His time will come...Neither Peterman nor AJ can make that kind of throws.  I don't want Allen thrown to the wolves when our first 5 of 7 games are on the road.

i think this is exactly right. the problem here is when we are losing, i have had a few beverages, and i start yelling at the tv. i know this is the right course of action, but it may be very hard to take if the offense becomes stagnant at any point. if we are going to struggle, i will want to see the kid sling that ball. but i also believe that once you put him in, he is in there for good, there is no going back.

  2. i find myself agreeing with the "i NEED more Allen" crowd here. he was far from perfect, but he was fun, exciting, and showed all the reasons that one would be hopeful for. he showed the ability to make throws that so many quarterbacks just physically cannot make. there was a little bit of fire, and a whole lot of effort from him. i liked what i saw in the debut, and can't wait for the next installment!

You also still have to play to earn that money. It's not guaranteed if you retire or simply don't want to play. But that being said I think most football players want to go out and play the game. Once the money is taken care of that's great but the competition and thrill of the chase motivates them.

i believe this to be very true.

    it's a business.

it sure is. and we all have different motivations for doing our jobs, and put in varying degrees of effort.

I wonder how many of us would continue going into work everyday if we had won a $50 million lottery. What's really amazing is how many players continue going all out, risking their physical and mental health, after signing one of today's multimillion dollar guaranteed contracts. I honestly don't know if it's something to be admired, or questioned.

i think most people that get the big money are also driven by the competitive nature and the burning desire to be the best. to make it to the hall of fame. to be immortalized among their heroes. it's not just the money. it's the glory.

    Awesome!!!

One more observation from Slayer .... when we saw them at the small venue in NYC last year, Tom Araya talked A LOT.  Wicked hippie talk.  Peace, love, treat each other well etc.  I dug it.

At the show last week, they just played.  Almost non-stop.  There wasn't even a "hey, Albany, great to be here," or anything like that.  I think he may have spoken a couple times between songs, for 10 seconds each time.  They were on a mission to rock.

very much the same at the show at Darien Lake. complete mission to rock their set as hard as possible with no messing around. no encores, no breaks. i think with a show and venue like that it was all business during an allotted time. they came. the rocked. they kicked some serious @$$!

Ok, I see what you're saying and it makes sense.  I do wonder what percentage of people would consider the Mario signing a success or a disappointment.

i would consider it both. it was incredible that he chose Buffalo. then the contract was such that he could never be worth the money. there were amazing games and baffling disappearances. he was incredible with schwartz, horrible with ryan. he was quirky when we were successful, and a disgruntled diva when we weren't. it was the very definition of a "mixed bag".

    My sentiments, exactly!

This was our 3rd time seeing Lamb of God (opened for Slipknot in 2015, then Slayer last year).  I really like their live performances.  He always says, "We're from Richmond, Mother !@#$ing Virginia."  Hilarious.

I don't know any music from any of these bands.  My son is the metal head.  But I can appreciate talent and all bands brought it.

I'm 47 and Slayer was huge with the metal fans back when I was in high school.  I never listened to them.  Now here I am, 30 years later, and I've seen them twice in two years.

Last year's show was at a small theater below MSG.  Couple thousand seating capacity.  I was sick as a dog that night, but pretended to love it for my son's sake.

Metal crowds are always cool, from my experience.  Always have a great time.

Glad you liked the show as much as I did!

i will be hitting 43 later this year, and the last show i saw was TooL in pittsburgh in 2002 or 2003. i have always loved metal music (not that burp metal that the Barbarian listens to) but as i get older i keep thinking that the only bands i would want to see, i am too damn old to go see! but this show was great. very relaxed throughout most of the day, and then got more and more intense as it went on. as yo said, all bands really brought it! it was pretty obvious that they had all been doing this for decades. and metal heads are much like Bills fans...bat crap crazy, but mostly friendly and good at heart.

but going to this show really, really, REALLY made me want to get upi to the Ralph (i don't think i can ever call it New Era Field) and do some serious tailgaiting!

I'll wait for you to write how you liked it before I give my review (to avoid any spoilers).  I will say a couple things, however:  one of the local radio stations posted the start/end times for each band.  They were on schedule to the second.  Impressive.  And Slayer was the loudest band I've ever heard in my life; I've been to a lot of concerts.  Enjoy!!

it's quite a few days after the show now, but i gotta say, i loved it! Anthrax was a lot of fun. Napalm Death was really good (though i really knew nothing of them) and Barney was pretty funny talking in between songs. Testament was fantastic, they just sounded great. Lamb of God was incredible. and while i was never a huge Slayer fan, they sure made a believer out of me. they were Phenomenal! and the crowd was great all day and into the night...until Slayer came on. that's when the people that head been power drinking for 12+ hours came in and made the world their mosh pit. it was insane, but never out of control. loved it. five days later and i still don't have my voice all the way back.

ps...paying $12/beer when i have a cooler full in the parking lot sucks!

thanks Gug. i am very curious about this show. i know almost nothing about Napalm Death. Lamb of God is probably the heaviest band i listen to. and i kinda grew up with Slayer, Anthrax and Testament. i hop that Tom Araya still has his Santa Claws beard going, that is just too funny...Santa cranking out some evil thrash tunes!

Slayer, Anthrax, Lamb of God, Napalm Death and Testament tonight.

The things I do for my son. :D

i am going to this show friday night at Darien Lake. i have a feeling this is going to be the "i'm too old for this ****" concert. still love the music, but there is no way i can survive a mosh pit, or a circle pit, or any other kind of pit.

  11. i can't even download the radio.com app. it says my phone is not compatible with the app. which sucks, because i drive a lot for work and it was nice to listen to the on demand playback from the wgr app. i can listen through the website, but it seems to need about 99% of my phone's power to do so.

  12. my daughter met him the year he was drafter at the Kiss the Summer Hello concert at Canalside. she got to go rub elbows with some Buffalo Bills and some of the musical guests in the vip tent when she did the Bald for Bucks thing. she was more excited about megan trainer and a bunch of people i had never heard of. but she got her picture taken with Reggie Ragland, Adolphus Washington, and Cardale Jones.

But despite being a family member this family member is not even being given a chance for slot on roster this year.

despite the family atmosphere (perceived or otherwise), this is still a professional sports team, and a business. every year the team is different. but it's the core group you have to hope buys in. if they buy in, and perform well, then that can be huge. all the other role players, and the narratives around them, change. and sometimes a few of us wacky fans make a bit more of it than what is there. anyway, i really like seeing that kind of enjoyment from the players.

That was an awesome play by the old qb and Tate on 2nd and 20 vs OAK.  Made a few amazing cuts for the first then got mobbed on the sideline and Coach McD was leading the way. Was definitely a play that stuck with me throughout the season.

    What a fun season.

that was one of those moments that really made it seem like this was more than just a bunch of guys playing football together. it was a team. it was a group of guys that genuinely cared for one another, bought into the family aspect of it all. those, to me, are the "Buffalo" moments.

  15. i would vote for the seemingly innocent 12-15 yard pass to Brandon Tate (i believe) when the sideline blew up . that was pretty well representative of the season. but between the two choices given, gotta go with Kyle. this past season really solidified his place in the hearts of Bills fans. we have always love to root for him. great guy, great story...but this past season he kinda rounded that corner towards "Buffalo Bills Icon".

This is is worse than the idea to bring Freddie back

that's why you bring them BOTH back. and bring back Chan as the run game coordinator. and i guess curtis modkins as rb's coach?
