  1. 1: couldn't say, not that it matters. 2) he didn't want to be GM. 3) not that I know of. 4) this year, yes. 5) a driver would be a good idea. jw
  2. well, if the constitution is a treaty, it's been severely abused in regards to race relations, when it comes to equality. and the non-nuclear proliferation treaty was certainly a nod-and-wink agreement, considering how quickly israel became a nuclear power (reputedly, of course). and yet, you Booster, still have difficulty arguing the so-called Bush doctrine, which circumvents most international policies established in the the late 20th century prior to, of course, the viet nam conflict which, to some degree, was a different animal altogether. jw
  3. just a sec, let me refill my drink. jw
  4. Rusty was relatively -- ok, seriously -- pushed out by a certain regime, which first began the coup by marginalizing his authority. jw
  5. he was referring to Williams, no doubt. wish Tucker had the guts to discuss this "on the record" when he was in Buffalo, is all I'd have to say about that. And you can quote me on that, Ross. jw
  6. as treaties go, they're more likely worth their weight in hydrogen. if you want to go down the treaty front, i don't think that's the road to take, consider how little respect for treaties this nation has had toward its own native Indians. as for George the father, at least he gathered international resolve before going into Iraq, unlike the son, who badgered the UN and essentially got Malta to support him in his most recent excursion. and then there's Kyoto, but don't get me started on that, but then you're the one defending GWB ... jw
  7. thanks for the heads up. but i'm playing my cards clean, consequences be damned. jw
  8. trouble is, canada inadvertently gave up its nuclear (that's the way it's pronounced up north) secrets to India ... Ooops. however, my point is -- with all due respect Booster -- is that nuclear capability is going to get out. and it has for a long time. Russia, Israel (or so some claim), even Pakistan for that matter. the trouble is, now that the genie's out of the shoe, there ain't no way of putting it back again. and after the myopic stunts pulled in 2002 by one certain administration, how can anyone on this globe begin to trust a country that has the capability of electing George W. Bush? jw
  9. the devil is certainly making me do this, Booster, and my fingers are loose and fresh. it's time to blow off a little steam after dealing with one too many unexpected Bills signing that pulled me in the wrong direction. and the only regret is I used the word "hellhole" rather than "stinkhole," though it is a courtyard, and i do like the points. and at least this isn't being stuck in albany, my least favorite place in the state, where the roads lead nowhere, and every turnoff proves to be an adventure. i just wish you could smoke in this god$#m rooms, because it's totally interfering with my flow. but i'm tired of the nutfool crusader (and i'm using this word purposely) bolton's of this country, who believe there is a god-given, planet of the apes right to be the nukelar adjudicator of all things right and wrong. i've been to the woody creek hotel, and i've been to the swannie house, and there are plenty of drunks lining up on my end of the bar. jw
  10. monkeys, matchsticks and dynamite, my dear. it has the potential to be quite lethal. and i could be up for hours, even though i gotta be up for the wood and byrd availability. but, as one smart man once wrote (and it wasn't the Doctor for some strange reason), ya gotta play hurt. jw ADD: who's up for a good ole fashioned debate?
  11. oh, that's bad. that's very bad. jw
  12. sorry, thought it was health. my fault. sincerely apologize. thought it was about health insurance, in which no one is denied coverage. still, no excuse on my end. jw
  13. i'm driving manual on this one. jw
  14. not entirely true on the Rusty front, though that's another story. jw
  15. i agree, captain. jw
  16. here's the thing, chef. in canada, no one fills out an insurance application. jw
  17. being somewhat drunk on canadian whisky, and stuck in some suburban rochester hellhole, i've elected to take one step into the dark side for kicks after watching former U.S. ambassador John Bolton on the Daily Show this evening. he ended his segment by suggesting that the only nation in the world that should have nukelar (sic: he was a bush administration appointee as we know) weapons is the United States. how outrageous. the USA, USA, USA! first crowd, i'm sure would eat this up. however, to provide yet another argument as to why the arrogance of this nation knows no bounds and pisses off most every other nation on this earth, except perhaps Poland, for some strange reason, here it is: john wayne coming riding over the hill to save the day. that time is long over, and Bolton had his role in the foolishnes with his belligerence and bravado on the international stage. and here he is once again, riding six-gun in a time when humility should prevail. if there was any more proof that the past administration was a big wet fart on history, here we go. and i'm tired of having to deal with and clean up this mess, which i fear might be irreversible. we're doomed and the yahoo clown cowboys want to keep riding into the napalm sunset. and the only person left clapping is the blind drunk hannity and his fool cohort o'reilly, i guess, who have the balls of snakes and the forked tongues to prove it. and i'm on a HST rant, whose rapids can't be stopped. well, i've said enough. another round, sir. cazart. jw
  18. just filed an update on Wood and Byrd. Wood likely to practice Thursday (still reviewing contract language, so not signed despite other reports) and Byrd is considered "close" to signing. jw
  19. stop that. he is not. the title is misleading and couldn't be further from the truth ... unless he changes his name to William. jw
  20. tough to find a Swannie House out here in suburbia. jw
  21. probably not, but i'm stuck in the same hotel as you. and i got here first, so that makes you my stalker ... jw
  22. here's the thing about Owens. the reason he causes "a commotion" is because he, for the most part, says what he feels. it's somewhat unfiltered -- or at least more unfiltered than the polite "we give 110 percent" comments that many athletes provide us. and the fact that T.O. feels comfortable providing his opinions no matter the implications is why he sometimes gets himself into trouble and what makes him sound different than other athletes. Charles Barkley, whom i encountered several times covering the NBA in Vancouver, was much the same way. fans and detractors, specifically, refer to these types of athletes as blowhards. perhaps. but they're actually saying something of substance, which in this day and age of P.R. people, lawyers and press releases, it's a breath of fresh air. jw oh, and Tim, i didn't think it was my place to say who asked the questions. and as i told you over lunch, i'm glad you did. thanks.
  23. that's my piece. i used "lobbied" because it was an unprompted comment that came from T.O. directly to the initial question, which was very open-ended. as Owens got going, he actually said, "I think a lot of guys around the league need to speak up." perhaps, i could've used the word "urged." but he clearly went off on his own, expressing his opinion without anyone putting words in his mouth or trying to cause a commotion. it was a simple q and a, and Owens understood exactly what he was saying. jw
  24. in that case, i'll bring sleeping bag in case i have to sack out in the parking lot ... jw
  25. pounded? i think not. a reporter respectfully asked Owens a question, opening by saying something to the effect of, "with you being a high-profile voice in this league, what do you think of the Michael Vick situation?" T.O. then respectfully answered the question. he was then asked two follow up questions, after which the session ended. nothing was pried out of T.O. and he certainly seemed ready and willing to discuss the subject. jw
