  1. Scary indeed. But stats don't tell the whole story. Look at the 2 Buffalo Bills records Ryan set his year. Longest TD play from scrimmage (98 yards) and longest run for TD by QB (something like 31 yards). These were both plays that Ryan saw an opportunity and didn't brain freeze and went for it. And he had a great game in a blizzard. Do you honestly see Trent doing any of this? Ryan's not as good of a passer, but he's way football smarter and gutsier. Gives him the nod in my book.

Now hopefully we get a better vet in here between now and July who can be the started. But if it's between the 3 we got now, it's Fitz.

I'll give him the 98 yard pass and he was smart enough to run for his life, but I also saw him throw more or less directly into the ground, wide left, wide R (I can't say it). If he's our choice, I would honestly rather try Brohm or the hot new rookie. Fitz just doesn't have the tools. I hear what you're saying, but 55% completion rate?? I think that's his top end.

  2. It would be more of a death sentence for his career. The Bills are a weak little finesse team that plays in the cold. They need to change this before getting a qb who would probably be rendered useless due to poor blocking and a porous front 7.

My friend, for years you have been screaming for one qb or another. They get in there, get killed, and then you say that they "suck." The truth is that they will all continue to suck until this team is built appropriately. I am fully positive that not 1 NFL team is the least bit intimidated by our weak little team that was built upon the foundation of defensive backs and gadget players.

The Jets waited until they were strong to make a big, risky move at a quarterback. It worked, and the Bills would be wise to do the same. Common sense and history tells us this.

    BINGO!! Couldn't agree more.

  3. If it's between Trent and anyone on the roster, it's Fitz.

Scary thing is, in '09, Edwards had a higher completion percentage and QB rating. Both threw 1 more INT than TD. If you look at stats, there was absolutely NO improvement when Fitz took over. Niether would hang their hat on '09, not should they. I think Fitz is garbage and has a longer resume to prove it. TE may be as well. Maybe it's Brohm beacause we have less proof of how bad he can be.

  4. Losman's clock was off. If he got the ball out on time, he looked like a solid NFL QB. Likewise when he ran. But he's the polar opposite of Manning when it comes to diagnosing the play and getting the ball out. And he just didn't do it enough.

2010 will be TE's defining year. It's easy to say he sucks and will fail, but I remember seeing him in a few games where he managed the offense very well, so he'll prob get a shot.

  5. Most of the people who want TE gone just want DIFFERENT and I can't blame them. Turn the page. I suppose we'll know soon enough what direction we're going.

My only remaining comment on our QB situation is: I seem to remember Brian Brohm being a better prospect when he came out than Edwards, LeFevour, Thigpen or anyone else mentioned. Maybe he has coachable tools.

  6. They guy is not good. He simply is not an NFL caliber QB. He made a living throwing screen passes and running the zone read option. Trade back into the 2nd round? I doubt he even gets drafted.

Ignorant...Obviously the combine will be very important to guys like LeFevour. If he lights up the numbers, someone will buy the package. QB is too important and worth risks like this guy. Hey...he could have sucked on his level..The combine and maybe his pro day will determine his round. It's not even worth speculation till then.

  7. It was reported that TE lost the locker room late in the season. To me, TE's disappearance is a combination of two things:

    1) His mental state isn't one that rebounds from adversity. Not like a Brees, P. Manning, Rodgers, Favre, or the elite QB's in the game.

    2) His HC was responsible for some of the dullest offenses in Bills history. That's not saying they were the worst, but three coordinators looked eerily similar when crunch time rolled around. I still don't know why TE remained loyal to DJ as his career was twisting downward in that backwards offense DJ's been running.

OBD will have a hard time selling Edwards as the starter in 2010 and they've already got an uphill climb after hiring Gailey.

He can only rebound with the proper O-line and coaching. Maybe this will be his first year of that. Of course, it may happen in another locale, but I think it's hard to judge he or Fitz based on '09 disaster. My buddies in Cincy insist that Fitz is the worst QB to ever play in Cincy...and that's saying something...

  8. Kelsay wil finally be cut.

Not that Kelsay is the second coming, but I think those calling for his head are off by one position. Marcus Stroud routinely gets blown off the ball and leaves gaping holes on that side of the line. Has has no motor. I'd rather have Kelsay, who at least gives a crap, than big ole invisible #99.

  9. Kelsey was 280 and ran a 4.7 40 @ the combine.

He will likely go back to his more natural weight and play DE.

Bingo. I think Kelsay will actually be a decent 3-4 end. He's 20 lbs heavier than Schobel right now. Schobel is a football player. If anyone could make a position switch, it would be him....but he is on the wrong side of 30 and may not be up to it.

  10. So what's the plan here? Give our horrible QBs the best possible receiving corps and hope it somehow works out? Does anyone think Austin Collie or Pierre Garcon would have done ANYTHING on a team with a crappy QB?

We have 2 young WRs with promise, neither of whom has gotten a lot of time on the field. Time for them to sink or swim. Next year, we'll have a better idea of exactly what our needs are at WR. In any case, the QB comes first. Unless you can get a true game-breaker like TO 5 years ago (as opposed to the TO we got, who was still good, but nothing really special), your WRs aren't *that* big of an issue. Focus on getting a QB and keeping him upright, then worry about getting him someone to throw to.

AMEN...WR IS NEVER A GLARING NEED WHEN YOUR OL SUCKS AND YOU HAVE QUESTIONS EVERYWHERE ELSE. If there reaally good, they touch the ball 9 or 10 times a game. I'll puke if they draft a WR in the 1st 3 rounds.
