  1. On the note of Fitz breaking the 3000 yard barrier, when was the last time a WR besides Lee Evans had 1000 yards? And it's not like Lee is even a lock to get to that mark, he's only done it in 2006 (the peak of JP's career here) and 2008 (the peak of Trent's career here)...congrats to Stevie Johnson on joining that group.

It is ironic that we should take time to give Stevie props, and all of our no name receiver core...but blast Fitz.

The WR's were a huge liability today. They dropped perfectly thrown balls on way, way too many occasions. I don't know if anybody else felt this way, but it sure looked like two of those picks were botched routes...Fitz throwing a timing pattern, with nobody running it.

But, yes, yes, let's give props to Stevie and the crew for all of the good that they do.

  2. I disagree. Fitzpatrick is not going to singlehandedly lead a team to the playoffs, like some of the best QBs in the NFL can. But if the team around him is above average, he is certainly good enough to guide them to 10-6 or 11-5. I really believe that.

There is not a QB that singlehandedly leads a team to the playoffs. There are QB's whose teams wouldn't be playoff teams without them, but that is different that leading them singlehandedly.

Fitz is a good QB, and I think he could be great. I don't think Chan cares about drafting "his guy," and I don't think anybody that has watched the games and seen the things Fitz has done would bench him and put a rookie out there. Fitz is young, he's smart, he's shown he can improve...you are looking at the QB of the Buffalo Bills. There will always be an argument, because people will never be happy, but an argument to replace Fitz is weak.

  3. I hate to say it, but they are better off than the bills. Shanahan is a very good coach, and they have a very good GM. With that leadership in place, they will spend money the right way and should be good soon. In addition, they already have more wins than they had last year. There is some garbage however, that needs to be removed from that team.

Shanahan is a good coach??? Maybe when he's not running his veteran players under the bus, or when he had John Elway. Elway really helped Shanny prove his "genius."

The bolded: You are right. Washington always makes great FA moves. In fact the only team that ever rivaled them was The Broncos, when Shanny had the ckeckbook. I am almost scared for the rest of the league to see what they do.

Also, they already have their franchise QB in Grossman, and all we have is a proven backup.

    You are so right.

  4. Few things are interesting...Byrd wash hurt, and since he has been able to play an entire game, he looks a lot better than last year. He doesn't have the picks, but he knows how to tackle, and has progressively gotten better in coverage. Funny to hear how big of a disappointment he is.

Whitner is not a top 3 Safety, but I think he is top 10. I don't know if anybody here ever had a situation where the more they did something the better they got at it, or if any of them didn't do all of their best work by the time they were 25, but Donte might be that kind of guy...you know, like all of the D-backs we have let walk.

"Don't mention him in the same sentence as..." Greer was a !@#$ing back up. Leonard was a special teamer. Clements was good and his production fell off when he took STUPID money to play in SF. Winfield was one of my favorites, and was good here, but go arguably better once he left...why? Because he developed as a player, physically and mentally. He played out the rookie contract and went on to enjoy his prime.

I defend Whitner, but that is probably because I watch all of the games, and I don't give a !@#$ if it is popular to like him or not. The guy is a damn good defender, and we are going to have a sizable hole to fill if he walks...ANOTHER sizable hole.

If we let Whitner go, we take 2 steps back.

I don't think anything is written in stone, he is just emotional and getting all upset over the first stage of negotiations. I bet Chan doesn't want to lose him, either, and the contract will get done, and all of you can scream and cry and mail in "fan cards," or whatever it is you do over the amount. Can't wait.

  5. As long as he starts growing it again at the beginning of TC...

I sport the bearded look, and I can tell him that shaving that bad boy in January will be a mistake. I usually don't sheer mine until, at the earliest the beginning of Spring Training games, but most of the time it isn't to March.

  6. I guess I didn't see this as a call out... I think that Chan has a goal of having his players ready for NFL action when they step on the field, not thrown out there to learn. This is a different philosophy than we are used to, hopefully the results are different too. From the frying pan into the fire seemed to stunt a lot of the growth here over the last few years.

The curious case of CJ Spiller, and the rest of the rookies to a lesser degree, is maddening, because we all want somebody different than we've had, and we are hungry for a successful draft. I think that we'll see during Chan's tenure, which is hopefully a long one, that rookies aren't going to be handed jobs, and are likely to not see much PT their first year.

Again, CJ is a tough case, because we are all dying for that explosiveness, but Freddie is a pro's pro, and it is going to be hard to unseat him.

  7. OP, you don't have a family do you?

I bet you don't have a job that has you locked into one spot for the better part of the next decade, which happens to be a good chunk of your childrens' youth...including your son with leukemia.

It is hilarious that you as strongly as you do, like you or another fan has been "wronged," but you go and put out in a message board. Lee's decision was not meant to hurt anybody, but he has played his whole life for this very moment. I am sure when you sign your 120+ Million dollar deal, you might take a second and think about it...no a hero like you would just pull the trigger and go with the first instinct, to save to poor, poor fans from being strung along.

  8. Okay, somebody has to ask:

What is Curtis Modkin's role in all this? Is he the sorcerer's apprentice? The heir apparent?

Shhh...Curtis doesn't want anybody asking that... he is getting a paycheck, and the ladies, that go with be an OC in the NFL, all while not having to do any of the dirty work. He also isn't on the hook if the offense sputters. So,Curtis has, respectfully of course, asked that you keep his name out your mouf.

  9. Carolina drafted 2 franchise QBs last year?

Well...they actually drafted 3. Tony Pike was taken by the Panthers as well.

I don't think they are "Franchise" QB's, but outside of 3, Peyton, Brady, and Ben, it is hard for me to anoint that title to any other QB in the NFL...if I did call anybody a "Franchise QB."

These three guys don't really fit the bill as they were drafted too late to automatically have the cumbersome moniker heaped upon them...Clausen was, supposedly, the best QB available, and Buddy fell asleep in his pancakes at Denny's then Ralph's Taurus wouldn't start, so we missed out on drafting him. I guess that it was just dumb luck, because everybody knew he would be good. As it turns out he is winning just below his college average.

  10. Physically there are some subtle differences - body make up lends itself towards whites being better swimmers and blacks being better runners.... As silly as that sounds. Muscle make up, center of gravity, equilibriums and such... There are many articles about it.

Mentally I think a lot of pop Warner, highschool and even college coaches funnel players into stereotypes - high motor and intelligent vs elite athleticism. Same reason people compare Toby gerhart to John alstott.

Or the reason Cam Newton has to be like Vick or Vince Young?

  11. When you stop to think about the Levi/Brohm situation, it makes you wonder whether they even need the headache of having to evaluate ANOTHER unproven NFL commodity. Makes you think that QB couldn't be lower priority..

You keep swimming against the tide, here.

When the season ended last year...everybody "knew" we needed a QB. When the season started this year, we all still "knew" this, only to have it reinforced by the **** show Trent put on. With Fitzpatrick, he never stood a chance, because he, as we all "know," is only a backup. So, before this whole season started, we "knew" we had to watch college football and find our savior.

So, it has really been planned, and you coming around, clouding the issue with fact, and reasonable observations, are not going to be able to change what so many people have "known" for so long.

I am with you...and I think Chan and Buddy will be too.

  12. Pleasantly surprised by a thread showing a little Fitz-loving...usually it is all hate, and how we have to replace him with a kid, with an huge contract, and accompanying ego...that will more likely than not be more of a problem than a solution.

Fitzy is our guy...let's run with it.

  13. I went to the Titans game last year. My wife and sister weren't interested, and my brother in law was too tight to pony up for a ticket...so I went by myself. I had no problem at all. Of course, I also wasn't drunk, but their fans were really respectful, and I think we all understood that it was a game, and I had an overall great experience.

Seeing this **** is !@#$ing pathetic.

  14. I would like to point out that there as a similar play when Byrd took the ball away from Mendenhall (sp) and was going to go the endzone untouched.... they blow the whistle, replay, we get the ball, but lose out on the TD we should have had.

That play yesterday....I always joke about the "football move." After that play, I believe I know what a football move is...then they call it an incomplete pass...we don't get the TD.

The officiating is atrocious. I hate to sound like a Steelers fan, but I do not remember it ever being as bad as it has this year.

The bad part is that the officials are becoming too much a part of the game.

  15. You'd have zero chance of relocation. The NHL would not allow it. If Bettman would only field offers from owners looking to keep the team in Buffalo last time, you'd have to think it would be much the same this time. Also, Buffalo is the NHL's #1 US market. No chance of relocation.

Don't cloud the issue with the facts.

This is Buffalo, and we have to feel like everything/everyone is going to **** on us, and leave us high and dry. Whoa is Buffalo...

If there ever is a serious threat of one of the teams moving, nobody would be able to organize any kind of serious grass roots movement to try to stop it...they'd be too busy crying how they got !@#$ed. It is seriously !@#$ing pathetic.

  16. They should waive the personnel evaluator who recommended signing him. I'm serious. How does that person continue to collect a paycheck? What possibly could qualify as "failure" within OBD enough to warrant termination?

Yeah, and considering there was 200 starting RT's available, and we pick Green...then we didn't give him any bonus money, fire everybody!!!!!
