted them as they hadn't shown any interest. However I don't know if they would do that with a first round pick.
-
I think people forget that injuries affect everyone not just the player who is out. However, last year, at 5-2 We had a number of players who were actually talked about as probowl players. Wilson Barnett, Byrd, Freddie, Levitre and Wood. We just need a less injury prone season to start filling these lists with Bills.
-
Hope you get better soon pal.
-
You guys are forgetting that the rookies with the new collective bargaining agreement dont get the big monry anymore and the 6 million is way too high. We also can get rid of Kelsey and edwards for 11.5 million and restructure more deals to get more room we have roughly about 25 million to spend on free agents and that is probably 3-5 players because once the season starts they dont have to be under the cap.
Not just that but surely every team has to find $15m to sign rookies also. With the league average being $11m then there appears to be a discrepancy here? Or have I got that all wrong?

Weeks would have been a better term to use. But you're exactly right, the next week will be the most interesting week until draft time.
I think free agency is more interesting than the draft this year. The draft is about the future but reading what Nix said I think we will be seeing how confident they are in the team being competitive this year. I think they believe they can win right now and will spend big. We'll see but I am looking forward to the next few weeks more than I have in years.
-
Not everyone is jumping off the bandwagon. I won't post much this week because it sickens me to read the board after a loss, but I'm fully supportive of this team and its leadership.
Couple of Ws the next two weeks, and the 7-3 Bills go to NJ for a little payback.
+1
I'm the same. I don't tend to come on here a lot when we lose. Totally behind the team and the coaching staff.

Seriously that is a wonderful piece. Well done.

Back to the topic in hand, can the bills negotiate a contract with Byrd now or do they have to wait?
