  1. I'll start this off by saying i'm a huge fitz fan. I couldn't wait for the bills to give him a contract, thinking we finally had some stability at qb. That being said, he's been horrible the past 3 weeks. Not 100% his fault, but he can take a lot of the blame. Based on the last 3 games, would there ever be a situation where Thigpen is thrown into the game after a few more horrific performances by fitz? I don't mean as a permanent starter, but the same way a starting goalie would be pulled after giving up 5 goals in the first period to pump some life into the team. Or do we stick with fitz no matter what and let him break out of this slump on his own?

Only if he is carried off the field.

  2. Everyone's thoughts on CJ is "If he doesn't step it up now then he's out." All he gets is negative energy. This guy is in his second year and hasn't gotten the ball to show anything. I've definitely noticed a difference in CJ this year as to last year(when he has the ball). I feel that he knows he's not hitting a home run everytime up. He definitely needs some more development but we haven't seen enough to judge. I think the question should be,"What if he succeeds?" What do we do in the offseason if CJ actually holds it down these last 6 weeks. What if he finds the same flow that Freddy was running with. I like CJ and I like Freddy, but CJ is young and now is his first real opportunity. I have faith in CJ!!!!!!!

    If he succeeds, cut him.

  3. 21 carries for 115 yards and a TD this year. Why is it that everyone wants to call him a bust before he's even had an opportunity? Last year he was tentative and did NOT look good. From the limited amount we've seen this year, I'm definitely willing to hope he continues averaging over 5 yards a carry.

Because he is a bust. If he was any good he would have been given more carries to prove that he could move the ball. Bottom line is that he can't!

  4. I don't understand the emotions that people have about Spiller. He rarely gets on the field, and he is never given a chance to stay in the game long enough to get into any sort of rhythm. I was not a fan of the pick, and I still am not, but I hesitate to call him a bust since he hardly ever plays. Is there something that Chan knows that explains why he doesn't let Spiller play? Fumbles? Bad blocking? Doesn't learn the plays? To easy to tackle? If the Bills trade him, I bet he will turn out to be a good player for whoever gets him. He is expensive and fast. Fred is far superior between the tackles, but why not give Spiller a few sets of downs to see what he can do and give Fred a rest? At this point, maybe it's time for a few experiments to see what some of these other players can do.

Spiller is a bust! Its time to admit it and move on. The reason that he does not get on the field is because he can't do anything when he is on the filed.

  5. The Bills have improved and have a good nucleus to buid on; they are not yet a playoff contender.

    - The Defense is still poor and a major disappointment; they cannot stop the run nor get pressure on the opposing QB

    - Fitz is a great stop gap solution but not the franchise QB needed to go all the way.

    - Fred Jacklson is the Buffalo Bill of the decade and current heart and soul of the team, howver, he is thirty plus years.

    - CJ Spiller has yet to prove he is worthy of being a first round pick.

    - Still need a deep threat.

I we finish above .500 or sneak into the playoffs it will considered success - absolutely - but I see the same results as the Jets game.

You currently have a total of 20 posts which is at least 1 too many!

  6. A lot of fans are wondering what the Bills should do against Dallas. Well here's what I think they should do.

I think the Bills have gone away from what was making them so successful earlier in the season. That was having Fitzpatrick and the receivers as the focal point of their attack. The more Jackson was having success running the football, the more the Bills have been going into a shell and turning the once confident Fitzpatrick into a "game manager" type QB. This is the problem. He isn't a "game manager", he's a legitimate passing QB.

The Bills should feature Fitzpatrick throwing to Johnson, Nelson, Spiller (in the slot) and Jackson on screens. When Jackson isn't on a screen pass, he should be chipping on Ware to give Fitzpatrick plenty of time to throw it to the receivers. They should be going no huddle and give Fitzpatrick plenty of options to audible out of bad play calls.

The Bills should try to overwhelm the Cowboys with their offense, then when they're up by a few touchdowns, they can then let Jackson run with the football and start taking time off the clock.

We need to get Fitzpatrick back to what he was or this season is over. I know the football purists think I'm wrong, but if Jackson is the focal point we lose.

Well Said! If we continue to play Jackson ball, what do we do if he gets hurt? Play CJ ball? Give it to Fitz and spread out the WRs. Lets win 30-24 instead of losing 30-14 trying to run the ball. Use Fitz to do what he does best.

  7. so the wife's in vegas for a conference and i asked her to place a bet for the Bills to win the AFC (i always bet this when i get the chance, thinking any winnings might go towards a sb ticket). 18:1. asked her to get one for my best friend who is a lions fan: 13:1 to win NFC. sounds about right to me for both. comments, opinions? as to how much i bet, lets just say that i've been very happy with the bills this year but remain cautiously optimistic..ie, not much was bet but i can dream.

100 to 1 that you don't know what the hell you are talking about.

  8. Hate to say it, but I think both the Bills and Sabres may not make the playoffs. After good starts both teams appear to be reeling.

Sabres: Any team that loses back to back games to Tampa Bay does not warrant a playoff appearance. That is absolutely unacceptable. Couple that with the pathetic performance against Carolina at home and I see no playoffs. This team has not scored more than 4 goals in a game since game two. They have yet to win at home. They look way over rated. All that money given away and I see a team that has not improved from last year.

Bills: With Merriman gone, Williams perhaps done for the year and Bell struggling with a shoulder problem coupled with a defense that can't sack the quarterback, stop the run or stop the pass how does this team make the playoffs? I for one do not give Fitzpatrick a new contract yet. Let him play out the season. I am still not convinced he can lead this team to the playoffs let alone a super bowl. His interceptions have led to two losses already. The last time we gave somebody a new contract mid season after a good start (Jauron) was an epic failure the rest of the year and beyond. Great job signing Merriman to a two year contract. What a waste. We will pay him nearly 10 million dollars for one sack and nine tackles. That's nearly as bad as Maybin.

Don't get me wrong, I hope I'm wrong and just sour and pissed off about Buffalo sports performing pathetically the last two weeks. But things don't look good. If the Bills lose this week, they are done and will not make the playoffs.

Nice call! What is the weather going to be like on December 1st? Oh, you don't know? Thought you can predict the future!

  9. Most here seem to think Chan is the man. I am often left wondering about his playcalling at what usually seems to be critical points in the game.

Maybe Chan&Buddy are the answer, but ,frankly, I'm not sure they would have the jobs they within any other NFL team.

First in afce, was nice while it lasted!

Its you. The play calling was fine and going for the kill late in the game is just what this team needs. The last few weeks we let teams back into the game. We need to learn how to put a team away when you have them down. Chan was trying to do just that.

  10. Started watching Ryan Tannehill last year when I was checking out Von Miller(who was underwhelming, thanks Denver) and thought he was great QB especially since he converted from WR midseason and was looking forward to watching him this year. I've seen 4 of his games so far and he is even Better and if it wasn't for Texas A&M's horrible defense they would be undefeated. Today he lit it up for 6 TDs against the evenly ranked Baylor who has the highly touted Heisman Trophy candidate RG3 and won going away 55 - 28. He has 13 TDs, 6 ints, passer rating of 174.5, 67.4 completion % and 1742 yds for the season. What I really like about him is his live arm and decision making along with movement in the pocket and great running ability. On top of this he runs a pro-style offense with plenty of multi-WR sets ran by Mike Sherman who should have been our coach instead of Jauron, but I digress. He has already graduated with a degree in biology and plans on being a doctor when his career is is done so he is smart and high character, perfect traits for Chan to mold into our next QB of the future. As far as I'm concerned he is the second best QB in the upcoming draft behind luck and is way better than Matt Barkely and Landry Jones who are rated ahead of him. He should be available in the late first round where we will be picking and we can have our own Favre/Rogers situation.

Get a life. We have our QB for the next 7 years. By the time Fitz is done, we will need an entire new team. Stop wasting our time with junk.

  11. A lot more fun to watch, however Gailey talks about being balanced, but doesn't do it. 146 pass attempts vs. 104 run attempts.

Great when the passing game is working, which it had until last week, however you are going to need to run the ball at some

point (see 4th quarter last game), and if you can't do it or won't do it, you won't win when it counts.

The pass game is not always going to work: great D line or 2ndary, QB or receivers just off, bad weather, take your pick.

Bills needed to run the ball in 4th quarter last week, IMO, and could not or would not do it.

P.S. Why did the Bills draft Spiller anyhow? 14 carries in 4 games? What's the point taking the guy 7th overall?

    Flame away.

The CJ draft was a bust. As a Bills fan, you should know that he does not find or hit the holes and is too small to run inside. It was a mistake drafting him at all. We have only 1 solid running back. Do you want Fred to carry 30 times per game. Besides, we are usually coming for down big and we have to throw the ball to get back into the game.

  12. Here's why.....

    1) He hasn't been exposed too much. We can "sneak" him on opposing defenses. The kid is GOOD!!!

    2) I still think that Fitz's finger affected his ability to throw last week. In fact, I am all but sure. He doesn't have a Phillip Rivers gun, but he throws harder than he did against the Bengals. Who knows how he will be on Sunday?

    3) With Bell out, we may need to run a few less conventional plays to take pressure off of the rookie LT.

The good news is that I actually have faith in Gailey to implement a successful offensive plan.

The better news is that I think that we can win this football game. It sucks that the Eagles season would seem to hinge upon a win but ya know what? Screw em'.

    GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is starting to remind me of CJ.

  13. Maybe its just me, but one thing I was hoping to look forward to this year was not hearing about draft predictions halfway through the season... guess not. Guys we are entering week 4, we are 3-0 and you guys are talking about next years draft! live in the moment a little! in my opinion, if your more excited about the upcoming draft than you are about the rest of the season, you are either a pessimist who thinks we are going to lose out the rest of the season, or your just not a football fan.

Me for one, I'm excited about our current team, and the potential we have for this season. The game that we clinches us NOT making the playoffs is the time to start talking about the draft. Not week 4!!

Well said. Some people aren't happy unless they are miserable!

  14. As Bills Nation bathes in the jubilation of ending the 8 year old losing streak to the Patriots, an intriguing statistic becomes relevant to Buffalo. The stat: NFL teams have a 76% to be playoff bound after going 3-0 (with significant increases with each win thereafter). With this in mind, we are both statistically in an excellent position to make the playoffs and gravely reminded that in 2008, we were a part of the 24%. Since 2008 is far too recent for any us to forget, the natural question that refuses to go away for most (non-bandwagon) fans is, what’s the difference between this 3-0 2011 team compared to our 4-0 and 5-1 2008 squad?

    The coach!

  15. He admitted he didn't get a play called in time for the Bowns D and that allowed A.J. Green to score the winning touchdown. It was on PFT. Ironically as I was typing this I realized I forgot to shut the hose off and slightly flooded my garage but atleast I didn't cost the Bills a win.

That is nothing new. DJ never called anything right when he was here.

  16. Given all of the optimism and promising start to the season (let's hope the bad lows are in our rear view) - what was your lowest moment of your history as a Bills fan? I'm 34 years old, grew up a Bills fan in southern Missouri of all places. I was 12 years old, volunteering at a food pantry during the summers, and I had a Jim Kelly/Thurman Thomas shirt I used to wear to that job all the time. I always talked about Bills news and happening with my boss (the director of the place). He knew I was a fan, and oddly enough, he was a displaced western New Yorker and his younger brother worked as a scout for the Bills. My boss calls his brother, asks him if he can get the Bills to do something nice for me - and I end up getting a huge package in the mail with an autographed picture of Jim Kelly - and a bunch of Bills stuff in 1991.

Of course, when I was 13, 14, 15, and 16 years old - the Bills lost superbowls. Every single one of them stung like hell. But...I have to say - in 1997 I went to my first Bills game ever. I had moved to Boston right out of high school - and was at the Bills/Pats game in the fall of 1997. The game was a home game in Foxboro for the Pats, and first place in the division was on the line. Jim Kelly had retired, Thurman was still on the team - and there I was, decked out in Bills gear - and Todd Collins gets injured, the Bills get blown out (with Billy Joe Hobert who later admitted he didn't know the playbook) and it was an ugly year. The end of that game was the lowest point for me as a fan (yes, even lower than the Gregg Willams era)

For some reason, being there, seeing it live, getting heckled, etc...sucked worse than the home run throwback in January of 2000.

Not to be a Debbie downer, but out of curiosity - what was your lowest point?

    Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings.

  17. For the past few years, especially under Dickie J, in the rare occasion the Bills got out to a double digit lead, they would take their collective foot off the gas and go into protect-the-lead mode. They'd play their base cover 2 defense and rush four every play. On offense, it was the typical run-run-incompletion-punt sequence. Inevitably, the other team would get back into it, the Bills couldn't get going again, and they'd lose a close one.

Yesterday at KC, the Bills did something I have been waiting years to see... they showed a killer instinct. When they had the chefs down, they didn't let up and try to protect the lead... they put their collective foot on the chefs collective throat and applied steadily increasing pressure until they choked them out.

That is what good, winning teams do.

They finally got it done without having to hold on to dear life at the end only to lose a close one. Good point!
