  1. i really dont know why theres such animosity around Duke. He was a long shot to make it here from the start. Didn't make the most of his opportunities but did show some skills.

Josh obviously felt comfortable enough with him to target him so much. I think Isiah Hodgins & Gabriel Davis can fill that bigger bodied wr role this year.

But if Duke can be kept on the PS, I wouldn't be against it.

  2. I think we win of course but my biggest worry about this game is the impact of no crowd noise on the Jets offense. The NFL will be playing a tape of artificial noise in the 75-85 decibel range. Thats a big difference from where we've been recorded before, at around 125 dbs. Its gonna be a lot easier for Darnold & the Jets to communicate out there than in years past. And had this been a normal week 1 game vs the Jets, i'd expect Darnold & their Oline to crack & make a bunch of mistakes.

I still think they make mistakes though & we win this one by at least 10 points.

Anyone claimed on waivers needs to be put on the active roster.  I think this is highly unlikely with Fromm, with no preseason body of work for teams to evaluate. Webb at least has experience, but I still think his pick up is also unlikely.

As far as I understand it, a player claimed on waivers has to be on the active roster for only 3 weeks, before they can be moved back to the PS.

So if another team wants to take a flier on a rookie QB like Fromm, they can simply make room for him for 3 weeks before moving him back to the PS, if thats what they chose to do.

I think a team needing QB help for the future would be more likely to take a chance with Fromm than Webb.

But of course it all depends on what our staff evaluations are on both of them.

I could make the case for Webb, with this bizarre year we might keep 4 and put Fromm on the PS hope he doesnt get poached.  I have to wonder if Webb isnt as good as Barkely.

I think its more likely we keep 3 & put Webb on the PS. Theres probably a greater chance that Fromm gets scooped up on waivers, given his recent draft status than Webb, who has been in this league for years & has been nothing more than a PS guy... more or less.

  5. If anything I'm less invested in this season knowing we're keeping the train whistle. Picturing how it'll sound even louder without fans making noise to blunt its ghastliness makes me shudder at the thought.

But I love our Bills. It'd be ridiculous to me hearing anyone choosing not to watch them because of that whistle, and in the whistles case you'd have more of a reason not to, since its wailing away over & over again thru out the game

As an aside, It'll actually be a brand new game day experience being able to hear all the communication on the field since no fans will be there.

Or perhaps it'll be just like your usual game in Miami :P

Maybe not a bad idea, a pass route is a pass route, he is big enough to block if needed. Dude has good hands.

yeah I'd like the idea if it was simply a matter of swapping him in there, like if you were playing Madden or something.

If they could make it work, sure, but it'd be too difficult for him to learn a brand new position in time to make him a viable option.
If we wanted help now (which i hope we do) it'd be better to just sign a legitimate TE instead, hopefully 1 without a history of injuries like Kroft.

Kroft like Murphy are the 2 signings i didn't like from the start. But you win some & you lose some. If Kroft had stayed healthy we'd be singing a different tune. A GM can't hit on every acquisition. Beane has hit on more than he's missed on... I'm good with that.

How big is Duke? Can he pass block if needed to?

I was only joking. It'd take him too long to learn a whole new position where it wouldn't make sense even if we wanted to. But he's 6'3 225.

If he had a years worth of reps & was used just in passing situations, then maybe it'd be possible in theory.
    But i was just joking

Winters hasn't looked good, by all accounts.

There was an account the other day that he shined in individual reps during practice.

Brian Winters has been quiet so far since being signed following his release from the New York Jets. He was excellent against Vincent Taylor in 1-on-1s, landing a pancake block on one rep and a powerful block on the other. The battle on the offensive line has been competitive throughout camp.

I think he stays as depth just because he's a solid vet. But its gonna be a tough choice regardless. I know we'd prefer to keep players who can play multiple positions instead of a guy who can only play guard. But i think we keep him.

To your point, unless Murphy is setting the world on fire in practice, he should get cut.  The upside of the cap savings outweighs his past performance on the field.  Johnson is the one to keep.

Agree 100%. Especially when you consider its highly unlikely Murphy even stays healthy all season. When you factor in the potential games missed, i think it adds even more weight to your post.

i've also heard/read many times that Murphy is great versus the run. But i've focused on him in many games & while he is better there than vs the pass, he still gets pushed around too much & overpursues. So we're paying an oft-injured underperforming player $8 million a year.

I hated the signing since day 1 & i'll keep hating it until he's gone.

Bleacher Report reported yesterday that they believe his time here is done, so i hope this is 1 time where they're actually right.

So frustrated with WGR.  All I want is the Sal segment so I can hear about today's practice.  Finally he comes on (the segment is actually called 'What Went On At Camp Today' complete with a sponsor).  Sal starts talking about how solid Allen was.  Then Mike steers the conversation off the rails, and suddenly they're talking about the Jets signing Kallen Ballage and what his fantasy impact will be.  After 15 minutes of this, it's time for Sal to go.  Arggghhhh.....we deserve better.

And that my friends is my first post.  I figure it's a better outlet than screaming in my car.

Great 1st post & welcome to the board! I don't listen to WGR that often. But i can't understand why anyone would talk about Kalen Ballage for 2 minutes, yet alone 15 of them. Last year he earned 135 yards on 74 carries for a 1.8 yards per carry average, with three scores, in 12 games. And they're talking about his fantasy impact?

    Thats crazy

  11. I'd be more worried about TB12 or 2015 Cam than 2020 Cam. I do believe he is the week 1 starter tho & i know they'll design the offense around him.

They'll try to have him manage the game & not do too much out there, at least until he's shown he can handle more. He's only 31 years old, but has surely been hobbled & slowed by all the injuries. Can Cam be an effective pocket passer if he can't rely on his legs like he used to? Maybe he can, maybe he's regained some of his old form... idk.

The Pats keep a lid on the inner-workings of their team. Its not like they have a Chris Brown covering them!

Oh for sure. I think Singletary will be a star by year's end. He was great last year but sat behind Gore too much and had the injury. He should be amazing this year.

Definately taking him in fantasy football.

I'd like to take Devin in fantasy but with Moss likely getting the goal line carries, he'll lose those TD's to Moss. It'll be good for the Bills, but bad for Devin owners.

I've been burned by this scenario in years past. Unless you're so optimistic that we'll light up the scoreboard so much that it won't matter, i'd save Devin for later rounds personally.

But this is 1 of those cases where i hope i'm wrong & Devin gets 20 tds

Or they could’ve kept him on their roster for another week

    14 hours ago, YoloinOhio said:

Yes that’s exactly what they did. But they could have waited until 9/5 and he would not have been exposed to waivers before going to IR. That was the blunder.

Yep, as i thought i stated right here:

Yep i think so, as long as its before the cut date from 90 players to 53, this is the route they had to take. If they had waited til after the cutdown, they couldve put him on IR.

Rochesterfan explained it great. Something i discovered only after finding more about it in the link i had previously shared here https://www.si.com/nfl/dolphins/news/miami-dolphins-decision-to-waive-injured-curtis-weaver-and-what-it-means
