he had better not be named starter, barring injury, ever again. EVER. AGAIN!

And if watch Peterman at Pitt and this preseason he does like finding the TE.
the middle of the field seems to be an area peterman feels comfortable throwing to. he gets plenty of zip on those balls that are going forward, so i like this idea.

That's not good.
On the bright side, I'm happy to see Croom active, which makes me think we'll see a lot of Clay, Thomas, and Croom in the passing game.
i am also hoping to see the TE'S get involved in the game plan today. big targets that can move!

I kind of like O'Leary. Seems to be one of those guys who can find the seam and get open despite a lack of athleticism. But he is limited, and on this team there isn't a whole lot of room for an O'Leary type. Clay is a receiver-first TE, under a huge (mistake) contract. Croom shows real talent, but is a converted receiver. Thomas is a fantastic athlete - the type a rebuilding team needs to keep around - but is a converted WR and then QB. So you need the blocking TE on the roster unless you're going to dump one of the more talented athletes (or the hugely expensive underperformer). I think Lee winds up playing a lot ...
yeah, i liked o'leary as well. but i think the potential and athletic ability of these other TE's made him expendable. i am sad to see him go, but ultimately happy that they are trying to upgrade the position. i have been wanting the Bills to try to use the TE more, and also to try to upgrade the position to insulate the passing game.

The problem with the three-headed monster at RB is, without a downfield passing game, it's extremely hard to run when they put 24-27 in the box.
hopefully they will be able to execute the passing game well enough to loosen up the defense for the run game. balance is always what they want to achieve. i think it will ultimately come down to how well peterman is running the offense. because we have all seen what shady can do with a little bit of breathing room, and ivory and murphy should definitely be able to compliment that if the other parts of the offense are working well enough.

We will probably being him back after Clay gets hurt. Still can't believe we kept Khari Lee instead of O'Leary
Lee is apparently the best blocker of our TE group. this may well be of importance because of the state of the offensive line.

There are so many factors. You need talent, football intelligence, good coaching, and chemistry to win a championship. Talent is not enough by itself, it’s the NFL, every team has talent.
i think you also need a little bit of luck. unless you are a completely dominant team in every phase of the game, luck definitely plays a part.

Just that, as bad as it was, it’s about to go back to Trent Edwards, maybe worse.
Let’s watch tomorrow and then circle back.
maybe I’m missing something
i don't know if i would call it trent edwards-esque. maybe more fitz-like. edwards was just a neverending series of dump offs to the running backs and tight ends at or behind the line of scrimmage. fitz was a quick passing qb that had a lot more determination than ability. say what you want about fitz, the guy did not turtle and did not throw walk out of bounds on 4th and the season five yards short of the sticks.

Or...he is just another in a long line of not quite good enough to make it/barely good enough to make a roster-guys, that have passed through the training camps of the NFL for decades.
It's nice that he works hard, says all the right things etc...yay.
yeah, i get it. i will just never trash a guy for doing his best and being a good guy. if he were a raging d-bag, that's another story. his ceiling very well may be a serviceable backup. but we need one of those too.

We’ll finally be able to see Trent Murphy in action. Hopefully they put a band-aid on his groin pre-game.
at this point, i am just really, really hoping it is not the season long lingering pain in the @$$ that some groin injuries tend to be. especially for a big guy that needs to shoot off the ball and try to use speed and leverage.

He blows.
He's the kind of guy that wins the job by posting himself next to the new OC's office to help him move in, and making sure to leave the practice field last so the coach says "wow, this guy is just so dedicated!"
or...he is a good kid with physical limitations that has been working his @$$ off to be the best he can be and try to win this job with all the odds against him.

Casual NFL fans have no idea who Nathan Peterman is. He is playing with house money
no one expects anything great and we have a young kid waiting on deck... if he plays good it is a bonus for us because we can win games this year, give Allen some competition to win the job, and have some trade bait in the future
or we have a long term backup
very true. but the Ralph (still can't call it New Era) will not be filled with casual fans on Sundays. and these are the games i worry about.

In some ways, it is better that he is playing on the road. If this game was at New Era, boos for him and booze for us could come very early.
this is exactly what i fear. i want to see allen as early as possible, but i also want to see nate get his fair shake. i really fear it could get ugly for peterman. quickly.

i voted for "B" in both cases. it seems they went for splash over substance, and oldschool over new to begin in both organizations. but then they seemed to go a bit younger, with a more focused direction in both cases, so there is hope.

He doesn’t have that much to prove. He is a 5th round QB who is keeping the seat warm for a first round pick
Nobody expected him to be anything other than MAYBE a backup... except saviorpeterman ... he should only be trying to prove to himself he can play.. not care about anyone else
yeah, but everyone knows him as the guy that threw five picks in a half. historically bad. i'm sure he wants that taste out of his mouth. and i am also pretty sure that he will have to move mountains in order to silence some of his harsher critics. not to mention, there will be a large contingent of fans screaming for the rookie with every drive not resulting in a td. that is some serious pressure.

hope this dog just immediately fits in with the family. we have been fostering dogs for a little over a year now, and when these pups find their furever homes, it is such a wonderful feeling! dogs are truly amazing.

I haven't read the whole thread, so this may have been mentioned...
I'm not a big beer drinker, although I will have a flight in a beer emporium. I like wine. When I first started drinking wine, I didn't know jack about wine and my taste buds were like "mmmm sweet and fizzy!". Fast forward 15 years and now my husband sometimes cringes at what we pay for a bottle of wine (that is in no way sweet or fizzy). My taste buds have matured. I would guess it would be the same with beer. What tastes great to an 18-year-old with no money tastes like piss-water to a 40-year-old with developed taste buds.? ? ?
i think this is very true. the first time i had a "craft beer", it was an ipa. i had no idea what an ipa was. instantly, i wondered what kind of illness the people drinking it were suffering from. as i grew older, and tried more beers, i found out what all the fuss was about. i like a good ipa in the summertime, then when it comes to fall and winter i find myself really enjoying the stouts and porters. and there are many different ales that are a lot of fun to try. to each their own, i guess.

I agree. I think that's what McD saw last season and why he gave Peterman the start. Ugly as that start was, I don't think it changed McDs mind. He had no choice but to go back to Tyrod then, but it's a new season and he's seeing the same things in Peterman that he liked last season.
I seriously doubt it's ego.
i agree with this. and just because peterman had an all time awful performance does not make it the wrong move. taylor and the offense were throwing up all over themselves for a few games prior to that game. something needed to change, and what we saw from peterman in the preseason seemed to be just what was missing from taylor's game. we know that coach likes peterman's character and work ethic, and we know that he likes the way he approaches the position. what we don't know, is how that will translate to the field. but we will find out in just a few days.

Could be the case. I am fine Allen not being ready. I just dont agree with Peterman being the guy you go with. I think psychology can play a role in peoples decisions, especially those with big egos. In my mind there are and were so many better options than Peterman even if Allen is not the guy.
i think peterman probably plays the position the way coach wants his qb to play it. quick decisions, and well placed balls (hitting a guy with timing and rhythm) i think is what they want. i know that peterman has physical limitations, but allen does not. maybe nate was seen as a better mentor/backup than mccarron.

i voted 20% simply because of arm strength and offensive line concerns. i doubt it will happen, but it could. and if it does, it could definitely snowball.

Allen is the guy. If they can develop Peterman, and heck maybe Lynch on the practice squad or something, they have trade chips. Just like AJ McCarron, I think this is a case of collecting assests to maybe make some sort of trade in the future.
Tyrod fetched a third. So did Bridgewater. McCarron got a fifth. I think this idea makes sense.
Lynch needs to be rehabbed and has to put down the PlayStation controller. But there is still potential there, so I am okay with it. It's about collecting assets.
this is about what i was thinking as well. coach this kid up and put out some rumors that he is really buying in and studying hard. then flip him for a draft pick or a depth player.

Valid point. Rich Gannon was also the king of dink and dunk.
and that can work for a while, but eventually you will have to throw the ball down the field or else everything else will eventually be nullified. this is why we have to hope that allen can put it all together. if he does, then the ol will look better, rb's will break off some bigger runs, and the receivers will all look much better than they are. again...see tom brady.
