Asked this in the gameday thread, but I'll ask it again here for those who are completely outraged by the outcome this month...

Q: How many of you predicted 0-4 to start the season?

Corollary Q: If you predicted 0-4, why are you outraged at 1-3?

because when we predicted 0-4, we were resigned to being horrible. first pick in the draft horrible. then last week happened, our qb played like he had an iron will and was defiant. our defense played lights out. and we were given hope. hope is an awful, awful thing.

Yeah obviously he is a big threat missing, but we need to pressure Rodgers or he will pick us apart with guys we've never heard of

absolutely. but the inverse is that if one of their best WR's is out, hopefully the next man up is a bit of a drop off, and will struggle a bit more getting open. which, in turn, causes rodgers to hold the ball a tiny bit longer.

Most def. This is Josh Allens team. Gone are the days of Tyrod, Pick5Petey, and the Joe Webb package.

We actually have a QB now. Youre right, He won the team over with all the heart he showed that game. They will play hard for him.

i won't go as far as to say we have our franchise guy for the next 15 years, but it definitely feels different than it has with the last few possibilities. the talent is there, there is no denying. but the impressive thing is that he seems to be getting better and learning from mistakes. and then there are the jaw dropping plays. can't wait 'til he makes a couple of those plays with his arm. although, he could already have a couple with a little help from his receivers.

WITHOUT any flags. Just looking at him mean might get 15 yards these days.

Yeah, I’m talking to YOU, Jerry. Great game last week, let’s keep it up and leave flags in the pocket.

this will be incredibly tough. after all, this is A A Ron Rodgers we are talking about here. and if Matthews gets flagged for another one and throws a stink, they could be looking for a make up flag. and hughes has a bit of a reputation out there as well.

The Bills are - right now - a team that's hard to predict.

The defense played at the college level for 6 quarters then played lights out for the next 6.  Our moribund offense actually looked capable in the first half this past Sunday.

And it's hard to know what we really have with Allen.  The kid is certainly energetic and has a live arm.  While I am projecting a generally positive trend line this season, I would hesitate to predict his performance in any particular game.  His  progress might be more like 2 steps forward, 1 step back.

After the surprising beat down of the Vikes, I thought to ask, "Will the real Buffalo Bills please stand up?"

No outcome - good or bad - in the Packs game would surprise me.

i won't pretend to be able to predict it, but i sure as hell can't wait to watch it!

Nice to hear but one game does not make a season.  Let’s hope there are positive steps forward each week with a strong finish at the end of the season.

truer words, my friend. but what we saw in this one game was more than just the sun shining on the dog's behind (i hope). i think most of us were all set for the up and down season with the rookie qb to see what we've got. and last week's game showed us that this kid has got a whole lot of "want to". i am still fully expecting a roller coaster ride this season, full of ups and downs. but i think we could be in for one helluva ride!

You can't win them all. They took a risk knowing he was injured last year.

they took the risk, but i think it was a calculated risk. three year contract, i believe (i have no idea how the money breaks down), knowing that next year they open up a flood gate of cap cash and have a bunch of draft picks. if he works out, he is a high effort guy with enough talent to make some noise opposite jerry hughes. and if he doesn't work out, then you have pretty much only lost out on this year, which is a bit of a "house money" type of year anyway.

Sad how little Ted Darling comes up when talking about Buffalo sports announcers. Cancer robbed him too early, but he was magnificent! Like Thurman to Barry Sanders, Ted kept Jennerette on the bench..

i don't remember ever hearing Ted Darling. growing up, we were big Bills fans but not real big sabres fans, or hockey fans in general. it wasn't until i was a bit older that i started following them, and listening to the radio call.

    Advanced Stat Alert:

Fitz maintains a 1.32 TD:INT ratio for his career.  Through 2 games this season Fitz has thrown a staggering 8 TDs and only 1 interception. The numbers suggest Fitz is due for a 1 TD, 6 interception night #RegressionToTheMean

this may be the case, but i still love me some Fitzy! i would love to see him break all kinds of records all the way to the Superbowl! if for nothing else, but for all the talking heads and experts to lose their friggin' minds, eat a bunch of $#!! sammiches, and have to smile through it. odds are against it, but give this man his delusions for the evening.

Allen is special.  Already the most entertaining QB in the league to watch.

i love his competitive fire. he seems like a good kid. and it appears he is learning from his mistakes and growing every week (i know it is a small sample size, but darn it, it's exciting!). we know he has the rocket launcher and the athleticism, but it appears he is really working on what were supposed to be the apparent flaws in his game. oh yeah, and this kid's highlight reel is full of positive expletives...i cannot wait for the next game!

I was mostly kidding, and understand what you are getting at.  But there is a difference.  Fitz "takes chances" .  Allen executes difficult to execute plays.  He is not taking chances.

fitz is an absolute gambler, because he has a "gunslinger's" mentality in a game manager's body. Allen has all the tools you could ever want, and appears to have the work ethic and desire as well. and he has already displayed some serious leadership skills, both on the field and on the sideline. i am all kinds of excited for this kid!

Ha! No need to crush you, I know what you're saying.  It's important for a QB to have a little Fitz in him if you know what I mean.  Tyrod could have used it.

my man crush on Fitz is well documented here in the hallowed halls of TBD. i have always respected him for giving everything he had and being a good guy, and such an interesting and entertaining guy.

In honor of Josh Allen day, I won't crush you for saying that.  But that is the only free pass.  Other than the fact that they play the same position, there is nothing similar about them.  Allen could also never grow the fitzpatrick mountain man beard.

the fearless attitude on the field. allen has so much more natural talent than Fitz. but i have always said the Fitz approaches the position the way i want my qb to play it.

  12. i went with underrated. he had the misfortune of following an absolute legend in Van Miller, but i think Murph does a very good job. as Buffalo sports fans, we are extremely spoiled to have been able to hear two of the all time greats in Van and Rick Jeanneret. Murph is very good at what he does, and with more talent, more big moments, and more important games, he will only be shown to be the announcer that he is.

Wow, I'm not there yet.  I never felt sick on 3rd downs with Tyrod.  I remember that guy picking up plenty of 3rd downs with crazy runs and pocket escapes.

yeah, tyrod definitely had his share of highlights while in buffalo. but this past season, they seemed to be less frequent. but allen seems to be not only dynamic with his arm and legs...this dude's "want to" is off the charts! don't crush me for saying this, but he plays like Fitz but with the physical tools to back it up.
