  1. I don't feel sorry for him at all, he sucked. You guys want to cuddle up to him and make excuses because he was the clipboard holder here for so many years. He sucked as an OC in NFLE and sucked as a QB coach here.

Agreed. Too often we want to stay with the familiar and it may be what's killing us.

PS -Don't forget that he sucked as a QB too. Great guy though. Met him in Myrtle. Good people. Have no idea what he did to earn the job in Tampa, but good luck.

  2. The reason that everyone jumped on you is that this is not a new idea. It's been rehashed over, and over, and over again, and most people understand that it is unlikely to happen, mostly because of the $ involved.

Well, my apologies then. I haven't seen a trade down or trade up scenario on this board. When I think that the Bills could have traded up 1 spot to get Willis and 1 spot to get Rottenbiker, I think we missed an opportunity that other teams are willing to take advantage of. Teams move around all the time. If the situation is right, why NOT us?

  3. The idea of someone trading into the top 10 because they don't want to pay two second round picks is a bit flawed, considering they'll pay millions more just for the # 9 pick than they would for the other three players combined.

    Last year's #9: Green Bay - DT, B.J. Raji, Boston College - Signed (5-years, $28.5M; $17.7M guaranteed)

    Last Year's #22: Minnesota - WR, Percy Harvin, Florida - Signed (5-years, $14.25M max; $8.425M guaranteed)

    Last Year's #47: Oakland (fr. NE/SD) - S, Mike Mitchell, Ohio - Signed (4-years, $3.778M; $2.028M guaranteed)

    Last Year's #53: Philadelphia - RB, LeSean McCoy, Pittsburgh - Signed (4-years, $3.497M; $1.727M guaranteed)

The only way someone is trading up to that pick is if they feel a difference maker is still available at that position. This being the deepest draft in recent memory, I just don't see it happening.

    Excellent post.

  4. My god people. I just grabbed NE out of thin air cause I knew they had extra picks and was wondering what we could expect to get FROM ANYONE if we dropped down 10 spots. Okay...I concede...Belicheck will never do this. THE RELEVANT QUESTION IS: SHOULD WE???

Maybe trading down would be worth looking at if QBs, OTs and McClain are gone by 9th pick. Maybe not. But I'd rather explore new ideas than rehash old Bills greats, Sabres games and what Phil Simms thinks about anything.

  5. Cottrell did little more to distinguish himself than watch Bruce play.

How about Joe Vitt for DC? He's the Assistant Head Coach of the Saints and has been coaching defenses for years. He's the most qualified among the SB participants and that would explain the delay.

    Not inspiring, but logical.

  6. An example of a trade that did happen. In 2008-No. 8: Ravens to Jaguars. Baltimore traded its first-round selection to Jacksonville for Jacksonville's first-round selection, two third-round selections, and fourth-round selection (No. 26, 71, 89, 125).

Just throwing it out there. What if Bulaga , McClain, Bradford and Claussen are gone and NE is hot for pass rusher (JP Paul)? Not sure NE would do it, but that's what a trade out looks like.

Hey, what impact have we gotten out of 11, 13, 13 and 8?

  7. I hope Belicheck wants to get into the top 10. The Bills could trade their 1st (9) and 3rd (72) to the Pats for their 1st (22), 2nd (47) and 2nd (53). The point chart has us giving up 1580 and getting 1580. After the deal, we would have 22, 41, 47 and 53 instead of 9, 41 and 72.

I'm thinking the Pats might not want to pay 3 second rounders and it makes sense for the Bills rebuild to do this deal. Consider that Bflo got Wood, Byrd and Levitre in that span last year.

  8. Bull ****. 4-3 or 3-4 you need LINEMEN. We need a QB above all things first on this team. Then DL and a LT. THEN linebackers.

BTW if you are trying to sit there and claim we need a stud at OLB in the 3-4, you better start with the NOSE TACKLE, because without a pure stud there, the whole defense goes to ****.

C'MON GUYS.....YOU NEED BOTH!!! Whatever scheme your running, your front 7 has to be solid. And right now we have Kyle Williams, Poz and maybe Schobel. The rest is garbage. Whatever round you draft them in or street corner you pick them off, we need players. 7 of them. Just becase they, for example, pick McClain in the 1st and a DT in the 3rd, doesn't mean LB is more or less important. DL holds position, LB fills gaps. How about a Pat Williams (free agent), Damato Peko (3rd round), Brett Keisel (7th round). Enough of this DL/LB debate.

  9. Do you guys not know how to click links or are you just thick headed? You can say you think anyone you think is the best. It just so happens the guy I said was the best, is in fact the best, and I backed it up with his draft from last year, the one before that, and the one before that.

Mayock is also very good and I respect his evaluations on players. I remeber he absolutely hated James Hardy and thought the guy would crap out in the league. So far he's dead on in that assesment.

I still think it's funny that the majority of responders to this thread think picking 15/32 players to the correct team in last years draft is not noteworthy and that "joe schmo" picks better than that. I will be offering a $100 cash prize to anyone who matches or beats 15/32 in the 2010 draft (no copying other mocks, obviously). When the time comes nearer I'll make it official, this way everyone can see how difficult it is to peg players to the right team especially once you get out of the top 10 picks.

Not even Nawrocki would say 15 out of 32 is typical.....unless he wanted to sell more draft books. I wold put his over/under at 10 this year.

  10. I've been digging around on the computer today and I'm surprised on how high Bulaga is being projected. As high as 5 and no lower than 20. One mock even had him going to the Bills. Bulaga in the top 15 is starting to make sense. I did the 1st third of my mock and the Bills are tough because they draft behind Al Davis.

Right now, it's between McClain and OT Davis with Claussen going to equally egotistical Shanahan and Bradford matching up well with Holmgren in Cleveland.

I put Davis in there, but if Al Davis takes Tebow or some other 3rd rounder, maybe we go Bulaga. Just an early thought.

  11. Read the following article, it's a real quick read:

This guys is in fact an expert. He scouts games in season. He attends the all star games. He attends the combine. He knows a ton of front office guys (aka inside info as to who teams are likely to select). He is also paid handsomely and the head of one of the better websites covering the NFL. He does his own scouting and creates his own predictions and value charts, with the input of front office execs., unlike 98% of the other mock drafters who truly are just guessing.

Find me one mock draft that has been better than his in the last 4 years. At least do your research and know what your posting about before you open your verbal attack.

That is great about Nawrocki's last year's draft, but I've been as high as 13 correct picks and I just follow it casually. And we pick 24 hours before the draft, not 4 hours. It's not that hard. There is so much information out there, we all think we know something.

All I know for sure is I hope we take a solid football player and I wish we still had Bill Polian.

  12. Nawrocki is no Buchsbaum and I think he is reaching all over that board (Bulaga at 5!!??). Now, I presume he's done more research than I have, but it's not consistent with anything I hear on Sirius or on other websites.

    If he's even close, he's a genius.

As long as it's O Line or front 7, a football player and not combine stats, I'm happy.
