It would be more of a death sentence for his career. The Bills are a weak little finesse team that plays in the cold. They need to change this before getting a qb who would probably be rendered useless due to poor blocking and a porous front 7.
My friend, for years you have been screaming for one qb or another. They get in there, get killed, and then you say that they "suck." The truth is that they will all continue to suck until this team is built appropriately. I am fully positive that not 1 NFL team is the least bit intimidated by our weak little team that was built upon the foundation of defensive backs and gadget players.
The Jets waited until they were strong to make a big, risky move at a quarterback. It worked, and the Bills would be wise to do the same. Common sense and history tells us this.
BINGO!! Couldn't agree more.

If it's between Trent and anyone on the roster, it's Fitz.
Scary thing is, in '09, Edwards had a higher completion percentage and QB rating. Both threw 1 more INT than TD. If you look at stats, there was absolutely NO improvement when Fitz took over. Niether would hang their hat on '09, not should they. I think Fitz is garbage and has a longer resume to prove it. TE may be as well. Maybe it's Brohm beacause we have less proof of how bad he can be.

And neither Losman nor Edwards did anything to deserve being called d*bags.
What about JP's beard?
-
Losman's clock was off. If he got the ball out on time, he looked like a solid NFL QB. Likewise when he ran. But he's the polar opposite of Manning when it comes to diagnosing the play and getting the ball out. And he just didn't do it enough.
2010 will be TE's defining year. It's easy to say he sucks and will fail, but I remember seeing him in a few games where he managed the offense very well, so he'll prob get a shot.
-
Manning is arguably the best QB in NFL history. Better than Kelly. Better than Marino. You can' t hold TE up to that standard. I agree with your points about Manning, but he's an extremely rare and exceptional player.
-
He sucked from day one, never should have started for any team. The only reason he started was jaruon was his HC
Ahh...and then there's that insightful analysis...
-
Most of the people who want TE gone just want DIFFERENT and I can't blame them. Turn the page. I suppose we'll know soon enough what direction we're going.
My only remaining comment on our QB situation is: I seem to remember Brian Brohm being a better prospect when he came out than Edwards, LeFevour, Thigpen or anyone else mentioned. Maybe he has coachable tools.
-
They guy is not good. He simply is not an NFL caliber QB. He made a living throwing screen passes and running the zone read option. Trade back into the 2nd round? I doubt he even gets drafted.
Ignorant...Obviously the combine will be very important to guys like LeFevour. If he lights up the numbers, someone will buy the package. QB is too important and worth risks like this guy. Hey...he could have sucked on his level..The combine and maybe his pro day will determine his round. It's not even worth speculation till then.

It was reported that TE lost the locker room late in the season. To me, TE's disappearance is a combination of two things:
1) His mental state isn't one that rebounds from adversity. Not like a Brees, P. Manning, Rodgers, Favre, or the elite QB's in the game.
2) His HC was responsible for some of the dullest offenses in Bills history. That's not saying they were the worst, but three coordinators looked eerily similar when crunch time rolled around. I still don't know why TE remained loyal to DJ as his career was twisting downward in that backwards offense DJ's been running.
OBD will have a hard time selling Edwards as the starter in 2010 and they've already got an uphill climb after hiring Gailey.
He can only rebound with the proper O-line and coaching. Maybe this will be his first year of that. Of course, it may happen in another locale, but I think it's hard to judge he or Fitz based on '09 disaster. My buddies in Cincy insist that Fitz is the worst QB to ever play in Cincy...and that's saying something...
-
Take away an experienced OC and a competent O-line, I wonder how many QBs would have maintained their confidence level. It's not a full on defense of Edwards, but I just wonder if we bail now...is it 1 year too early? I think he showed enough when we had an OC and a line to merit another look.
-
There is absolutely no reason to trade Lee Evans. Let's keep good and trade/release bad. Genius, I know.
-
Chris Spielman. Dunno if he's x and O smart, but he certainly has the passion you like.
-
He showed more promise than any prospect (or suspect) we've had in years, now it feels like going out on a limb to say he should get a shot at the job. I think the odds are way in favor of him being our opening day starter over anyone else in the poll.
-
Agreed...I would love to see Jordan Shipley on this team. He's a possession receiver with big game experience, and he's tough as hell. Seems like he would fit well in Buffalo. If he's still on the board in rounds 3 or 4, and he likely will be, I think Nix and the boys should strongly consider him.
Shipley looks like a 2nd rounder.
-
Hmmm... Let's see, you have (3) NFL backups, (3) rookies and a 6-time pro-bowler. I wonder who would be best?
Yeah... I thought it was a trick question too.
Edwards is our QB with a promising draft pick understudy. It'll sink in sooner or later.
-
He is just another wannabe. The guy isnt going to amount to anything in the NFL which always = Bills fans want him
Another slap at Bills fans?...aren't you a Bills fan??? Therefore...you must want Troy Smith. Dunno why...
-
MY EYES HURT.

Evans is a good player who shows up every day, but he can be covered. Marshall can't be covered, but he doesn't show up every day.
Tough call. I'd say get a guy who can get him the ball, keep him upright, then figure out who "him" is. Even the best WR's only touch the ball 8-10 times a game.
-
Kelsay wil finally be cut.
Not that Kelsay is the second coming, but I think those calling for his head are off by one position. Marcus Stroud routinely gets blown off the ball and leaves gaping holes on that side of the line. Has has no motor. I'd rather have Kelsay, who at least gives a crap, than big ole invisible #99.
-
Kelsey was 280 and ran a 4.7 40 @ the combine.
He will likely go back to his more natural weight and play DE.
Bingo. I think Kelsay will actually be a decent 3-4 end. He's 20 lbs heavier than Schobel right now. Schobel is a football player. If anyone could make a position switch, it would be him....but he is on the wrong side of 30 and may not be up to it.
-
There's nowhere to go but up. And he's got 4 major holes that need to be filled. Unless we draft a db, how could anyone be pissed?

Matt Schaub, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Brett Favre, Kurt Warner, David Garrard, Kyle Orton, Tony Romo, Matt Cassel.

More 1st round QBs are busts than successful.
Have we really seen enough out of Bradford or Claussen to convince us to ignore our 10 other glaring needs? I haven't.
-
Assuming Phili is willing to trade Mcnabb...what would it take? I think it would be too much to give, especially with all the holes we have.
Would Lynch and our second be enough?
Horrible idea. Never trade 2nd rounder for anyone over 30. Lynch and Schobel.
-
So what's the plan here? Give our horrible QBs the best possible receiving corps and hope it somehow works out? Does anyone think Austin Collie or Pierre Garcon would have done ANYTHING on a team with a crappy QB?
We have 2 young WRs with promise, neither of whom has gotten a lot of time on the field. Time for them to sink or swim. Next year, we'll have a better idea of exactly what our needs are at WR. In any case, the QB comes first. Unless you can get a true game-breaker like TO 5 years ago (as opposed to the TO we got, who was still good, but nothing really special), your WRs aren't *that* big of an issue. Focus on getting a QB and keeping him upright, then worry about getting him someone to throw to.
AMEN...WR IS NEVER A GLARING NEED WHEN YOUR OL SUCKS AND YOU HAVE QUESTIONS EVERYWHERE ELSE. If there reaally good, they touch the ball 9 or 10 times a game. I'll puke if they draft a WR in the 1st 3 rounds.
What happened to Trent Edwards?

I'll give him the 98 yard pass and he was smart enough to run for his life, but I also saw him throw more or less directly into the ground, wide left, wide R (I can't say it). If he's our choice, I would honestly rather try Brohm or the hot new rookie. Fitz just doesn't have the tools. I hear what you're saying, but 55% completion rate?? I think that's his top end.
