1. Great.

The two answers I glean is that Duke is a weakling (he hasn't had adequate time to lift weights) and an idiot (the other guys at least know what to do). Actually, no the other chumps that are playing clearly do not know what they are doing. They suck.

  2. Okay, Devil's Advocate's Advocate

The OLine stinks.  You get no argument from me.  So maybe the coaching staff has to come up with trick plays to compensate for the line's lack of talent.

My question is who evaluated those players and thought that they had any talent?  And you can't just write this off to personnel decisions by Donahoe.  At some point Mularkey has to take responsibility.  Either he is a poor evaluator of Offensive Line talent, which points to a serious head coaching flaw.  Or he has no say in personnel decision, which points to him being a weak leader, which is a major head coaching flaw

What does Tom Modrak do again? Something with player evaluation?

Can't wait for him to get more authority to pick up high quality players from the discount dumpsters in the back alley!

    Woohoo! Modrak for GM!

  3. Preston is a rookie. He has done some impressive things this season, and he has had some mental failures this season. You will rarely if ever see the potential of an NFL lineman filled prior to his second or third year.

Oh, come on. Have you seen the trash lining up at the guard positions on this team? And Big Duke can't crack this line-up?

What's the problem? Is he a 300 pound weakling? An idiot? We're saving him for a surprise party?

I mean, sweet cripes, can't he even stand in front of a defender for longer than 0.000002 seconds? Anderson can't. If he can't either, he flat out sucks and rumors of his impending enshinement in Canton are hysterical delusions resulting from heavy inhaling on the ol' crack pipe.

  4. He could play multiple positions on the line, aparently always knew everyone's blocking assignment (not just his; Princeton grad), and didn't play that bad at LG last year from what I remember.

Clearly, the Bills do not need players that actually know what they are doing on this team.

  5. (a) Moulds, upon seeing Evans catch his 3rd TD, took himself out of the game.

    (b) The Bills trainer (according to Mort) never had an injury to Moulds reported to him during or even after the game.

© A coach (WR? I cannot recall) requested him to go in the game and he refused.

    (d) During half time meetings/adjustments, Moulds was sitting in his locker listening to music and disregarded coaches.

    (e) Moulds failed to attend a meeting with MM on Monday morning.

That is what I recall.  Again, even if it is not 100% accurate, any one of those deeds would deserve the punishment.

Now we know what Tom Donahoe's version of events is.

If this was the whole of what happened, Eric Moulds would have been suspended for the rest of the season if not cut outright.

  6. >Has gone .500 within the AFC East, even though in his only full season he was a rookie coach in the NFL's best division.

OK, New England won the Super Bowl last year and they are in the AFC East. But, other than them, the AFC East is pretty sorry.

I think both the Jets and Bills feasted last year on soft schedules and have come crashing back to reality this year.

  7. For the conspiracy theorists...

I wonder if TD told Mularkey not to use EM so JP didn't establish a connection with him & it would be easier to let him go.

Something stinks at OBD and it starts at the top.  Two respected veteran players going off on Mularkey?  Mularkey wanting to SUSPEND EM?  Thats ridiculous.  How many times did Marv have personality conflicts during the glory years?  All those guys were strong willed, but it never came out like this.  This whole organization with TD, Mularkey, Tom CLements etc. is a joke.

    523377

You don't have to be a conspiracy nut to smell this stench.

    There is something horribly wrong.

  8. Umm... Lou Piccone WAS good and made many big catches and ST plays for several years..

      Try again.

    523344

Jamie Mueller was a great lead blocker. He had a broken neck and left the game very early in his career, but I for one would've loved to have seen what Thurman could've done with a real fullback leading the way. Mueller was no Tim Tinsdale.

  9. reading these responses, it makes me think more and more that buffalonians simply don't like star players who want to make plays. frankly, i think they'd prefer a team of timmy tindales and brandon spoons.  the responses here are unbelievable and depressing.

    523325

    Agreed.

What's more disturbing is that the HEAD COACH seems to be against having great veteran players on his side as well.

    Good grief.

  10. We'll evaluate at the end of the season.

That comment is just so much noise. Of course, they evaluate people's performances during the season. The game isn't static and it's obvious that they make changes. (Clements lost his playcalling job, Fat Mike lost his job, Sam Adams got benched, the Eric Moulds situation.)

Basically, they're just saying "no comment".

But then, people would ridicule them if they blew up like Jim Mora and started screaming things like, "We fuggin suck! We're underachieving idiots!"

I don't like it that Mularkey seems to be having "issues" with his veterans. If he stays on as coach, it bodes poorly for free agency ... NFL players talk to each other afterall. If the word gets out that Mularkey is an assclown, getting veteran free agents will cost more.

  11. You're mistaking "hasn't reached his potential" for "hasn't shown any potential".  Jonathan Vilma is a great young LB who hasn't reached his potential either.  I'm not saying Scott can't play or is an adequate blocker.  That's incorrect.  He's very good, and will only get better.

    514496

What the hell does Jonathan Vilma have to do with this?

Mike Williams hasn't reached his unlimited potential but he has shown some potential at times. Mike Williams was regarded as a "can't miss" pick. He was going nowhere but up, up, up.

    How is Scott so different?

As far as "he will only get better", nobody really knows that for sure. But, I have noted that you are a serious fan for this guy.

If he ends up a Bill, I hope he becomes a fixture in the Pro Bowl. But I'm not going to hold my breath.

  12. Other than both of them going to Texas, they have little in common.

    513973

Maybe not. Although, highly ranked Texas lineman haven't exactly been setting the NFL on fire of late.

The part that does sound exactly like Fat Mike is the "untapped potential" business. Please, just get a guy that can play now and let's not **** around with these diamonds in the rough, maybe, could be, if Lady Luck smiles on us types.

  13. Here's a dark thought.

Jim Kelly mentioned that Nate Clements was having a truly horrendous season for a guy in his contract year.

So, what would a "playmaker" corner do in his contract year? One possibility is to realize that a key indicator for getting into the Pro Bowl is to be among the league leaders in interceptions. Going to the Pro Bowl would be good a feather in one's cap for negotiations. Interceptions often occur by taking chances and jumping routes...

I wonder if NC is so busy trying to make SportsCenter highlight plays on every down, he ends up playing like Mr. "If I only had a brain" Scarecrow...

Bottomline under this scenario: if (and yes, it is only speculation), his suspect play is the result of selfishness, then the Bills don't need the guy, whatever his talent.

  14. I wouldn't go that far.  The Panthers are a very well coached team, but their running game has been mediocre all year.  Steve Smith and their defense has been carrying this team.  They are living on reputation and a weak schedule this year.

    512886

    To summarize,

Panthers: excellent coaching. Bills: bad coaching. Panthers: great defense. Bills: terrible offense. Panthers: average offense. Bills: highly suspect, overrated defense.

It's true, the Panthers are not a great running team. What I meant is that I fear they may get their running game going, together with their passing game against the Bills overrated defense. Partly, I think this can happen because the Bills offense will be going 3 and out all game against the Panthers defense. Davis and Foster are good backs, and the Bills D is miserable against the run.

I'm not expecting much from the Bills, other than maybe the chance to return a lot of kickoffs. I just hope JP Losman survives.
