It was the Super Bowl. Shaky teams get in the playoffs every year. Teams are supposed to be vetted by the time of the Super Bowl. They're supposed to have played and beaten the best in their conference. The Falcons just choked in every phase of the game, and their coaching vanished like so much smoke and mirrors.

Julio Jones is just flat out crazy good. And, sure, Belichick is going to double him and try to take him out of the game.
But how in the world do you not put him in motion or in bunch formations and GET HIM THE FUGGIN BALL regardless? I mean, he's open when he is perfectly covered. Design something to give him the slightest bit of daylight and he's like nuclear on the defense.
Shanahan totally outsmarted himself. Good luck '9ers.
-
And even worse, they didn't even call a quick pattern. Ryan sat there waiting for God knows what until he was sacked.
The 49ers offense will be running that play next year.

The Falcons are the Bills of the NFC. A good season here and there with huge stretches of total futility. Got the stone pretty far up the hill, but fell asleep again. Chokers.
-
Atlanta has a stacked roster. But after that choke job, the good money says the wheels fly off.

I thought throwing to the midget on 3rd down when you got Sanu and Jones was pretty ridiculous. They set themselves up to win the game with a FG there.
-
How did only 1 second run off during the field goal?
Alternate fact.
-
He's already thrown 23 passes?
Have you seen the running game?

How many can you drink without risking alcohol poisoning?
Maybe just open them. <shrug>

Brady is slow as ****. On the reverse angle you could see he wasn't even close.
It looked like he was trying to hyperextend both his knees at the same time.
-
It never happened until it happens.
Profound, mahn.

Tom Brady is no Jim Kelly on an INT ... what the heck was that tackle attempt anyway?
-
Alford starts celebrating at the 20; real bright.
Don Beebe wasn't a Patriot.

This reminds me of another one.
Jim Zorn. Traded by Dallas as part of the Tony Dorsett deal. Was 3rd string in Dallas. Seahawks were an expansion team and did get to playoffs with Zorn. He is in their Ring of Honor.
The Steve Deberg connection is that the Cowboys had in camp the year before Roger Staubach, Danny White, Jim Zorn, and Steve Deberg. Jim beat out Steve and was traded the next year.
DeBerg was drafted by the Cowboys in the 12th round of the '77 draft but was the 2nd QB they took in that draft. They also took Glenn Carano in the 2nd round. Carano made the team as the 3rd string QB, and DeBerg went on to San Francisco. Jim Zorn had already signed as a free agent with the Seahawks in '76.

If Tyrod Taylor is retained, would it not be best to keep the same offense
that we've been running the past two years. Why scrap a top ten scoring
offense and instill a new one that will necessitate a learning curve.
No one complained when the last staff came in to improve a top ranked defense.

Is it bad grammar to end a period with an exclamation point?
I'm giving you a gold star for noticing my punctuation humor.

This is the most talented roster ever assembled. PERIOD!

Agreed. It also doesn't make sense for Whaley to be the source of the leaks, whether or not he lobbied with the Pegulas to ax Rex. He has nothing to gain and lots to lose.
Well, in that scenario Joe's co-worker, Average Bob, tweets that Joe sucks at his job and will be canned. The notion a co-worker thinks someone sucks at his job is pedestrian. Tweeting it far and wide would be juvenile, extreme, and very likely just stupid, but not impossible and the anonymity thing might embolden. Still, if Average Bob really values his job and wants to have a professional reputation, trashing Joe publicly would be just as likely to backfire in Bob's face as to get Joe sunk.
So, yeah, it's pretty loopy as well.
-
So Whaley still around and the leaks have all been plugged.
Methinks they weren't coming from his camp, but rather from the guys who showed up late and left early.
I wonder how that works in Average Joe's job. Average Joe anonymously tweets that he sucks at his job and he will be fired after the current project. Rumors swirl for weeks around the water cooler. And the plan is to get Joe's boss to have a one-on-one and fire Joe a week before the end of the current project?
The theory just doesn't make much sense to me.
-
It could work this time. Distract everyone with reinventing the defense so they don't notice the QB position.
-
They said exactly what they have said since they hired Rex Ryan. Both he and the GM report directly to the owner. Whaley said it, the Pegulas have always said it. All of this BS about the organization being dysfunctional was born of scuttlebut and rumors. They have been consistent since day one. When will America tire of the news media just making stuff up and running with it in order to fit their own agenda? Lately if I read something in any newspaper I kind of automatically am suspicious that it's just made up BS.
Yeah. That's a bad spot to be in, frankly. Not being able to trust any information could mean one can't trust any new information that changes one's initial reaction to anything. In the extreme, it puts the entire process of learning in a deep freeze letting us rely on "gut reactions", which can be totally wrong because there is no basis of truth.

Jags to continue on the slip-n-slide.
Sorry, but I'm still going to miss Hogan

Congrats to Hogan. Same old, same old. Bills fans like getting mule-kicked in the crotch.
