  1. that white players are better Quarterbacks in the NFL?

According to Wiki Answers there are 3,867 white athletes vs 11,978 black athletes in the NFL. It's obvious that it's a difficult thing for a white player to compete with black players in the NFL. And it's not just at skill positions. It appears that they only excel at QB play, Kicking, and Punting. No one knows why that is and you could debate that topic all day long. Could it be that white athletes gravitate towards the QB position based on they might enjoy the studying part of the position more than the black athlete? And the white athlete recognizes that as an edge or a way to compete with their more athletic black counterparts. Is that a racist thing to say? I don't think so.

Why can't we just talk about the "elephant in the room"? If anyone saw Cam Newton in his under armour at the combine, and you don't think he's the most physically gifted QB in the draft you're crazy. But the questions about him are centered around does he have the mind of an NFL QB. Can he lead a group of Men. Is he as fierce in the film room as he is in the weight room. Does he ENJOY that part of the position?

I honestly am not posting this to incite hateful debate, but honest debate.

Its not racist just plain stupid!

  2. Take all of Spiller's rookie year and compare it with the handful of games that Starks has played for Green Bay. I would say he has a point. It was a terrible pick. The best running back on this team was an un-drafted guy. Why waste a top ten pick on a running back? Especially when that running back was not touted as an all around running back coming out of college.

CJ will be realized as a bust next year. He has speed but that alone is not enough. He does not run north-south and hit the holes fast enough. He is too small and lacks the power of a RB along with no skill at pass blocking. A total bust.

  3. They did do the right thing ... in a ass backwards sort of way.

Lynch wanted out in large part, I believe, because of the Spiller draft. He did not want a 3 way split of the touches.

Given the fact that the Bills drafted Spiller (a mistake in my opinion, but that's another matter) the Bills did the right thing in getting rid of Lynch instead of Jackson. Unfortunately every GM in the league knew the Bills pretty much had to dump 1 running back so it became a buyers market. But C'est la vie.

We have CJ the bust and had to watch our 2 former running backs in the playoffs.

  4. All season, we have heard how good spiller is and keeps getting better from Gailey. Then, in his post season press conference, he mentions how he needs to improve his pass blocking. Is it possible that spiller would be the number one if he could pass block?

Is he unwilling or unable to pick it up?

CJ will turn out to be recognized as bust next season. Too small to go up the middle and can't pass block.

  5. I only caught the second half of the game last night but I was not too impressed with Mallet. I had liked him before and really wanted him after watching the Arkansas/Alabama game early in the season. I do not think we will go this route.

In watching the game though, I was very impressed with Arkansas TE DJ Williams. He has very good hands and ran nice routes. His blocking has improved. I have seen rumors that the Bills might go TE early in the draft. If we do, I am betting this is the guy they are targeting.

I agree that we should not draft him not because he is not impressive but because we have Fitz. To say that he was not impressive means that either you were sleeping or not paying attention to the game. Mallett has a great arm, size and smarts.

  6. How do you envision CJ Spiller being used next season?

Do you think he will be the starting running back, handling most of the workload, or do you think Jackson will once again be the featured back?

I wonder if Spiller will try to add ten pounds to his frame, or continue at his current playing weight. I would like to see him get some reps as a slot receiver in specialized situations.

It just seems hard to imagine him winning the starting job next season. It feels like the Bills almost have to make him the starter at some point and give him the carries, given the extraordinarily high price we paid to get him - whether he earns it or not. I don't want him to end up as the next Maybin.

He is a potential bust. He is too small to get it done as a RB and an overpaid special teams guy.

I was never a big fan. CJ has minimum value and we need to get a big fast back who can run the ball 20+ times per game. He is not that guy and should be traded. He is a bonus that we can't afford.

  8. Fitz is a likeable guy, a feel good story, and he's a "buffalo kind-a guy". but i dont think he is the long term answer as a franchise QB.

in my ideal world... we draft luck, let him sit a year. play fitz next year as starter while Luck prepares and learns, then in 2012 have an open competition and let Luck (hopefully) win the QB job then allow fitz to be the backup. sounds like a decent plan to me if we end up with the #1 overall pick

You live in an ivory tower eating ice cream and candy all day, Come into the real world and understand that your dream of a franchise QB is pure fiction a creation of your own feeble small mind!

  9. The Bills have been in a re build mode since when? TOO DAMN LONG !!!!

So, why dont we build around Fitz as out #1 QB ? Why would we want a new QB out of the draft? If they did who would they bench? the team would be set much further back with a draft QB, which there is never a quarentee that he would be able to step up into the NFL. The draft focus should be set around getting the players that they could build upon on defense and offense.

Nice post. I agree they should build around Fitz and use the draft which will make our lines bigger, faster and stronger.

  10. Here are the NFL's top 37 quarterbacks by TD'S. I keep hearing that Fitz is no franchise QB, but aside from the ones I've highlighted below, who else is? I count 9 quarterbacks who have proven, definitely, that they can carry the load for their team for at least the next three years. 9 out of 37. If so few of the teams in the NFL are competitive without one, why are people SO dead set on a QB with our top 3 pick next year when we clearly have bigger shoes to fill and more than serviceable talent at the position already?

Well said. I couldn't agree more.

  11. The Billies are going to win a game here - probably next week. Carolina is going to lose out. Bills probably won't have the first pick....Bulldog is going to have to be put in a padded room.

    I like Mallett too.

Fitz is the best option. We cant afford to waste another top pick on a QB we dont need. Use it to fix our lines.

  12. Thanks for the link. After reading the article it's clear that Brandon is speaking strictly of the fan interest in Toronto. And I think he's right; you CAN'T quantify how much being in playoff contention would have meant to the kind of Toronto fan that attends the Bills games up there.

    GO BILLS!!!

After reading the article it is obvious that Brandon does not know what the hell he is talking about. He fails to make a point which is decernable in the sea of BS that he is failing to articulate.

  13. I appreciate the more cerebral comments that Fitzpatrick makes in these press conferences. He'll usually make a few technical comments here and there to let us know what went wrong on certain plays or with the general gameplan, which reassures fans like me that these guys are at least capable of making good use of Monday's film review sessions in order to learn from mistakes and get better. The results on offense so far support my theory. As a unit, they've made steady progress since benching/cutting Trent and did a great job with yesterday's second half adjustments.

Wish I could say the same for the defensive crew. Every week, it's "guys are just making too many mistakes" and "we've got to play better" with no substantial week-to-week improvement. This is football, not !@#$ing rocket surgery. You're being paid millions to learn the 3-4 / 4-3 hybrid assignments. So !@#$ing learn them already!

Problem is we have little talent on D so it is hard to make the adjustments that will turn a game around.

  14. It's interesting how all of a sudden "Lee Evans is a premier receiver", as the article mentions. All it takes is for a QB to trust him and throw the ball his way and he's no longer a waste of money and trade fodder. Maybe he's not "worth" the exorbitant salary, but when he's involved in the offense he makes plays. Another thing to credit Chan for, as far as I'm concerned.

Absolutely correct. Chan deserves much of the credit for turning around our O and for developing the players especially Fitz. He has done a great job. It was just last season when Fitz was not doing so well under the old management. If we can draft some decent D palyers, we can have a good team next year.

  15. Okay, FIRST let me say that I was a supporter of Trent Edwards when he first came along here and Buffalo and probably defended him way longer than I should have.

ALSO I have been known to say that Fitz doesn't have the same upside as a guy like Brohm does.

Now that we have that out of the way.

I was downright blown away with Fitzy yesterday. I don't know when the last time I saw someone command our offense the way he did. I admire his gunslinger attitude and his willingness to do whatever it takes to win.

Did he win? No, and he also threw some very bad pics. However if you look at it the other way, that pass to Lee Evans was a VERY ill advised throw. I think Chan is starting to like the guy a lot.

I guess my question is, if he can continue to perform like this (as well as the receivers) what shot do you give Fitzpatrick of convincing Chan he is the guy of the future? All I can say is I will never have to worry about calling him Captain Checkdown.

Based upon his comments in the post game, I think Chan is sold.

  16. Your not going to hear any Ryan Fitzpatrick bashing from me. We got a little more then expected in leaderhip and the guy gave it all. He is my choice for 2nd String and that is saying alot. He belongs here.

We have got to get an extented look at Brian Brohm and now is the time, I would also like to take a short look and Levi Brown.

Its the evaluation process before we invest in a drafted quarterback.....

Fitz has done a good job and deserves to be recognized for it. If Ralph wants to draft a QB, we have to look at BB and Brown. If we don't then why did we sign BB and draft Brown? It would be a very poor mgmt decision if we do not give them every chance to be the QB of the future.
