  1. did i miss something? is the draft over or did they only have the first round tonight

its April dude and they are one round into the draft and you're acting like the season starts tomorrow

I understand but given their lack of activity since the season ended and the fact that they did not trade up clearly states that it will be more of the same next season. Colt and Jimmy will be taken by Oakland and Cleveland tomorrow leaving us with the usual bottom fishing project.

  2. Would you have rather taken Tebow at 9 or given up a 2, 3, and 4 round pick? Because that's what it would have taken to ensure getting Tebow. They took a chance that he'd be there in the second and it didn't work. The price was too damn high to jump up.

Problem is we now have 3 worthless QBs and 3 runnings backs that we don't need. Sometimes risk is necessary.

  3. Hmmm. I am a big Nix believer but I am disapointed as hell this evening. We got a RB, nobody to protect whatever QB is back there and now it appears that they were going after Tebow but couldn't get it done, losing to a former Bellicheat weasel.

    :unsure::wallbash::censored:

We can never get it done. Losing Tebow is no shock. Bills mgmt thought that they could sit around and pick their man in the second round, like the other 31 teams were stupid. Once again, pull the trigger when you intend to kill or you end up dead.

  4. Buffalo's Running Back Triumvirate mirrors what Dallas has:

C.J. Spiller = Felix Jones - dynamic playmaker that has speed but will get nicked up

Marshawn Lynch = Marion Barber - pile driver that runs through and over people

Fred Jackson = Tashard Choice - all around work horse that is the most consistent

I wish we had the depth that Dallas has at other positions.

Having 3 good Running Backs isn't out of the question though.

Unfortunately that is where the comparison ends.

  5. They were ready to trade back into the first and had their sights on Tebow, but Denver beat them to the punch.

Nonsense! If they were ready they should have pulled the trigger. They deserve the shut out because they are too slow as usual.

  6. I knew Jimmy C wasn't viewed as a potential great player by many teams. Super happy Buff took Spiller and not Clausen. That guy is freakin electric! Bills are in a great position to draft probably the smartest QB in the draft, McCoy. If we get him, we are putting the pieces together for a juggernaut offense. Mark my words.

Oakland and Cleveland will take Jimmy and Colt. Bills will be sucking wind at QB.

  7. In a couple of the draft magazines I have been looking through, there is 1 player who stands out the most to me, at one of the Bills' positional needs heading into the draft.

The thing I like about this guy is that he could potentially fill 1-4 different needs.

    Armanti Edwards - QB/WR/RB/KR/PR - Appalachian State

In Pro Football Weekly's 2010 NFL Draft Magazine, Edwards is the 4th rated passer. It says he has the potential to be the next Michael Vick, without the baggage. He could sit back for 1-3 years and learn. However, he would be able to produce as a specialist/role player, in the Wildcat or Pistol formation, until he is ready to takeover a team.

PRO DAY RESULTS: Last year it was West Virginia QB Pat White who was all the rage leading up to the draft due to his versatile skills and ability to run the Wildcat formation. This year, it's Appalachian State QB Armanti Edwards who brings similar talents to the table. Edwards, who led the Mountaineers to a national title in his freshman year, truly burst onto the national scene as a sophomore in 2007 when he led Appalachian State to a historic upset of host Michigan. He has continued to develop since then, and now finds himself a potential mid-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. He's going to be one of those guys that will give defensive coordinators gray hairs trying to defend him, and he showed why with an exceptional workout at Appalachian State's pro day on March 16. Ravens receivers coach Jim Hostler and Eagles QB coach James Urban were on hand to watch Edwards and five other players work out indoors on FieldTurf. Edwards (5-foot-11, 192 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.44 and 4.41 seconds, had a 34 1/2-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot, 3-inch broad jump, a 4.19-second short shuttle, a 6.74-second three-cone drill and did 13 bench press repetitions at 225 pounds. He also did position drills as both a quarterback and receiver. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

Too late for trial and error. The division is loading up with talent. We need to add quality players or we will stay in the basement for the next 10 years.

  8. http://blogs.buffalonews.com/billboard/201...nt-on-2010.html

"I think first and foremost I needed to stay healthy. I think I took some hits I probably should have tried to avoid. There were some games that didn’t go the way we needed to. The ball didn’t bounce our way. There were plays left out on the field. It’s tough. Football’s a team sport. Obviously the quarterback’s the one they’re going to look at to put the blame on. Obviously I was that person that took a lot of the blame last year and rightfully so. I can definitely take that. Looking back on it injuries were something I needed to change and hopefully I can physically maintain myself next year."

Yup.. Injuries were all he needed to change last year.....

    Spoken like a true loser.

  9. I know I know, just me...but hear me out first...

Okay, first...he's only started 32 games and is one of the most sacked QB's in the league because of our horrible O-Line...going first on statistics...has he been that bad?...

Trent Edwards: First 32 starts....61 comp %...........5498 yards....24 tds/25 ints.......3 percent of his passes are picked

Joe Montana: First 32 starts.....64 comp %............5456 yards...35 tds/22 ints.......3 percent of his passes were picked

Tom Brady: First 32 starts......63 comp %............6,613 yards.....46 tds/26 ints....4 percent of his passes were picked

(and yes Brady threw LESSSSS than Trent has in his first 32 starts making his int percentage a bit higher)

Steve Young: First 32 starts.....53 comp %.........4,467 yards.......24/24.......3 percent of his passes were picked

Phillip Rivers: First 32 starts.......58 comp %.......5,111 yards......33/18.......2 percent of his passes were picked

Drew Brees: First 32 starts........58 comp %.......5,612 yards......28/31.......5 percent of his passes were picked

Okay so they are pretty comparable numbers to some GREAT QB's...now I'm not suggesting that Trent is ANY OF THOSE...but what I'm suggesting is that we still haven't seen enough evidence to say he isn't either...

Outside of statistics...he has a fluid motion and is still young in the game....he has a decent arm and when given time can do some damage...his two concusions have him gun shy back there, but who can blame him?...now enter Chan's offense...run first presumably because we cannot draft a stud and there are none available unless we pry D Mac from philly...so a run first ball club will rarely throw it around to millions of different wide outs...one deep threat and TE's and Backs out of the backfield....that's Trent's staple isn't it?...he never got on the same page with T.O....and since he's gone....I don't think Trent will be pressured to throw it more than twenty times a game except on rare occasions...

He is the ultimate efficient QB...to a fault sometimes...but in a run first defensive team...isn't that what you want?...I think it would be a mistake to draft a QB high in THIS draft, and I think with a Run stuffing DT and a couple OT's...you have a whole new ball game where Trent is concerned...he's intelligent and just needs to get over being gun shy...which I think he can do...now, again...I am not saying he's pro bowl material, but I think he is capable...and I think that we do not have enough evidence to criticize him yet...not when his numbers are comparable...his win loss is comparable as well to some of them...and I think he can be much more effective with a better O-Line

Forget it. On the intangibles such as nerve and making mental adjustment under pressure, his is a failure. Some things can't be taught.

  10. After reading countless number of posts on how many holes this team has and that they will be lucky to win 6 games in 2010, I want to make the following comment:

Over the Dick Jauron era, we had consistently fielded playoff caliber teams. There were holes in the lineup every year, but the talent was pretty much mostly there. Question marks did exist at QB and the lines, but if it wasn't for a few plays here and there, we could have easily been 10-6 in any of the last 4 seasons. A lot of people blame injuries, but every team suffers injuries (we did suffer more, but I don't like that excuse).

This year our team is arguably weaker than last (no more TO, Butler retired, Schobel will be gone, we are running a 3-4 with players who fit a 4-3, etc.). However, one crucial difference has occurred - DJ is no longer here. On top of that many of the "old regime" is also gone. There was a notable difference in the team's performance under Perry Fewell last year (yes they did only go 3-4). Had he coached the whole year, I would have expected a better season than 6-10.

But now, we have something new: a totally NEW regime. Since Nix has been in charge, the team seems to be operating with "a purpose". The attitude has changed. I am not sure if Gailey will be able to emanate it as well as Nix, but I feel these guys have come in with something to prove.

I still think we have a lot of holes and need a franchise QB (I keep telling myself - give up on Trent, but part of me feels in a new scheme, he has the talent), but I think if the new regime comes out with something to prove early, the team will be able to build off their successes. The key is we need to have the "attitude" to win the close games. We were 2-6 in games decided by 7 points or less last season. We flip that upside down and we go 10-6. We don't have a Super Bowl team yet, but I think the cards are there for a playoff birth.

    The schedule is more difficult.

  11. Not suprisingly espn/espnradio is not really reporting this story or trying to downplay it.

If he was black, ESPN/ESPN Radio, along with Nancy Grace and others, would have him tried and convicted by now.

Two-Time Super Bowl winner accused of rape for the 2nd time!!!

WTF!! If he was black - espn and other networks, would break into coverage of whatever is being showing on all their networks - and talk about nothing but this for the next year.

But he is white so what is the issue?

  12. In Mr. King's MMQB column he stated if Ben Roethlisberger is at fault he needs to grow up. This was of course on page four of his column. A two time SB winning QB is accused twice of sexual assault and he "needs to grow up". There is no other way to describe how the media is treating this story other than pure racism. I am white and I can see it. Marshawn Lynch is a "thug" because he had a gun is his car. How many Bubba's down South have a frickin gun rack in their truck. San Diego trades away Cromartie because he has 7 kids - all by consensual sex. Larry Johnson makes some anti-gay slurs and he is vilified/suspended. All black, all non-crimes or minor at worst. If you are white and a QB apparently 20 year old girls are pieces of meat. Peter King has a daughter for Christ sake. I loathe Michael Vick but as others have said before he would have been better off commiting rape than killing a dog. Unless of course it was a white girl. In which case in Atlanta he would have been lynched.

So why dont you call Jessie Jackson and start a March!

  13. First time post here. I personnally liked TE as our quarterback. Better then Fitzpatrick. Better then Losman. Better then anyone we can get in a draft this year. Our problem is just keeping him upright to make the throw. His accuracy is good and when he did have time to throw over the middle and down field he wasn't affraid. For instance during the Redskins game two years ago at the end of the game when he needed to make a throw downfield and had time he was money. Another example was the Jacksonville game when he had another fourth quarter game winning drive at the end. He is a good quarter back to me just not coached properly and no line. He was loved in 08 until the Cardnials game where he had his first concussion. That to me is when he got scared. Then he went through the hole training camp last year to have his coordinator dumped right before the season and had a new OC. If he had any consistant coaching he would be a stud now. For that matter I think Losman would have panned out to if it wasn't for sorry coaching. With Loseman they tried to make him a pocket quarterback. To me he should have used his legs more. But I still like Edwards better. We really need to concentrate on our lines Offensive and Defensive this year. Go Bills!!

Trent is a proven loser. Enough said.

  14. Al Davis is all about speedy wide outs... so why not start a QB with a cannon arm not named JaMarcus Russel?

"It will take a couple of weeks to at least learn," Fassel said. "I think he will do well there, though. I know [Raiders owner] Al Davis has always liked him (JP)."

JaMarcus Russel could be penciled in as the backup

    http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/features/ru...atures%2frumors

J.P. Losman addition may signal the end for Russell

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/309525-...end-for-russell

    :P

He is finished, who really cares?

  15. I was a huge Losman supporter due to his arm, his scrambling ability and his toughness (side note: Losman could have ran for 500 yards a season if Jauron knew how to use him. Every time he took off, he got ten yards). I held out hope longer than just about anyone I knew until I finally pulled the plug on him. I remember the game distinctly: at Jacksonville toward the end of the 2007 season. I said, that's it, this is simply not happening, this guy sucks. As much as I doubt Edwards' ability to be the guy in Buffalo, I've still never had that defining moment where I ruled him out for good. Agree? Disagree?

Its over, move on. Sometimes in life you never really find out all of the answers but you reach a point where it no longer matters.

  16. He showed more promise than any prospect (or suspect) we've had in years, now it feels like going out on a limb to say he should get a shot at the job. I think the odds are way in favor of him being our opening day starter over anyone else in the poll.

He is done. He had an average arm at best and could not gain the respect of his team mates. The new coaching staff was brought in to turn the franchise around and it can't be done by going back to the old losing ways or anyone that played a key roll in the losing process.

  17. I would like to state upfront what the policy is here, and I'm embarrassed that it has to be spelled out for some of you.

We have some special guests here that provide their time, knowledge and insight to us and for that we are grateful. They do this for free. We welcome their participation and we will do what we need to do in order to facilitate that.

Feel free to engage these individuals with your questions and your comments in a reasoned, tactful manner. You don't have to like what they report. You don't have to agree with what they report. But I can assure you that from this point forward your engagement with them on THIS forum will be respectful.

If you can't phrase your comment or objection as if these individuals were sitting across the dinner table from you - then just keep it to yourself. Plain and simple. Just don't write it.

If you lack restraint - we will quickly provide that for you. We wish you luck in your future endeavors. This goes for old-timers and newbies alike.

For those of you wanting to argue this - don't bother. I will not side with your lack of civility, I will not side with ignorant ramblings over professionalism.

Let me reiterate, tactful criticism and skepticism are welcomed. Being a rude jackass is not.

How bout jail time for violators?

  18. I was driving around the Buffalo area a lot today, which gave me the chance to listen to the Shred and Reagan show. While the ADD factor of that show was annoying (random jumps to different topics, songs thrown in for no good reason, etc.), I figured it was worth putting up with that junk to get more information about the Bills' new head coach.

    What I learned:

    • People from Kansas City spoke favorably about the Gailey hire. Apparently the reason he was fired from his OC position was because KC's current head coach wanted to install an Arizona-style offense in KC, even though he didn't have a Kurt Warner or a Larry Fitzgerald. Gailey wanted to adapt the offense to the talent he actually had.
    • Jerry Jones apparently called his decision to fire Gailey as the Cowboys' head coach one of the worst business decisions he'd ever made.
    • As an OC, Gailey has shown a knack for turning lemons into lemonade. He's had success with Kordell Stewart, Thigpen, Fielder--guys who became nonentities after their time with Gailey.
    • Had Bill Cowher been hired, he would have selected Chan Gailey as his offensive coordinator.
    • Vic Carucci was interviewed. He felt certain the Bills would switch to a 3-4 defense under Gailey. He said that someone high up in the Bills' organization--it was either Nix or Wilson--had concluded that a 3-4 defense was a better way to go than a 4-3. Carucci seemed to agree with that proposition, and cited several examples of 3-4 defenses that were superior/better than their 4-3 counterparts.

I'm not 100% convinced this hire will work out, but at least there's significant potential for it to.

Good post and well said. Give Chan some time and a chance to succeed. He brings a certain energy and positive mindset that we have been lacking for many years.

  19. ESPN- Seattle and Buffalo choose two former College coaches to lead their teams. However, the names Pete Carroll and Chan Galey just don't sound the same (add laughter).

Headline News- A bill board doesn't buy what it used to. The Bills fans pulled thier resources to try to get Cowher, but landed Chan Galey. But have been a clearence advertisement.

NFL network- laughing at Nix for saying there were 15 calls from coaches who wanted to be in Buffalo, but somehow they actually answered when Chan called LOL.

Charlotte, NC radio- fans calling in just mocking this decision blaming it on the cold weather and the snow.

Charlotte Sports TV news- In other news, the Bills lost out on Cowher and had to settle for Chan. What else do you expect from a team that has to leave the country to find fans. *laughing "Maybe Canadians will think Galey is Cowher."

These are just a few reports I have seen. Other TV clips have been of Nix just sounding foolish. When Nix made his little comment about Buffalo not being Oakland, the newscaster said, "Your right Buddy. People actually want to live and work in Oakland, even if it is for Al."

I'm known as a Bills fan. My office is full of Buffalo Bills stuff. I'm embarassed to evern be associated with this mess. What a slap in the face.

What I don't understand is that some of you foolish fans will be more upset at this post, than what happend today @ One Bills Drive.

For those Spelling and Grammer Nazi's on TBD, I have made several spelling and gramatical mistkes in this post. Can you find them?

My point: True Bills fans shouls be embarased and insulted by what has taken place this year @ One Bills Drive.

Maybe its not the best hire but we could have done alot worse. At least we have a coach who will develop QBs and the OL. We will finally be able to put points on the board which beats DJ trying to win games 6-3 but failing all of the time. Give Chan some time and he will succeed. That is the current state of the team.
