  1. I am sorry Marcell but I am calling BS. You know the Bills want you. You want to play for the team. You just want as much money as possible. I get it. Everyone gets it. This was nothing more than a ploy executed by his agent to leak dissatisfaction to the media to put pressure on the front office for more money....or a better deal. I so wish players would keep their negotiation ploys out of the media...

  2. I have just been pondering on my way home from work... do you think if what we are going to get is simply Orton of last year standard of Quarterback play (not saying we will just hypothesising) would you think EJ is the worst of the 3 guys to get it from in the eyes of the coaching staff? Let me explain...

If we go 10-6 and lose in the wildcard round with Orton level of play from Matt Cassel then great Cassel has done his job we probably draft a Quarterback early in the draft and Cassel maybe starts 2016 and hands over during the season.

If we go 10-6 and lose in the wildcard round with Orton level of play from Tyrod Taylor then great he was a flier who has come in and shown some potential I don't think anyone objects to us going Quarterback early in the draft and Tyrod and the rookie compete for the job next summer and beyond.

However, If we go 10-6 and lose in the wildcard round with Orton level of play from EJ...... then is there a risk for the coaching staff that some guys in the front office who were involved in drafting him as a 1st round pick (the GM for one) see it as the progress he would have shown in year 2 if not yanked by Marrone and seek to impose him on the coaching staff as the starter again in 2016 and rather than drafting a QB early simply take a mid round flier on someone?

I know... I am probably worrying about nothing but it is a long offseason and I have had a crap day I needed some nonsense to occupy my brain on the journey home.

I love this, because I find myself going though all the same speculation when I am driving home from a crap day. To me its all part of being a fan and I love it...

  3. I have followed Barkley since his high School days at Mater Dei HS in Orange County. At USC Barkley started as a freshman. In 2012 he was considered a favorite to win the Heisman. His big mistake was not entering the NFL draft in 2012, opting instead to play his senior year at USC. In 2012 everyone picked him as a first round draft choice. It was in his senior year at USC, playing under an awful coach, Lane Kiffen, that he hurt his shoulder.

I have always believed Barkley was a sleeper with a lot of potential in the NFL. I would love to see the Bill's bring him in.

  4. You good ask 100 different guys (or gals) and come up with 100 different reasons why one quarterback candidate is better than the next. Finding a potentially great quarterback, like Andrew Luck, is the exception, not the rule. Besides, you would have to have an awful season and be the first to pick in the draft to get him. (unless you want to trade away your first born and even then there is no guarantee anyone will trade). I think it is smart to watch players like Joe Licata early. However we have a whole 2015 season to play first. My opinion is that between the quarterbacks we now have, one will emerge.

  5. If this is true then the Bills are rolling with EJ Manuel as the starter. They just won't say so publicly.

They'll probably draft a development QB in the 3rd or 5th rd this year and depending on how EJ plays this year, they'll have an eye on QBs in 2016 draft/FA/trade scenarios.

I am with you on this. I am of the feeling that E.J. is not as bad as many critics claim. I have no illusions that he is the next Tom Brady either. Still I think the potential is there.

  6. Don't think it's true and also op said it was his opinion this would happen. No mention of actual plans. Only financial rationale would be eating the entire cost in Rex's first year when most coaches realized they have a grace period, and free up some more space for the more important 2nd year

What he said. E.J., all things considered, is not that bad where he would be cut. In fact I look to him having having a good year in 2015.
