  1. Does this sound like desperation to anyone else?

They cut a mediocre Fitzpatrick for a mediocre Kolb?

    What a franchise!

Actually, at the risk of having the naysayers rev up their flamethrowers, this is continuing to validate the sense that things are changing, IMO.

I'm not saying that Kolb will be the answer, but he has a better chance than Fitz, and comes cheaper. They are not beholden to him, so will likely take a QB early in the draft, but not feel compelled to "overspend" at #8 for one who doesn't justify the pick. QB has been an issue, and they're finally addressing it, starting with the stance they took with Fitz to either restructure and fight for the job, or they'd cut him. As for that #8 pick, signing Kolb gives them the option to go BPA or see if they can't trade back and increase the spoils.

Also, they've cut some dead wood from the roster, something they've been loathe to do in the past. They hired a coach that at least more than one team was interested in and has even been touted as a hot commodity, one with a background in offense, who then brought in an aggressive defensive coordinator who has been associated with some pretty good defenses in the last five years, and who wants to prove he wasn't Rex Ryan's puppet.

While some will point to not signing Levitre as the same old same old, given the money he got, I would have been more upset if we retained him given the position he plays. They signed a decent LB for reasonable money. They even made a pitch to bring in a TE with some big-time skill (if he recovers from the achilles, of course). It feels like there is a plan in place, and they are trying to see it through, finally.

While breaking that playoff-less streak is not likely this coming season, I don't think it will be as lousy as last season. We may actually be witnessing this team finding a direction for the first time since the late '90s.

  2. Does this make any sense if we take a qb in the first round? Maybe the Bills think the best bet this year is to draft a qb in the later rounds (a development guy with potential). Otherwise, signing Kolb and keeping Jackson does not make any sense to me.

I think it speaks to the fact the Bills don't want to draft a QB at #8, and were concerned that if they didn't they might not end up with a starting calibre QB on the roster come the season opener.

  3. Excellent response Stealth. No spin. Not like the rest of these guys who've responded but totally ignored my question above. I grew up in a different era than most here apparently. I am probably the oldest guy on the forum. IMO, schools and the media have brain-washed our youngins rather effectively. This thread is certainly a monument of that. My generation see's it differently. I wont say we are right...and you are wrong. There is no right and wrong here I suppose. BUT...if I had a gay child (and I have 3 hetero's) I definitely would be way too embarrassed to let anyone know. But thats just me. I find the whole deal absolutely disgusting, and even worse...the NFL no-name that is using his status to promote / defend /whatever his sick lifestyle. Well if that isn't crossing the line then there is no such thing as crossing the line.

My last post in this thread, so go back to your X box, or whatever they are. I wont respond. I'm done on this topic which the moderators get an "F" for putting it on the Stadium wall. Its off the charts off the wall material.

Growing up in a different era? Really? That's the defense you're going to use? I suppose you find equal rights for blacks and women disgusting as well, you know, being from a different era and all. Sorry the world is finally reaching a level of tolerance and open-mindness that you yourself are not comfortable with. Maybe we should teach our kids how to bully and beat people for being different instead of "brain-washing" them with all of this tolerance and human rights bull ****. My grandfather would have been ninety if he were still alive. His son was gay and he couldn't have been prouder of him, accepted him more, or loved him more if he tried. Get over blaming your closed mindedness on your era, or at the very least stop thinking that everyone your age views the world through your blinded eyes.

  4. That is a good start but you are forgetting vinegar, salt, sugar, pepper, cayenne, chili powder, parmesan cheese, worchestire sauce.

Franks = Aged Cayenne Red Peppers, Distilled Vinegar, Water, Salt, Natural Flavor and Garlic Powder

Sooo, you're saying Frank's, butter... chili powder, parmesan and worchestire

IMO, most important is getting the outside crispy without drying out the inside.

Also, a pinch of Dave's Insanity never hurt... okay, it never hurts too much

  5. Ben Dover

Bills at New England* November 11, 2012...

Brandon Spikes cheap shots Freddy in the head in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter, costing the Bills a timeout in a 31-37 game...

Buffalo drives 65 yards in a minute and forty three seconds to the Patriots 15 yard line...

Ryan Fitzpatrick throws an interception in the endzone to Devin McCourty when TJ Graham runs the wrong route, with Stevie and Chandler wide open in the corner of the endzone with 23 seconds left...

Bills lose to Patriots* in soul crushingly painful fashion yet again...

    BEN DOVER!!!

  6. Dahmer attended Ohio State with Chris Ward

Ward played on the '82 Jets with Reggie McElroy

McElroy was on the '96 Broncos with Jason Elam

Elam was on the '07 Broncos with Travis Henry...

...to Brian Moorman to Ryan Fitzpatrick.

    BOO-yah!

Alternatively (and more abstractly), Jeffrey Dahmer liked his men...

"Ground up and in the freezer" becomes a rallying cry along with "F5" for an epic TBD thread...

Mario Williams signs with the Buffalo Bills...

    Ryan Fitzpatrick.

  7. He's got mad spelling skills... I love the props he gave Mighty Taco.

Wasn't expecting Stevie to be droppin' the spelling knowledge the way he did.

His Mighty props got me reminiscing about Lone Star on Hertel. Nasty little hole in the wall with some of the best steak fajitas, guac and pico de gallo in Buffalo...

  8. Lol... The stat is that based on our recent draft history, it would be statistically better for us to find talent with two or even three 2nd round picks rather than just one...

So tell me this, R.A. Fisher, if we went 1 for 1 versus 1 for 2 versus 2 for 3 in draft picks in the second, which is statistically better?

  9. It's funny "drinking the Kool Aid" is/was a method of killing oneself. How did we as Bills fans get associated with the Jim Jones followers of days gone past (oh wait, I think this thread IS the answer to that) ? Now, if it is in reference to Ken Kesey............... it is just a really strange metaphor.

Not to be cynical, but I would guess that less than half the people who regularly use the phrase realize it is a Jim Jones reference and not a random ESPN talking head-ism.

As for the Kesey acid reference, I have to admit, I had to look that up.

  10. How about we stop with the stupid overused "kool-aid" comment?

Blasphemy... it's easy to spell; and it doesn't at all suggest that the stereotypical user of the phrase is him/herself mindlessly beholden to a cult-like point of view while attempting to cast that very aspersion upon others.

Besides, without an eye catching buzzword, how will I know which posts to skip without reading?
