  1. Wang? Another classic example of assuming a player drafted in the mid rounds can actually play in the NFL when in reality he can't. The guy will be out of the league in 1-3 years. See James Hardy who went in the 2nd.

So tell me, with your vast knowledge of football skills, and eye for talent, for which NFL team do you scout?

Maybe, we let the kid play in a game (even a preseason game) before we s*** all over them. Just a thought, no?

  2. I haven't seen anything about this, but I find this incredibly strange. For the most part, the OLine plays together every snap on virtually every team, unless a player is injured or taken out because he is ineffective. However, Gailey has seemingly been switching things up quite a bit with no rhyme or reason. Cordero Howard in for Wood, Bell taken out, Green taken out(well, this could be for cause---he is god awful). Almost seems like he is holding mini-audtions for the OLine each game to see who can actually play and who can't for future reference. I guess it isn't too bad of an idea...not like we are going to go 13-0 from this point forward and win the division, but I just thought it was kind of strange how this keeps happening when virtually no other teams do it...

No other teams are on a 16 week tryout year. Also, I think some of it (i.e. Wood/Bell) are because the two of them are coming off pretty bad injuries.

I think it is a great idea, and hopefully he starts doing it with Maybin/Carrington/Moats/Troupe so that we know what we have and what we need by the end of the year.

  3. I read an article in USA Today that reflects on this and they are dead on. KC's ownership is committed to WINNING. Look at the money they have invested, they paid greatly to get a guy that is considered 'the' man who built the partriots in Scott Pioli to be GM and handed him football operations. Look at their OC and DC's. Former HC's in some capasity AND Both have WINNING superbowl experience and are regarded as two of the best at their jobs. I am willing to bet that the combined salaries of Nix, Gailey and our coaches is about what Pioli's is alone.

Facts are Ralph Wilson has never, and will never put a premium on Front office staff and coaching. This has always been his issue and where his 'Cheap ass' reputation comes from, and rightfully so.

Schedule, that is all. Chiefs and their fans are in for a rude awakening, very soon.

They have played a schedule with a combined record of 1-8.

  4. Fisher coached Russell up into the #1 overall draft pick. By Fisher's very own account, out of his own mouth, Russell (in college) was one of the hardest working players he's ever coached. He said Russell had an intense desire to improve himself and spent lots of time studying to be the best QB he could be.

When directly asked why Russell flamed out the way he did, Fisher's response was that you can never predict how a 21 year old is going to react to becoming instantly rich and famous. He said by his best guess, it had to do with the "less than stellar" situation that the Raiders bring their players into, and that Russell seemed to have lost his interest to perform well for whatever reason (money, etc.)He said that the NFL and its millions are a great carrot on a stick for college players, but you simply never how they will react once they do hit it big time.

Next time try some critical thinking.

Calm down and learn how to take a joke big guy, I am sure FSU was a great school to attend. Just because the Raiders took Russell #1 doesn't really speak that much to his talent, though I am of the mind that he had it, and wasted it.

Also, in your haste to attack me for ripping on Russell, I did mention that I think Ponder is very good, I just hope that we have our Qb situation figured out before it is time to pick him.

  5. I believe the entire Front Office of the Bills should be terminated, everyone! Trent went from starting to unemployment in 2 weeks. This makes as much sense as firing your offensive coordinator the week before the start of the season. Maybe if the front office cannot judge talent they should be fired! After all we haven't had a playoff appearance this century. Does anyone BILLIEVE in this front Office? Fix the problems at the top and the rest will follow. The reality is our team has been in decline for the past 10 years and Russ Brandon does not have a football mind. The people of Buffalo desire better. Shout

    3 Weeks, that's it. It's been 3 weeks. Not even a month.

  6. For those interested in Ponder, check out...

    http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/117981-ponder-watch/

And for those mouth breathers spouting off about FSU QBs, Ponder will be the first QB coming out of FSU to be coached entirely by Jimbo Fisher. Bobby Bowden and the old 'Noles offensive strategy played no role in the development of Ponder.

I take offense to that, I am the only mouthbreather making fun of FSU, and it's cause I really don't like them. Also, the Jimbo Fisher thing isn't that much of a vote of confidence when the last place he was QB's coach produced JellyCheeseRoll Russell.

Ponder is good, but I hope we have our QB figured out before we have to go that route.

  7. other than Jake Locker, Andrew Luck, and Ryan Mallett.

    Jerrod Johnson

    - 6'5, 245 pounds.

    - Senior at Texas A&M

    - Born on July 27th, 1988

    - Started 22 games in 2008 and 2009.

    - Against +.500 competition last season, he put up the following stats: 18 TDs, 4 INTs, 60% completion%, and 273 passing yards per game.

    Colin Kaepernick

    - 6'6, 225 pounds

    - Senior at Nevada

    - Born on November 3rd, 1987

    - Started 34 games between 2007 and 2009.

    - Against +.500 competition last season: 13 TDs, 1 INT, 225 total yards per game, and completed 56% of his passes.

    Christian Ponder

    - 6'3, 227 pounds

    - Senior at Florida State

    - Born on February 25th, 1988

    - Started 22 games in 2008 and 2009.

    - Against +.500 competition last season: 15 Tds, 5 INTs, 288 passing yards per game, and completed 71% of his passes.

Don't concentrate purely on Luck/Locker/Mallett. They are not the only choices in the first and second round.

The biggest rule of drafting, is never take a Florida State Seminole QB early.

  8. Let's look at the timeline.

-A little over two weeks ago training camp and the preseason ended, the coaching staff made it sound that it was more than obvious that Trent Edwards was the best quarterback on the team. Two weeks later he is benched then a week later released. In a little over two weeks he went from being the teams best option to a QB who is a free agent with at least 6 teams arguing over the waiver claim order so they can pick him up. I know the many Edwards haters on this board will like the move, but the way it was handled is ignorant.

-A couple weeks ago, Spiller was the starter with Jackson the backup. Lynch was on the border of being traded and was a malcontent who the staff was voicing their displeasure in through the media. After one regular season game, Lynch was now the starter, Spiller was used as he should have been, and Jackson barely sees the field.

-A couple weeks ago, after a training camp where one of the biggest battles was the #2 receiver. After a long battle, Steve Johnson was the clear winner of the #2 receiver according to Chan Gailey. Now two weeks later, he is no longer the #2 and Roscoe Parrish, an undersized speedster is the #2, a role no other team would use him in.

-The starters in the defensive backfield seem to change every week.

It is obvious that the new regime, Chan and the staff are already in a panic mode and have no long term plan for this team. What were they looking at during training camp and the preseason that so many changes have to be made so soon?

I am not saying that Fitz shouldn't have replaced Edwards or that these other changes are wrong, but it just seems like there are a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off running this team. Juaron was criticized by Bills faithful for doing the exact thing that Gailey is doing, so obviously this new regime is no different that what we have seen for the past 10 plus years. Is there anything more torturous than being a lifelong Bills fan?

You are missing that this is basically a transition year. There are no delusions of this team making the playoffs this year, it is one big, 16 week tryout.

Everyone talks about how we had 3 years of film on Trent, if film told the whole story, Ryan Leaf would have been a 10 time MVP. You have to see what you can work with, which is what we did. Trent showed what he could do in Preseason/Training Camp, then showed what he always does in regular season, so we got rid of him. It is an evaluation year, I don't know why people can't seem to grasp this.

Chan is evaluating what he has, right now, with his own eyes. Which happens to be the only way to do it correctly.

As far as the draft, Troupe is playing, and his role will increase as the season goes on. Easley got injured, but he was going to get his PT this year. Wang will get PT this year, and we will have four of our 9 draft picks contributing, and probably 5 if you add in Carrington.

Rebuilding is a process, it takes time, everyone just needs to step off of the ledge.

  9. Trent looked good in camp too...

Wait, so are you saying that Easley is in fact a bust without stepping on the field?

This whole thing is insane. This regime has had one draft and three games so far. Three games into last year, no one had ever seen Jairus Byrd play a snap. Does that mean that he was a complete bust. I get the frustration, it's been a long decade, but everyone needs to step back from the ledge. Rebuilding the right way takes more than one offseason and three weeks. Our draft picks will start playing, Wang is getting better, Carrington will see the field more, as will Troupe. Then we will have 4 of our 9 draft picks playing in their rookie year, and contributing. I think that makes it a successful draft.

  10. That's the problem with 1 way communication.

Anyone who said Spiller is a bust is just mad about the pick and there is merit to that. Spiller getting just 12 touches on a horrible team might have something to do with it too. But it's not Spiller's fault and is hardly an indictment of his rather ridiculous skills.

Lastly, at least Clausen is on the field at THE most important position. Unlike the Bills #2-7 picks on a talentless team. The mere fact that Fox's job is on the line is a huge endorsement of JC regardless of how crappy he played. I mean Fox took a team to a SB and is a career 71 and 54 coming into this year.

While not every play, Troupe is on the field, and with the way Easley looked early, they were saying he would have been on the field if not injured.

Them are the breaks. Still takes 3 years to evaluate a draft.

  11. No, it's not possible. These players and coaches are working for their lives. It's the highest level of sports. There's no such thing as tanking it.

The idea of lose-on-purpose-now to get-draft-picks-later thing is a myth!

With possibly the sole exception of the Pittsburg Penguins, I will agree with this.

  12. LMAO so the Bills drop the ball again. Could have traded Marshawn already and brought Bell up. Seems Nix is another 'great hire' by Ralph.

Yes, Buddy Nix is an awful GM because he let this years Gibran Hamden go. The kid had a good preseason, against #3's. He is going to be a serviceable RB, but there was no way he would see the field this year, so good for him.

  13. Actually, I predicted Packers 41 Bills 17. I am a realist and I expected very little from this team. My main point which you may have missed is that people here weren't objective and they slammed so many posters who were. I am wondering where those posters went?

What is improvement to you? I thought we upgraded the coaching position but thus far I have seen nothing that indicates this to be true.

Oh, by the way, I am very relaxed.

Well good work, you really showed those stupid optimistic Bills fans.

  14. at what do we blow this thing up yet again? it is the same old story for the past what 10 years? we still need to field a team. shouldn't edwards or any qb be managing the game? if trent dilfer can get a ring, so can we. we are a cold weather team. run it, run it, and run it. parcells has a system, get big on both lines. get big rb. get qb to manage the game.

we will be lucky to win 2 games.

Why don't we just get a new GM and coach every two games. I'm sure all the armchair generals here could do it. Or maybe it takes time, and maybe Rome wasn't built in a day, who knows.

People have to decide if they want to win 6-8 games a year and no playoffs. Or if they can bear a few awful years, or at least one, to get back to the feelings of the 90s.

I guess I'm saying everyone step back from the edge. We have talent, but we need a lot more. Don't blow it up or it will just take longer.

  15. The Bills are not a good team obviously, but they are the same 6-7 win teams that get blown out on the road to good teams as they have always been.

If you want to overreact after losing to everyone's Super Bowl pick, then fine, but the team will play better against non playoff teams.

Miami going into Minnesota andupsetting the Vikings also tells me Miami is the real deal. We just arent on their level and no one should be shocked we are 0-2. NE will be ugly like always as well. It will take time.

Come on, you aren't allowed to say that. This team is worse than most pop Warner teams, believe me I read it on this Board.

It can't be that we have a new system and it takes time to get used to it. Who cares that we ran the ball well, and stopped the run Okay as well.

Wish everyone would step off the ledge. That being said, it's time for a QB shakeup I think.

  16. Dont listen to that dumb analyst, Edwards made a bad throw. Johnson may not have finished the game if he was close enough to catch that Ball. Edwards hung him out. Throw it inside, Edwards has no feel for the game.

The 2nd one was just a bad play call by Gailey. Trent Edwards isnt smart enough to change a play so he just does what he is told, even if the play looks like a disaster.

Don't care if he laid him out. Ball hits your hands, you catch it.

He did take another look downfield, and actually stepped up in the pocket. Just happened to be no pocket to step into. Even as a pretty good Trent fan, it's time to move on. Let's see what someone else can do, and see if it is the line or the QB play.

  17. So much for Chan's offensive master mind. He is just like DJ was on the sideline a "bump on a log" wondering what he is going to eat after the game. I want a firey coach who gets in there face and shows some emotion on the sideline. I mean the Bills were in the game at the half. I just wondered what he said to them at half time. I was also a big time TE supporter but now I am getting tired of him as fast as the sun sets in the west. I say don't even put Fitz in we already know what he can do and play Brohm the rest of the way. Give him a chance and see what he has. Some people can't practice but come game time they perform. The way they played today we aren't winning a game this year. So let's get our choice at the top of the draft next year instead of taking what other teams dont want.

Face it, the coaches demeanor doesn't mean shite. I can go on the sidelines and yell, doesn't mean anything. We looked good for a bit this game. Trent played like crap, but he hit his wr in the hands on two picks that lead to scores, else the game is different. Our d looked great against a super bowl contender. No one actually cares about a coach who yells, just who can game plan. We had a good plan going in, but can't block and apparently can't catch.

Well turn it around, just not to salvage the season.

    Go Bills.

  18. The fact that Kelsey is the longest tenured pick we have at 7 years always slaps me in the face pretty hard. Hitting no one in the draft that you hold on to is not the road to success either.

Part of that points more to our consistently revolving door of coaches and GM's. When you consistently have new coaches coming in, they all want to make their own mark on the team. That means things like Pat Williams, Jabari Greer, Antoine Winfield et al getting the boot. We hit on a lot of our drafts over the past 10 years, we just don't keep them because by the time those guys are hitting their prime, we have a different coach with no loyalty to them.

I also think this is a big part of the problem of luring FA's here. I also think that obviously all of those issues are alleviated by winning, but I think that you can't underscore how much firing Wade, and to a lesser extent Mularky leaving had on the long term viability of this team over the last 10 years.

  19. i detest the pats. However, this year the jets have been getting so much attention that they have climbed really high on my dislike list.

having said that, i still prefer the pats to lose. LOVED THE RAVENS IN WEEK 1. they gave the jets a well deserved @ kick!

    how about you guys?

i vote for a jets win!
