  1.

Lawson could absolutely refuse to have surgery. And he might have done fine without it, wearing a brace. Hence the reason Whaley praised him for changing his mind.

Or Jaylon Smith, who still has foot drop 4 months after surgery.

yes, but our guys surgery will go better. why? because were the bills? yep. that's it. or was it that young athletes always do well after surgery?

  2.

What you're missing is that Lawson felt he could play through it, like he did in college. The team felt otherwise after what happened in practice, otherwise they'd have scheduled surgery 2 weeks ago.

They need to hire Ben Rhodes.

    Oops, wrong forum.

what you're missing is that it doesn't matter what lawson thinks or wants. the bills are in control. that's pretty scary for the fans but good lord, how scared must lawson be?

  3. Ah, I see.

No doubt the Bills FO could have framed the story differently. They often aren't very good in setting the narrative.

Bottom line is they took a calculated risk that he could play the season and postpone the surgery until after it was completed.

I seriously doubt they lost any would-be ticket buyers.

    GO BILLS!!!

the narrative? hell they could read dr seuss at pressers and i'd be happy as long as they produced a good team every decade or so. that's the narrative anyone buying tickets should consider.

  4.

To me it's semantics. Whether Lawson didn't want surgery or didn';t feel he needed surgery, and whether the team forced him or convinced him is immaterial. The gist is that Lawson was ready to play with it and the Bills might have let him if it didn't show itself to be a problem so soon/in practice.

no the gist is that they didn't anticipate it on draft day or did and weren't forthcoming. if i'd bought tickets in the interim, i'd be pi$$ed. fortunately, i didn't.

  5.

So it appears that Lawson didn't want to have surgery but the team forced it on him after what happened in practice. Oh well, let's hope he's back in 4 months and not 6.

so wait. he doesn't have the final say in whether he has surgery or not? the bills determine what he does with his body. do they sign the consent? is that in his contract?

and if so,, what does it matter what he wants?

  6. Come. On i expect better from you. First his last year was his one and only year as a starter.

being brutally honest he and every athelete with NFL aspirations knows they are being scouted

On each and every play. They know the high stakes and millions of dollars at stake. depending on where

They are slotted. This is simply

IMO another in a long list of OBD thinking they are the smartest guys in the room. Sorry 16 years and running 3 with Whaley say otherwise. Perhaps after drafting

Him a comment and understanding similar to a certain injured back drafted years ago along the lines of

" he is injured we will correct this before we risk a career ending injury" would float way better than what Whaley said.

Which in another thread you conveniently refused to rely to me what he said after calling me out as being wrong. I was

Not wrong. The Bills called him a day 1 starter. This is irregardless of his talent or potential. OBD chest pumping that on their

Board they got two first round picks in round 1&2 looks foolish no? Of course I am wrong and negative because I simply am not a Whaley ball washer. Like the usual suspects here. it's laughable.

yes, all good points. i use all small letters, you don't use punctuation. to each his own but i totally agree with your points.

26 dismisses you with a flick of the back of his hand. don't take it personally. he does the same to any bills critic. it's what he does.

anyone know what the going rate is for astroturfers on a per post basis?

  7. irrelevant to the discussion, idiot.

wake, mecklenberg, buncombe have turned over a lot. guilford and forsyth a little. but, you get surry, you get wilkes, you get watuga, ashe, carteret, brunswick, onslow, bladen, bertie, beaufort, hyde, etc... how much have those turned over would you guess?

i would bet 617/752 of the state has been here at least 1 generation at the very least.

been through carter county. would have to agree with you on that place.

  8. so you're saying that the descendants of these people that remember all this and make up the majority of the voting population in these areas. I doubt it. I think I mentioned that it goes back to Lincoln. and it does for the few stalwart confederates. those indifferent or sympathetic to the north should be unaffected by the war in regards to voting. they nor their ancestors lost anything.

    fixed

  9. OK so you can't explain it. So why the hell are you talking about it?

NC government goes back to the civil war with western NC sympathetic to the north and central to western more indifferent as their lives had little to do with what was fought for - so much as individual rights, and slave labor. They were much more like the north in that they had hope for further development which would offer jobs etc.

Eastern was full of mills and slave labor as well as the coast and taxes and tarrifs that the ports did not want to pay as they saw no federal assistance.

Start with that. And work out the rest on your own.

I stand when I piss. I don't need his potty. I'd piss all over his pretty seat.

so you're saying that the descendants of these people that remember all this and make up the majority of the voting population in these areas. I doubt it. 10. no. For governorship over the last 4- 5 decades.

Why state level Dems and local repubs?

Why Roy Cooper for 307 yrs?

Why are so many sheriff's out east dem?

Why so many out west republican?

    Do you understand NC?

why don't you explain it. i know that local dems in rural va are still very different from national dems. there aren't too many that support gun control, abortion rights or union empowerment, for example. you won't find any that support regulating tobacco as a drug. perhaps that's what you mean

if not, enlighten me on nc political science.

  11. ok, one sentence about the history of north carolina

can you explain it ever since? can you explain why almost all of the state votes republican locally yet support democrats for gov?

and can you explain how you think the gov knows what is best for nc better than nc does?

and can you explain how you became so smart?

almost all the state? romney won by 2 percent in 2012. mccain lost nc to obama in 2008.

i suspect you are referring to the geographic distribution of dem and repub in the state. no big mystery there. similar reasons for why the dixiecrats refused to be in the party of lincoln.

  12. I would like to actually hear your opinions. You post articles. You state party #statemenrs. But can you construct a thought of your own to contribute to this and why it is for the better good in your opinion, of course, that NC undo the law? That the elected officials on both sides passed? That Charlotte was in the right to make a law above the state?

Seriously, you're an educated man it seems and I have no problem with anything about you. I'd drink a beer with ya, even. But I also think you're a god damn arrogant retard who thinks too highly of himself and your moral abilities

So please seriously take time to open up your thoughts. I'm sure they'll be empty

hey moron. 237 years this state has been lead by a democratic governor of the last 256. The congress of this state has been democratically led for over 200 of those years.

And now mccrory and his party have done all this in 3 yrs? Guess it shows how weak the democrats are.

    Idiot

dixiecrats were far removed from modern day dems. two very different species

  13.

^ This is a great way to put it.

Step 1: Convince the public they need you

Step 2: Ensure that the public cannot live without your assistance

Step 3: Push an agenda that is not popular "for the good of the people"

Step 4: Threaten withholding promised assistance if you don't accept their agenda

Step 5: Laugh at the public because they are so dependent.

because conservative nc pols play no part in getting pork for their own state... it's all a liberal conspiracy to get conservartive voters hooked on subsidies and for liberal states to pay bills of states that will likely never vote for the same national candidates.

  14.

You're trying to have this discussion with a person who believes that Americans are simply too stupid to do anything by themselves, and that the only way this country should be run is by and through the federal government. He essentially would like the US to be more like North Korea, but maybe with better lighting.

one of your most flagrant strawmen and that's saying a lot.

After the blatant threats to withhold funding, how do you expect Americans to support giving even more of their money to the government to provide "free" healthcare, and college education; Especially when they hear politicians (and you) declare Medicaid/Medicare and Social Security as "gifts" of the benevolent government, that can be taken away, despite forcing citizens to directly pay into them.

You don't think people will notice when schools and businesses get shut down because they disagreed with political correctness (an idea that is rapidly becoming toxic) in favor of protecting families?

Education is a right! ...Unless you don't agree with us, then we'll withhold funds until you capitulate!

What's interesting is that the left seems to believe that the best way to convince people they're wrong is to tell them they're too stupid to understand the issue. Probably not a good idea to insult the vast majority of Americans living outside the liberal bubble.

cheerleading and hs football. essential to making nc better educated? I think not. but some nc residents might disagree.

  15. I have heard this sentiment from the article many times:

"You don't want to come to North Carolina, don't come. Go someplace else," she says, laughing. "Happy the way it is. Leave North Carolina alone."

except don't leave it alone with handouts. don't even mention the possibility that you'll cut subsidies from the feds. why should we not get more back from taxes than we pay? but those footing the bill, you stay the hell away if you don't share our cultural values. and while we're at it, obamacare is a disaster but don't touch my Medicaid. except it should be changed to pay for Viagra...and rogaine and... etc.

  16.

    There can only be disaster.

    Love me some Bills.

so you surmise that fans like me actuallly want the bills to make stupid, wasteful counterproductive moves. you think we'd not prefer to point a finger at other teams laughing wildly at how boneheaded their management is while actually cheering for a good team. you are wrong. the only good is see from this development is that i'll probably not reactivate direct tv come the fall.

  17. is there any news that big cat and 26 cornerblitz find upsetting much less demoralizing re the bills? how this can be viewed as anything other than disastrous can only have 1 of a few explanations: lunacy, stupidity or being astroturf posters on the bills payroll. so which is it?

  18. The liberals are focusing solely on the transgender issue. In every media outlet condemning North Carolina (whether it be MSNBC, or Youtube) they refuse to mention anything else.

On the other hand, every conservative conversation goes straight to talking about sexual predators and protecting families; starting every argument with a statement saying they don't even care if tranny's use the restroom or not.

Can anyone guess which argument the vast majority of Americans relate to more? And we're talking about a time when parents won't even let their children walk home from school.

Obama is guaranteeing an election massacre by making this a core issue.

and yet the one admitted nc resident here asks if the gov will be reelected after this debacle. I suspect not. the major effect here is making nc look backwards. not a good thing when it is trying to become a science and technology hub.

on a national level, I doubt it makes a significant difference people who support this law were already conservatives and probably extreme right wingers for the most part. this debate won't change them or the more moderate voters. it's just not important enough to anyone's daily life.
