I hope each of you are not stuck on a grill all day.  For us, we are going bowling today. We will wish a happy belated birthday to my son, Ryan, and stepson, Lucas.

Whats better than bowling in the A/C, in FL in June.

    Anyway, enjoy the day guys.

    Dan.

Thank you, Machine Gun, a.k.a. Dan. We're going for a hike today. No matter what you do, the main thing for all is time together.

There are a lot of dads (and their sons and daughters) in the TBD family. I trust that you all have a great day.

Undoubtedly we force a lot of turnovers. We've been top 10 in forced turnovers every year of McD's tenure and top 5 every season since 2020.

Our Def excels at exploiting mistakes typically made by bad QBs, or if we're already up big the other team feels the need to force the issue. If we're in a close game and/or playing a good QB the turnovers really dry up.

When's the last time McD's defense dominated a good offense? Has that ever happened? Why can't our DEF put together a playoff game against KC like PHI did this year, TB in 2020, or CIN in 2021 (2nd half)?

Going off on a tangent I wanted to bring up Dan Campbell. In the DET HOU game last year Goff threw 3 INTs by halftime and DET was trailing 23-7. Campbell had a quick little interview at the start of the 3rd Q and told the reporter "The defense needs to go out there and force some turnovers"

His DEF went out in the 2nd half and forced 2 turnovers, 4 punts, and a missed FG. DET won the game 26-23 despite Goff's 5 turnovers.

Compare and contrast that to McD in the 2023 Jets season opener.

Okay, I reread this twice. And I have just one question:

    WHAT ?????

Yeah, OP is not correct. I live in Utah and watched Cole at U of U and he is an extremely willing, aggressive, and downhill tackler. Not an ounce of hesitation in the guy.

Well, there you go. Close the thread.

  4. Wondering if any Bills deserve consideration? No obvious people come to mind.

I was surprised to see Baker Mayfield on the list. He is that old, and two, he is ahead of Matt Stafford. I'm not sure I agree with the ladder.

And Diggs, I guess he has only had one bad season. But I'm not convinced he recovers and is any better this year.

Following this team for over 50 years, I can say without hesitation that no Bills fan is spoiled.

This is why, having lived through the entire Bills' history, I bask in their recent success. As a franchise, we have had two great eras: the early 1990s and the past five years.

Are we currently spoiled, maybe? But I enjoy every moment of it.

And if the Bills ever do win it all, I think, like many old-timers, we'll go to the party of the century in Buffalo and then die some time later that week, having finally accomplished the last big thing on our bucket list.

    Go Bills! I think 🙂

  6. I think later is better for emotional and mental rest as much as physical. It's a long season and a break right before the stretch run is a good thing. But, it is what it is, so make the best of it.

The bye week although helpful for rest and healing can also cause a bit flatness in play when returning.  I've seen it with our own Bills.

Aren't the Bills undefeated (8-0) coming out of the bye week under McDermott? Flat, maybe? 8-0, yes.

The NFL does not want to waste the Bills' TV ratings on an international game. Only fans of the teams involved bother getting up early on a Sunday morning to watch these games. And I always forget they are on and usually only catch the last quarter, if it's a good game, which it rarely seems to be. They are gimmick games.

  8. Shakir - Mr. Reliable

Coleman - Will grow as a pro and improve immensely

Kincaid - Gets back to his effective role as a hybrid WR / TE that creates match-up problems

Palmer - Revives his career under Josh

Samuel & Moore - Equally Situational contributors, good options, but not great

Knox - Mostly a blocking TE or injury "next man up"

My immediate reaction was no, but after giving it some thought there's nothing wrong with creating even more competition in the WR room, even if just through training camp.  If Gabe is willing to sign a vet minimum deal and try to prove himself, and then wins a roster spot, it makes the team better.

    This.

  10. I am not a ST holder, and I only attend about once a year. But in my random pursuit, I have enjoyed the endzone seats--lower bowl--as you get a full view of what is developing as plays unfold on the field. The negative is when the entire game seems to be played on the other end of the field.

The worst for me (in many ways) was the Minnesota game in '22. All the significant action was at the other end of the field in that game. First, we were celebrating at the stop. And then, not until we saw it on the big screen did we have any idea Josh fumbled in their endzone. Ugh!
