If there is a change at the HC position i think the perfect one would be Marty S .
Did any of you know that he played for the Bills in the 60's ? And who else better to coach the Bills than him ? He can't win the big one either .
But i think if he was put together with the Bills the curse would be broken & both Marty & the Bills would be vindicated as far as winning the big one !!
NAH it would never work Marty knows all about Ralph !! Sorry
I always wondered why they didn't bring him in when looking for a new HC , it would be the best thing to happen to the Bills in 12 years !!
I'll second that !!!

While your 2:00 offense is trying to put points on the board in a hurry, your 4:00 offense is trying to do just the opposite - milk the clock and keep the ball out of the other team's hands to protect a lead.
All jokes about not having leads to protect aside, It's something the Bills haven't had in a long time. The ability to run the clock and get first downs, usually on the ground and when the other team knows it's coming, is what elevates a team from average to above average.
So why can't the Bills do it?
Is it O-Line? I don't think so - the OL (especially the interior) are very capable run blockers.
Is it coaching? Are we not smart enough to design/call/execute plays to make runs effective (and stay inbounds) against a stacked box? It's pretty basic stuff so I'm not sure that's it.
Do we need a bigger RB? This is possible. When we spread out a defense with WRs and the threat of the throw is there we seem to get lanes for our shifty backs to run between the tackles but when teams know we're going to run they seem to get bottled up.
Discuss...
Ya we know it works . Just show Chan & company the Bills /Giants SB video & he can see how a good run game can slow down a good passing offense , the proof is in the pudding !!

Let the speculation begin !! Can you here it now I can !!
FIRE BUDDY BRING IN HOLMGREN !!

He is 27, not 29. There was never talk of him moving to LB, and why would coordinators game plan for a guy no one wanted for 6 weeks? I like the idea of merriman but lets not get crazy here.
Sorry thought he was older . I distinctly remember a passage in a article (although it may have been only one sentence) of the POSSIBILITY of IF he was healthy he MAY be able to be used as a LB at some point with his past experience .
It may have been on Buffalowins , PFF, or some other blog but i do remember reading it !!

It's seems as though every season a veteran qb shakes free. Weather it's MAnning,Palmer,Vick or Cutler. One can argue about the ability of the qbs I listed but I think everyone would argue they all offer an upgrade to Fitz. This years three most likely candidates are Rivers , Vick and to a lesser degree Romo. It will be interesting to watch each situation to see which one imploded and to see if BUddy will pull the trigger if one becomes available
Hey it would be a great PR move if Brandon brought in Donavan Mcnabb -- RIGHT ?
Seeing as he played at Syracuse we could draw more fans from there to bring up ticket sales ! Got to think of the bottom line !!
YA YA now thats some thinking right there !!!
With Vicks arm & our O line giving him time i think that could (might) be awesome !!

Last year IMHO there was a definite difference with our D with Merriman on the field (before his injury) & then after he got hurt . If with nothing else in the way the other coordinators did in their preparation . After he was gone it was just like they had one less thing to worry about with while game planning for the Bills D .
At the beginning of this season with Merriman finally healthy i thought they would at least give him a chance to prove him self & then there was some talk of how we may even move him to a LB position if he truly was back to a resemblance of his old self . And given the fact that our LB corp could stand a bit of improvement I thought it's a win win .
Aw Think of it --- M. Williams - K. Williams - Dareus - Merriman Ya now that's what i'm talking bout !!!
But apparently some one saw something different .
I think his intensity & work ethic, along with his veteran presence in the locker room , not to mention just the thought of the possibilities in other coordinators preparation will bode well for our team & will free up Mario cause to this point i've not seen where Anderson has been that big of a worry for other teams .
The guy is still only 29 & IF his surgery went as well as K Williams (which both of them had the same surgery) & Merriman has had more time to heal then i think we may have something here .
He seems to like the Bills , team mates & city . He definitely sounded appreciative about the move on his web site so i too say - Welcome back !!
What say you Bills fans ??
-
The only feasible option is Thigpen. You might be able to get Jackson on the field after the bye and only if you scale back the playbook way down. That might work for a game or two but NFL DCs will figure him out and we are back to where we are now.
Anyone remember what Thigpen looked like in the Lions pre season game? Yes, it's pre season, yada yada. But he was making some very accurate throws. It's what saved his job. He has to know Gailey's offense. Can he be any worse than Fitz right now?
PTR
Any move right now to better the team would be good . One thing that Buddy & Chan always say is "we are always looking to make the team better" so what are they not seeing ??
Big question is why was T J brought here in the first place if the guy wasn't going to be used why waste the pick ?
You've been at this longer than most on this site , if you can't give any insight to that question who knows the answer ??
-
It's a wonder old #12 in that video wasn't found by his car with his butt kicked almost the same as taking a knife to a gun fight ??
Doesn't make a lot of sense to stand in the middle of all those Cardinal fans & telling them to go F them selves . I guess that is what some fans do ?? Go figure ??
-
WOW & i thought Sully was a jack ass , what was Chan suppose to do go into the locker room & say ya you guys won but you still suck ??
Come on dude you have to work off of the positives if not whats the sense of even trying ??
-
Great find !! Did you send it to Chan ? I don't know that even this would convince him though i hope that some one does !!
I was pulling for Fitz after what he showed last year but since then he has seemed to digress to what he was & not what we thought he would be ..
GO BILLS !!!
-
Thurston or Lovey?
To Shay !! Very good one !!
-
As you know I scout and write articles on guys that are from Small Schools. Well I know for fact Buffalo is one of the teams that is in love with the 6'3, 225 pound linebacker. Here is my latest article/interview with him, check it out. Tell me what you think?
Great article i just hope they don't pull a Gronk & let him go to the way side !!!
-
with mark going down i say we bring back shawne merriman, 1st we need a DE 2nd i know he would fire up the locker room and we desperately need that right now.....thoughts?
GREAT MOVE !! THE BEST THING THEY COULD HAVE DONE !! Now lets see if they really use him & keep him if he shows or helps our D rather than bring a guy back that really didn't have a huge impact to this point b/c of the cash out put !!
-
Just by him being on the team will make an impact , if he is put on the field it will be a larger impact !
THe thing that i can't wait to see is if he does make a difference & when Anderson gets back to being healthy do they pull a boner & let Merriman go & put Anderson back in the line up when he wasn't really doing any thing ?
Or do they admit that they should have kept him & let him stay if he has an impact ?
B/c while he was gone one thing is for sure our D didn't scare any one !!
Just imagine the potential -- Merriman - Williams - Dareus - Williams --- ????????
-
How much better would this group & our offense be with a guy like _ _ _ _ _ _ _ fill in the blank !!
Kirk Cousins ? T Jack ? Moore ? J . Campbell ? Mallet ?
-
I like Fitz. I truly believe if it were up to him he'd be running CJ and Fred 80% of the game. Alot of Fitz' mistakes (and mistakes by our offense) are a product of the playcalling by ChanMan (e.g. wildcat pass for pick, wildcat bomb, countless times in the last three games where we are throwing on 3rd and 2 with empty backfield, Spiller on goaline, etc). Fitz can throw downfield (Chandler up the middle seam on two TD's in the Pats game). I believe alot of his short throws on deep sideline routes are based on his inability to trust his line at this stage of the season (he is releasing the ball in 2 seconds rather than waiting 3 to properly gauge the speed of his receivers). But with each game he will get more comfortable with the line and the long ball will fall into place. The short routes he misses are unjustifiable but who can take his place at this time?
I have a feeling (as weird as this sounds and you may slam me for this) that once our O Line is healthy again and all five back in full swing...Fitz will have an awakening. He was lights out for the first 6 games last season but then he fell apart. I'm of the opinion he has learned alot from the 3 losses and multiple picks. He is now a glorified game manager. With CJ and Fred healthy look for ground and pound to open the play action game plan (a la Alex Smith or Joe Flacco). For the remaining 10 games, I'm sensing a turnaround and it will start this week at home. It will be the reverse of last season...our first six games this year - BLAH...last 10 games I think we'll see some significant improvement.
Ganjah does wonderful things for the imagination doesn't it !!!
-
Yes a win does feel good & i am right there in hoping this will be what they need to just keep going in a upward direction .
But after what we saw 2 weeks in a row it is just hard to think they'll do what the Giants do . Not that any one of us here don't want to see that (even if some of us did they would still b***ch about something)
I just hope that something turns on & keeps them on the up tick to at least finish with a 8 & 8 or 9 & 7 season .
Heck just beat the Pats & the Jets once this year & we'll call it good !!!
-
Well we have another win & a win is a win in the NFL , but just how far does that go ??
Will we be more impressed next week if we win against the Titans ?
Alls i saw were the plays that were on the web site , we got some play out of the guys that should be making plays any way & as far as you Kelsay haters i think your all nuts the guy just brings it every down !! I didn't get to see any of the game but from the out put of Fitz i would say that experiment should be over !!
If all's you can do is hope that the guy manages the game & doesn't manage to throw it away (pun intended) then it's time to do something . Question how long would he have lasted under another coach ??
WE NEED MORE OUT PUT FROM THE QB POSITION !!
The only one that needs convincing at this point is his coach .
Don't get me wrong I was all about Fitz being our QB at one point , he's definitely smart & he's tough i'll give him that , yet it almost seems to be the same type of situation that happened to Edwards .
Edwards was doing OK until he got his bell rung & that was it , Fitz did well up until he got hit last year in the Redskins game then it all went down hill & now it seems as though he can't pay to make a good pass ??
Bottom line is we need a first rate QB not a First class QB . Fitz is a first class type of guy , a great team mate & a hard worker but maybe just a good #2 QB . When it comes down to the game on the line he ain't that guy !
I think we have the talent , but is just having the talent enough ? It's easy to be impressive on paper but are we as Bills fans as impressed as our coach ??
-
He only gets on the field for a handfull of plays. The kick return game is no longer an important part of the NFL. The wildcat seems to be just a diversion and not a real yard gainer. Smith at reciever in my mind is as good as Roosevelt. I know Chan likes his versatility, but come on. That money could be spent on another quality reciever or an actual back up quarterback option. If Brad Smith has to come in to play our qb position, the year is over. Thoughts?
I had enough of him in the preseason i don't get why they keep him around , sure he is a athletic guy but get creative with him say do a reverse & have him throw out of that or something .
When he's in there every one knows what he is doing no guess work . Maybe they can package him & Fitz for a trade some where , just don't know who they could trade for J Campbell , M Moore ???
-
Last year we had some success with our Offense to the tune of starting 5 & 2 & showed that this O has potential but this year it seems to be especially the last 2 games that we can't get on track .
I go back to when Vince Young was here & now to the bringing T Jack here by the using of another wasted draft pick to this point ..
They say that Young couldn't learn the offense b/c of how complicated it is to learn so they thought even though they brought him here they may need to keep Thigpen around as a #3 or #2 until he learned it .
As we all know Young is now gone enter T Jack & he has been inactive b/c he can't learn the offense & can't get reps ? If Thigpen knows the offense let him sit so you can utilize the draft pick that has so far been wasted on bringing in T Jack . Give the guy a chance at least ...
He put the Seahawks in the play offs last year what has Thigpen done for you lately ? Besides being put on more than a few ESPN out takes getting hit in the head last year by a football (which was more a slam of the Bills than anything) the guy has done much of nothing & i think if the fan base was asked we don't believe that if Fitz goes down he would be our pick to take us any where but where we are at ..
Could it be that Chan needs to dumb down the offense a bit & not have it be so complicated ? Would that not only help Fitz & T Jack but the rest of our young wide outs trying to learn this complicated offense ?
Most times in life i have found that if you K.I.S.S. it (keep it simple stupid) you get a lot more out of what it is your trying to teach or achieve ..
What do you all think ??? GO BILLS !!!!!

I know that Chris Kelsay is a favorite target for bashing on this site, but I'm excited to have him back on the field. Say what you will about his overall production (which I do not think is really that horrible) the guy has been a staple for this team season after season and gives his heart and soul to this team, and he does it for less money than many other lesser players would in Buffalo. Having him and his leadership back on the field will be huge. He also brings that passion that, from other posts, many of you say is missing from this team. He never quits on a play, and may have even more succes with Williams, Dareus, and Williams garnering much of the attention from opposing OLs. He really had some good games at the end of last year as a starter (7 Tackles and a sack against Miami, 10 tackles and 3 sacks against Denver) and I expect solid, with an occasional exceptional, performances from him for the remainder of this year as he is penciled in as the starter.
I'm right there with you brother Bill fan , all the negative stuff about this guy is crap !! He always as you pointed out never gives up on a play & just works his butt off for the TEAM ..
Besides Anderson did his best work last year for the Pats as a SITUATIONAL PASS RUSHER & i thing if our coaching staff would maybe take a lesson or 2 from those at the top of the NFL food chain once in a while as in this situation they might just learn something !!
But i'm with you can't wait to see if he brings more intensity back to the D line !!

I was just reading a thing on how Stephon Gilmore drew the Fitzgerald card (no pun intended) for this weeks game . Plus the fact that i was at the game at The Ralph & watched our Bills make history against the Pats i didn't see T . Mcgee any where .
And i haven't read or heard any thing about him , is he still healing , is he hurt again , or has he been relegated to trying to teach the rookies the right way to cover WR's ??
Oh & how is Flo doing is he still playing , did he get cut has any one heard ??
At this point getting rid of Flo looks like a major mistake , at least he was pretty much injury free & would bring a huge play from time to time even though he could be beat every once & again , but for what ever Mcgee has been able to give the team as far as on the field time i think keeping Flo would have been the better choice .
If he is not fully back to health by now why not just cut the excess & bring in some one that can stop the bleeding in our secondary ? Arron Williams should be doing a lot more for us seeing as though he has been in the system for 2 years now even though we have changed to a 4/3 .
The last 2 weeks this guy has been made to look like a high school CB buy the likes of N.E & SF ...
Well i was just wondering if any of you all could enlighten me on the where to of Mcgee & what your thoughts of the matter might be . I know we need some kind of steadying force in the DB corp. & if he can't bring it get FLo back or something !!

I don't really like any of the QB's coming out of the draft outside of Geno and Barkley. We won't be picking 1 or 2 in the draft either. Let's face it Buddy will not trade multiple picks for a QB. Remember what he said about the Skins trade with the Rams? First he laughed at the Skins saying they gave up to much and said he didn't know how good RGIII was gonna be. If he didn't think RGIII was good enough he definatly won't think Smith or Barkley is good enough. Considering that RGIII was a better prospect then either Smith or Barkley.
Which leads me to my subject, I made a list of QB's I would like to see us go after that are on NFL ROSTERS.
#1- Jamrcus WEBB- I really like this kid he has some skills. Very fast great runner with a cannon arm. Not the most polished but under the right system like Gaileys. This kid can flourish. I think this kid has a ton of upside.
#2-Mike Vick- If the Eagles don't make the playoffs look for Vick to either be outright released or traded. I would love to have him. I think with our Offensive line we can give Vick the protection he desperatly needs. And under Gaileys system he would be the perfect QB for his offense. Even if the Bills clean house and fire Gailey. I still believe Vick or Webb will still be a good fit.
#3-Tony Romo- Same as Vick. Dallas might be ready to move on after this season. Brings expericence and will be a major upgrade over Fitz.
#4-Kirk Cousins- Big strong armed accurate QB with great leadership skills. I like his poise and passion to be a leader on our team. Kind of reminds me of a young Steve Young.
#5-Ryan Mallet- If the Bills clean house fire ChanNix, I believe this Big strong rocket armed QB will be a great fit in Buffalo. With the windy conditions in Buffalo. This guy can throw threw those winds.
These are my top five the following are on my Honorable mention list.
#6-Chase Daniels
#7- TJ Yates
#8 -Jason Cambell
#9-Matt Flynn
#10-Matt Moore
Ok guys Chime in who would u like to see? If I missed anyone let me know.
I didn`t forget Colin Kaepernick, I just don`t think he will be available for trade. Jim Harbaugh loves this Kid.
If he was on the list he would be #1
Vic & Romo i think are closer to the end of their careers so with that in mind i would rather get some one younger to look toward the future , Cousins has looked pretty good i guess , Matt Moore i think could be a good & potentially cheap pick up so that would work in B/lo Flynn may be ? & Jason Campbell has a good arm & didn't do to bad for the Raiders & is looking for a starting position plus he doesn't have ----- a lot of wear on him ..
Super Bowl halftime performer will be....
