His position in Seattle was essentially  to be over-ridden most of the time by Schneider and Carroll. Perhaps he can help instruct Beane and McD on how to not de-construct a team with dynasty capabilities. Seattle needs to dump Pete so badly.

Well, their window is def closing the way SEA's roster is currently constructed.  Goes hand-in-hand with when they had to pay Wilson. Much nicer to make that run when QB is still on rookie deal.

  2. honestly, this was something I was expecting once the Pegulas took ownership of the team. Basically bring in all their own people. I bet in hindsight that is exactly what they would have done instead of keeping everyone and hiring Rex.

McBeane are going to be made men if Allen turns out to be even average - and someone who can win games with the help of a strong D. Their leash is may be even 4 years long now.

Interesting that Overdorf is still on board. For all of the flack many give him, he must be super at his job as the cap expert. Beane said they meshed immediately. I guess we can't fault JO for all the bad contracts Whaley drew up. Maybe he's just the pencil pusher to get them hammered out and signed with the agents.

I get the enjoying what you do but it depends on how much he's paid.  Do you think Darnold and Allen even paid him 25K each?  I mean how much can that cost?

It was three months - every day, all day. It's probably more like $100k/guy.

I guess you’re probably right. Jets on the way back now.

Must be an ok way to live/travel.

No doubt. "Hey son, is your homework done? Yes? Want to go see Lebron play tonight?"

I have been on private jets twice in my life (total luck, nothing to do with wealth) and there is nothing like it. Car service literally drives up to the plane too. Zero waiting around, no real terminal/gate to deal with (at least at teterboro). We went from getting out of a car to being in the air in less than 10mins.

  5. Plausible scenario:

Dorsey: 1 is not going to happen.

Beane: I know. We can get to 2, but will depend on who you take.

Dorsey: I will not tell you (or text) that over the phone.

Beane: I can be there in an hour.

    Dorsey: OK then

This trip was not for the Cavs game. I think Beane needed to find out who the Browns are in on before spending to get to 2. Maybe Dorsey told him he'd tell him in person or something, which is not outlandish these days. Beane has said in interviews that some GMs he has shared who he was thinking, others he hasn't. Depended on a trust level. He just dealt TT to Dorsey. I am sure 4 would have been discussed too - assuming this was a football trip on the Pegula jet.

    Is it tomorrow yet?

Post Cavs game edit: the Pegulas totally could have just been at the Cavs game. Flight now leaves after the game and airport is 10mins from arena. So there's that.

  6. I think this is the right sub forum for this Q.

This coming season, we are going to bring an RV (out of state). I have seen/heard that the camper lot can sell out well in advance of a game. Any pro tips? The last thing I want to do is drive up there in essentially a bus (it is completely awesome inside and out) but not get into the lot.

    Any best practices are welcome!

Problem with that is that in a few years, the Giants will potentially have to deal with fifth-year options on six players in a two-year span.  There are worse problems, I guess, but it’s a consideration.

    That's if they all 'hit.'

Hedge your bet that three will be studs and three will be 'meh.'

  8. Where Ryan Leaf has come in the last even 10 years is nothing short of amazing. Good on him for turning his life around - it couldn't have been easy, and probably still isn't day in and day out. If you follow him on twitter, he is one of the most responsive 'celebrities' in giving words of encouragement to people with substance issues. Stand up guy in my book.

Further, the guy knows what he is talking about.

Just like BIG BEN was a hair breath away from retiring after 2017 season, then played 2018, so: HE SHOULD BE RETIRED NOW for sure, YES?

K, but why? Why retire before TB12?

Gronk still one of the biggest receiving threats in the league - even with a robocob arm brace. He is still virtually uncoverable in redzone.

  10. Just watched all the last year's Baker Mayfield highlights (again). Nine laymen observations.

    1) He has a very good arm. A cannon on some throws. No hitch in his throwing style either. Much better than I was expecting.

    2) Accuracy is very good, although many times he was throwing to wide open guys.

    3) RE: #2, his completions were usually a result of scheme OR him reading entire field and buying time in pocket and making the high percentage throw.

    4) Decision making seems unbelievable. Great instincts.

    5) He took a lot of snaps from shotgun and had R/PO on TONS of plays. I am not sure how much you can do that in NFL. Huge concern in my view.

    6) His aggressiveness once on the run needs to be dialed back in the NFL where guys are faster and hit harder. Learn to slide!

    7) NCAA competition level, while miles better than what Josh Allen has seen, still was not elite every week. Tulane, anyone? Still played well against Georgia in a bowl setting.

    8) His attitude is either going to be his biggest asset or biggest flaw and I don't think there will be a middle ground. Needs to be a process truster.

    9) Captain obvious comment: If he were even 2" taller, I think he'd be consensus #1 or #2 QB in the draft.
