The game where he had 35 yards passing at halftime and barely finished the game with over 100 yards.

The game where the defense kept us in it, despite the offense failing miserably.

The game where they scored 14 points.

    That one?

Unlike others you try to bully you will find I know a lot about football and yes I mean the game that he accounted for almost all of our offense including 76 yards rushing and a TD at 9.5 ypc and even caught a pass yup that game why don't you go root for the Patriots. Oh wait 2014 against Oak Pats only scored 16 they needed to get rid of that Brady guy and only 18 in a playoff against DEN what a sorry QB that Brady is.

 That's always the narrative..."Yeah, he threw for 160 yds and no INT's...but remember the Titans game in 2015?"

I wasnt referring to this game why dont you try reading all the post and realize I was referring to him putting the team on his back for a win which the post I referred to said he had never done. Which is exactly what he did in that game. I had no use for him before that game.

Yea but he didn't turn it over !!

And won the game with his legs

  2. A wide open Clay, a wide open Harvin, any WR really. He had the same deficiencies last year. 2 years so far and I still can't say, we won that game because of Taylor.

It's more often than not we won that game despite Taylor. It's concerning

Start Cardale Jones see what he has, first off.

He hasn't cost us games more importantly and Tenn last year he pretty much won single handedly. This is the prototypical Ryan QB that even Buddy was looking for in Cunningham.

TT lacks one of the key skill necessary to be a truly good QB, accuracy.

He also doesn't anticipate the WR's routes well enough, so he's a 1/2 second late on throws.

We seen this before and by year 2 he has been solved.

No we haven't we have never had this type of QB. I loved Flutie But Tyrod may end up being better. Flutie was shorter and nowhere near as fast and elusive.

  3. Some of us.... never mind.

Dareus was half terrible. He was on the ground or perpendicular to the line way too often.

    Groy held his own.

    Gilleslee runs like FJax.

Tate was fired up for this game.

Woods leaving hurt the run game.

Our safeties are horrendous. Blanton is a disgrace.

Shaq Lawson was a poor draft pick. Will Fuller was the better selection for this team.

    Charles Clay is stealing money.

Gilmore padded his free agency stats and someone will play him but really? That's what $10M/year gets you in terms of cornerback play nowadays? Have fun with him, Jerry Richardson.

#1 Really he has already produced more than expected

#2 Hopefully Rex lit a fire under their a$$es cuz Both Gilmore and Darby played better.

He has sacks in every game except today's and he made a few big plays in the backfield today...he hasn't been Bruce Smith but he sure as hell hasn't been "terrible" like some of these posters would make you believe

Yeah that was a definite penalty against them they got away with...

I find our beloved team gets attacked more by their own than Pats Fans. Years ago we were a legitimately Knowledgable fan base but now it seems these boards have become a place for some to complain while they pretend to have vast knowledge.

  4.

For every good 2 plays/drives, we have 1 very bad play/drive. This seems to sum up the play of this team to me, especially on defense. They give you so many glimpses of hope, get teams in 3rd and long, get a sack, something good, and then they find a way to give it away. This was a game of who wanted it the least and was just tough to watch at time. Seems to be a theme when we play these guys

    1. Rex – I'm starting in a place that I've tried to avoid for a while here, partially because of my old screen name. This was a very poor showing following a bye week and for a team who is grasping at playoff hopes. Going for it on 4th down on the last scoring drive said a lot to me about how Rex viewed this game.

What bothered me the most about this game was the total lack of identity. We didn't seem to have any specific type of gameplan on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. I know Rex is letting his coaches do their job, but I really don't know what I was looking at out there.

Overall, at this point, I don't really know what Rex brings to the table. This was a very misleading 12 points given up. A win is a win and this was needed, but I'm overall losing any argument besides continuity and other better options, for retaining him.

    2. Defense - communication looks and pressure early, but that's about it. Pass rush was non-existent. So many players just didn't seem to show up. Lorax got double teamed a lot. I can't find our 1st round pick's impact anywhere. Dareus disappeared after the first drive. I know, 12 points. I have to keep reminding myself of this. Most of that was the Bengals being bad, not us being good

    3. Hughes – Before, he would have great plays to offset his mistakes. Today, and overall lately, not so much. His personal fouls, offsides, and other fun mistakes really hurt the team at times when they should have been walking off the field. For the money he makes and as bad as this defense can be at times, we can't afford this from him.

    4. I've grown tired of love

You are the trouble with me

I watch you walk right by

I smile, you do not notice me

    Treat me recklessly

All you do is toss me pennies out

But the silence in me is screaming

Won't you come and get me?

    5. Kyle Willams - My defensive MVP of the game. He got good push up the middle, great jumps off the snap, and continues to be a solid player. He lost containment on Dalton, but he shouldn't be spying him in the first place. He also knocked the Bengals out of FG range on one of the drives in the 2nd half.

    6. Offense - Groy is a BIG boy and held up well. Overall happy with how the line played. However, where was Goodwin? Especially on the INT. Are we a passing team or rushing team? Do we trust our RBs or is it meant to be the TT rushing show? I ask these questions because it didn't seem obvious out there. I don't understand the lack of McCoy carries. His vision was great today. You could see them wanting to go deep early, but still needed to run the ball. It's who we are. Very disappointed with Lynn today. Also, all of this speed with Goodwin and Percy and I don't see us trying to hit these guys on crossing routes. It was either deep our hitch routes.

    7. Gilmore – credit where credit is due – quick eyes on that INT. However, as Gilmore does, gave up the Bengals 2nd TD. It was a tough play, but still his assignment. Second INT was right place at right time. This is the kind of game where the stats will make him look like a better player than he is and I'm sure he'll use it at contract time.

    8. TT – I had high hopes for him coming off the bye week and based on how he played at Seattle. His first drive was great. Found the middle of the field. Found the open guy on busted plays. Looked deep, then checked down. After that, just a rough day. I'm giving him 50% of the blame for our offense because the playcalling was crap to me and didn't help get things going. There were also quite a few plays where the WR's let him down. Goodwin didn't even try for that INT. Harvin was very slow on that late 3rd down out route. Clay's drop in the endzone was inexcusable.

Overall, like the game itself, a very forgettable Sunday for TT. However, because this arguments keep being made, Dalton couldn't make the game winning drive against us today, so I guess that means he sucks too. Brady couldn’t do it against the Seahawks last week either from the 1 yard line. I get needing to see that final drive to win a game from TT, but it's never a give-in with any QB.

    9. 1st down/3rd down comparisons – Our inability to get off the field on 3rd down, regardless of yardage was horrific today. They were over 50% on offense against us. It was a combination of soft defense and penalties. We were very lucky to be playing against a Bengals without AJ Green.

    10. Tate – I think he had his best game as a Bill today. Didn't have any huge returns, but played each one smart and gave us good position every chance he had to run. I've been hit or miss on him, but he earned it today and deserves the shout out.

Sorry if this was too negative for a win. Back to .500 after a win that I had circled as a loss to start this season is reason for positivity. It's just hard to get excited about this team doing what they need to for the rest of the season with how they played today.

    Go Bills!!!

Offside on Hughes should have been called a false start on the offense. Dareus looked good all game to me. We didn't get the sacks but Dalton was under a lot of pressure. The # of third downs converted was the only thing that disturbed me defensively. My concerns for the season is the deck seems to be stacked against us when it comes to injuries even with the depth being better this year there is only so much a roster can handle.

  5. 12

If our D can keep playing the way they did today we can win a SB. Tyrod didn't cost us the game. At this point he is a middle of the pack QB that can be really dangerous at times and is a middle of the pack QB without his #1 WR and alot of beat-up WRs. Even with all his weapons he is not top 10 as a few may appear to think, but he is not as bad as the picture some who care more about not being wrong try to twist and manipulate stats to create.

I Like this QB and his first 2 years were not very impressive.

I will reserve final judgement for about week 10 next season.

  6.

I've commented plenty. They are garbage time stats. It's like a DH hitting 40 home runs, but 36 of them are solo shots in the 9th inning when his team is either up or down by 5 runs. What good does it do the team? None. The stats are pretty, but this team has 5 losses 9 weeks in. His pretty stats don't do anything to help the team win games.

Garbage time stats from a game that we won, and two games we were still in till the end? One we possibly should have one for prospective 16-0, 37-31, 31-25. Your tires are really startn to spin. I'm still not sure about him but your evaluation and comparison in this thread is not legitimate at all. He's not a prototypical QB but I think in the end he may be the best the league has ever had that plays that style. He's better than Kap and he played in a SuperBowl.

  7.

There is a very specific way the AFC West has to win/lose to all get to 11-5. Chances are it won't happen. They will likely have better AFC records than us though.

    Chiefs:

    Tampy Bay

    Denver

    Atlanta

    Oakland

    Tennessee

    Denver

    San Diego

    Broncos:

    BYE

    Chiefs

    Jaguars

    Titans

    Patriots

    Chiefs

    Raiders

    Raiders:

    Houston

    Carolina

    Buffalo

    Kansas City

    San Diego

    Indianapolis

    Denver

I don't see Pitt, Tenn or Mia going 11-5, and if we go 11-5 we hold the head to head against Oak as we would have to beat Oak to do so. So if they don't win the division we would be in. But I don't see us running the table and we would be 8-4 in AFC if we did. With Den and KC having a High possibility of 8-5 in AFC if they go 11-5. If we run the table we are likely in. I just dont see it happening and I do see KC going 11-5 with an 8-5 AFC record to take the final WildCard. One of them can go 14-2 and it means nothing to our playoff chances as long as it isn't Oak because that would mean we lost to them and at best finish 10-6.

  8. Bills have to go 6-1 just to get to 10-6, not happening.

I think we have a good chance of going 10-6 but i think it takes 11-5 to get in. I think the depth has drastically improved and next year will be the year we end the streak.

Exactly. It's time to lose out.

No. I think confidence is important.

Of course. It gives Bills fans this false sense of hope when they see the graphic of us still being in the hunt. Usually, it's shortly after Thanksgiving where reality starts to sink in and we can start focusing on the draft while other teams are getting ready for a playoff run. A Bills tradition like no other. Unfortunately, we won't have the added excitement of a new coaching search. We'll be waiting until next year for that one.

The truth is I actually look forward to the draft now days given the fact that we actually add talent now and not bust after bust.

Will T/K Pegs have the audacity to fire the greatest GM in the world? Don't they know he drafted Ron Darby AND traded for Jerry Hughes?

Don't forget signing two possible DPOY and cutting Mario, not resigning Byrd, Levitre. etc...

and that is this year! Last year the coaches wouldn't let those pro bowl pass rushers actually pass rush. This year the defense is so focused on pass rushing and cheating up with the safeties to help support the run defense that the Bills really good DB's are left in single coverage far too often. We all see the result and it stinks!

So, the Buffalo Bills lead the NFL in sacks and and have the leading sacker!! Yet it seems so ineffective because the better QB's are ripping the Bills secondary apart due to that man coverage.

What I want to know is when do we Bills fans see that best in the league defense that was promised by Rex Ryan? The 2016 Buffalo Bills are currently 21st in the league in total defense

    http://www.espn.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/total/position/defense

Mario is leading the league in sacks isn't he? LOL

  9. He has sucked when his supporting cast was healthy, too. Don't forget ... he played 14 games last season and being down Sammy Watkins isn't a get out of jail free card. Every team has injuries.

    Enough excuses. For Christ's sake.

Don't care to comment on any of our statistics, I am really interested in your take on those.

  10. It is a bit of both. Tyrod has been inaccurate.

May be the Bills should first put supporting talent around him to completely evaluate him before getting rid of him. I agree he has not been a good closer...All good/great QBs know how to win games when it is on the line. But he still needs help. And don't forget our Defense...it has been crappy!

I think his supporting cast is excellent talent wise but health is another story.

  11. I've been quite long enough. Here are some stats for you.

    65-102, 63.7, 722, 7.07, 3-2, 85.0, rush- 13, 49, 3.77, 1TD

    72-107, 67.3, 832, 7.78, 5-2, 99.4, rush- 15, 96, 6.40, 1TD

The nice thing about division rival comparisons are common opponents. It's not even close and it's the fairest way possible. I look at things objectively not with bias. Proper evaluation looks for the truth and is not used to prove ones own point. An honest evaluation may sometimes change the opinion of the one who evaluates.

Both have played NE, Seattle, and the Jets. Tyrod is not Tom Brady but Tanny reminds me of Fitzy. Now that is inconsistent.

I intentionally left out the second NE game due to the fact that Miami has played NE only once and the best comparison possible was our first NE game as they were close to the same time.

  12. I didn't assume anything. I linked the results of the '09 season per the NFL's stat site.

What other homework do you suggest I do? :pirate:

You make it sound like they had 20 less pass attempts. You could have a few attemps and have a good passer rating the ratings of their QBs were worse than ours and that is bad.

  13. BUF was #30 overall against the rush:

    http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tab...;seasonType=REG

Given that, consider that the opposition didn't pass much against them...why bother? So you look like you have a killer pass rush or have an All-World backfield...

The CIN press releases used to yo-yo...one season, in the run-up hype to sell tix, they would say that they were way up there in pass defense (they got run over). Next season, they touted the tough run D (they got torched by passers and receivers).

Actually they did. Either way you want to spin it it will look good because we almost led the league in Ints. Do your homework don't just assume.

Wow a whole 5 more pass attempts per game difference between them and the most passed against tem in the NFL.

The Titans had 37 passes against them per game and were ranked 31st in pass defence we had 32 per and were ranked 2nd. The Jets were 31 per game and #1. On second thought don't do your homework because you are not capable of analyzing stats completely just don't type.

  14. Actually, the entire secondary is overrated. Remember the opening game vs the Pats, Moss and Welker had like 25 catches between them? Yeah, great lockdown coverage. We don't have a single DB that WR's are losing sleep over facing. Don't overreact though and try and say I'm advocating taking a CB in the draft, cause I'm not. Just saying our secondary isn't that great, middle of the pack is about right.

You base your opinion on the first game of the season brilliant. We had the 2nd ranked pass D in the league Brady had 11 completions in the second meeting.

  15. More than half of Byrds int's were due to the qb making a bad play, not byrd making a good play. All he has shown is that he can catch the ball. He is slow and takes terrible angles to the ball. Still needs alot of work and probably wont develop into a superstar like people think.

All Ints are due to a QB making a bad play. The point is he has instincts and he doesn't drop the ball. All DBs have these opportunities most of the time they drop the ball or don't make a play on it. That is what seperates the greats from the rest.

  16. After reading countless number of posts on how many holes this team has and that they will be lucky to win 6 games in 2010, I want to make the following comment:

Over the Dick Jauron era, we had consistently fielded playoff caliber teams. There were holes in the lineup every year, but the talent was pretty much mostly there. Question marks did exist at QB and the lines, but if it wasn't for a few plays here and there, we could have easily been 10-6 in any of the last 4 seasons. A lot of people blame injuries, but every team suffers injuries (we did suffer more, but I don't like that excuse).

This year our team is arguably weaker than last (no more TO, Butler retired, Schobel will be gone, we are running a 3-4 with players who fit a 4-3, etc.). However, one crucial difference has occurred - DJ is no longer here. On top of that many of the "old regime" is also gone. There was a notable difference in the team's performance under Perry Fewell last year (yes they did only go 3-4). Had he coached the whole year, I would have expected a better season than 6-10.

But now, we have something new: a totally NEW regime. Since Nix has been in charge, the team seems to be operating with "a purpose". The attitude has changed. I am not sure if Gailey will be able to emanate it as well as Nix, but I feel these guys have come in with something to prove.

I still think we have a lot of holes and need a franchise QB (I keep telling myself - give up on Trent, but part of me feels in a new scheme, he has the talent), but I think if the new regime comes out with something to prove early, the team will be able to build off their successes. The key is we need to have the "attitude" to win the close games. We were 2-6 in games decided by 7 points or less last season. We flip that upside down and we go 10-6. We don't have a Super Bowl team yet, but I think the cards are there for a playoff birth.

A good draft and some players meeting their potential and we good be good but alot has to go our way. Remember we are Bill's fans things don't go our way. That was then this is now alot of it has to do with energy and outlook. We are a fan-base that puts their heart into it and well, we get it ripped out. Only time will tell.

    Go Bills!!!!

  17. if i was him, I sure as hell wouldn't retire. sure he took the panthers to the superbowl a few years ago, but in recent years had major surgery on his arm and has thrown more int's than td's... I'd want to leave the game with my legacy as a winner, which he probably won't do in cleveland...

Last year is the only year he has thrown more Ints than TDs.

  18. Except that there is NO CAP now, which means there are no more excuses. If they were truly committed to winning, which they aren't, they would overspend to make up for a decade of horrible drafting. But all they care about is cost-cutting. Go ahead and be optimistic. This team will be lucky to win 3 games next year barring some miracle on draft weekend. The cupboard is completely bare.

And if there is a cap next year the over-spenders will be in trouble.
