  1. Im all aboard the Wilson train at this point. There's alot to like about him as a QB, most notably the toughness and demeanor, he just has the look of a guy that won't quit. Skill wise, and I said this in another thread, he doesn't do anything that will WOW you, but he can do everything well, and make every throw, including the downfield stuff with accuracy. I am very much looking forward to charting his progress this week in Mobile and going forward.

  2. How do you, or anyone else for that matter, quantify, value, exactly?

    Tim-

Well, its about where the scouting team (with Nix at the top) has set their players rankings, both at individual positions and overall. They look at need, and overall talent/ranking, where that player fits into what WE are doing.

for example, lets say that Werner, is the top ranked Dlineman on our board, and the #3 player overall, if he were to slip to #8, and it were a choice between him or say Geno Smith. That would be a Spirited discussion, if Smith is our top ranked Qb but, lets say the 21st overall prospect on our board.

based on how LAST yrs draft worked out, Im inclined to think that Nix & Co. will stay put and hope their guy falls to them. IMO, i think they will target, ILB, QB, WR and CB first, either in FA or the draft.

  3. If Wilson (or any other prospect) is the qb that you have targeted as your franchise qb then why wait and risk losing your so called coveted qb? Why not just take the plunge and get this critical qb issue addressed? If the prospect doesn't work out then so what. This organization has had many first round picks at many different positions not work out., and so have all other teams

The answer to that is perceived value. If our collective braintrust believes that we can get an impact player at #8 AND get our targeted QB @ 41 then we do it that way. However, if not, then try and trade back, maximize your value. If all that fails, take your QB @ 8.

  4. Is there some kind of confusion? i'm fairly certain the OC doesn't make the selection...

But he would, conceivably, have significant input attesting to the Talents of someone else (Nassib)

IMO, once the scouts get a chance to see a guy like Wilson up close and In person then Nassib will be an afterthought

  5. If this New OC is worth 25 cents, he will not pass up a chance (if there is one) to grab a kid like Tyler Wilson.

If OBD truly has a gun to Buddy's head, he should take Tyler... Tyler is a kid with actual Talent. My mock isn't done yet, but I'm 75% sure that I won't take a QB at all in the first or second round.

Agreed. Wilson is, for my money, the best this class has to offer, in terms of all around game. He doesn't do anything that will AMAZE you, hence he's not a 1st rd guy, but he does everything well, and is tough as nails. Very Kelly-esque IMO

  6. You must of not seen Geno Smiths "highlights" in the PinStripe Bowl. He can't play in snow, he is overrated. He is no RG3 or Newton he is Akili Smith, Andre Ware, Rodney Peete. Basicly he sucks.

    ]

How bout when he led his team to victory over Rutgers in the Snow? Did he suck then?

BTW, could you possibly come up with any more ****ty black QBs to compare him to? how bout Jamarcus, Aaron Brooks, Mcpherson, you forgot about them...<_<

  7. What if they adapted the Rooney rule to come into effect earlier in the cycle? We can all argue about whether Smith, Horton or others should have been hired. We won't know for at least a few years how Trestman and Marrone and others perform. It is not fair to Marrone to say he was hired due to skin color. Someone else said that if Shaw had his name out there he would be an NFL HC already and I agree.

What would be fair is for the NFL to examine non-firings and here is where the Bills would end up in trouble. I like Buddy Nix but most Bills fans don't. The obvious choice to replace him is a black guy. Could the NFL start stepping in and forcing teams to fire inept coaches and GMs? That doesn't mean you have to hire a black guy to replace him but it would shake things up. It would not just be Nix that would be out. Rex Ryan, John Fox, Jim Schwartz, Gary Kubiak, Dennis Allen, Greg Schiano, Mike Munchak, Mike Shanahan, Jeff Ireland, David Caldwell, Rick Spielman, Mark Dominik, Les Snead, Steve Klein, Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder would all be firings nobody would argue about.

Maybe the NFL can have a policy of firing 5-10 failing coaches and GMs per year if they are white and the team takes no action. Again I am not for quotas so you can't force anyone to hire a black guy to replace the white proven failures.

I'm not sure it will go this way but it does seem to make the most sense of the options.

I would wager that there are some people who would argue for those guys to stay.

plus, what about Tomlin, for example, his team underperformed, so does he get fired too, or does he get a black pass?

  8. I'd love to have Geno Smith in a Bills Uni, but if he is gone, or the new collective brain trust passes on him, then the 2nd choice for me is Tyler Wilson. Wilson, IMO has all the physical tools, maturity and experience to come in and play well relatively soon. He faced top level competition while under center @ Arkansas, put up very good numbers, displayed nice touch and accuracy on deep routes & has displayed toughness and battled through injury and adversity.

  9. He's a freak of nature. The things he can do as a 6'6 player just defy logic. I have seen him with his body at absolutely ridiculous angles to better utilize leverage, I have seen him blow by tackles with his first step, I have seen him bullrush tackles right into the backfield, etc. His swim, rip and punch moves are all otherworldly. The odds of him being a very good pro...I would say are very good. As long as he doesn't lose that drive.

The fact he walked onto campus, started and was a top 3 DE in the SEC from day 1 BUT still came back for his sophomore season as a more complete player (vastly improved against the run IMO) is a good start. He's a once in a generation type player if I have ever seen one.

Exactly, Clowney has the talent and ability to break every record on the books for dlineman. He's THAT good.

if we have a shot at him or Manziel, its an easy choice, Clowney is the pick hands down.

  10. I watched a couple of Wilson's games on youtube (Rutgers and LSU) and he looks to be the very definition of a first read "dink and dunk" college system passer. He's this year's Blaine Gabbert. I just don't understand what people here like about this guy. To me, he's a backup QB at most in the NFL. You have to have proven that you can go through progressions and throw the deep ball on a consistent basis to even be considered as a future elite QB in the NFL which is what we are all looking for in our QB pick in the draft. Someone show me a game where he's done that.

try this out, As Ive said, I get to see a lot of SEC games, and this kid does indeed have a nice deep ball. I counted at least 5 passes where the ball travel 45 yds or more in the air and hits the WR in stride.
