  1. Bill Parcells had nothing to do with it. It was Sean Peyton in 2003 that signed him, when he was coaching for the Cowboys. Then in 2006, when Peyton went to the Saints, he tried to trade for Romo, but Jerry Jones refused and kept him.

I stand corrected Parcell's actually felt Romo was to small and couldn't take the pounding of an NFL starting QB.

  2.

I think, after 17 years, we deserve to come up with a new litmus test.

Doug Whaley (2013- )Don't think you can fairly say 17 years. Especially with a change in ownership and its 16 years unless I'm mistaken because we still have a chance.

Well Jerry isnt picking players now, but for quite awhile he did pick players. Was an unmitigated disater and he finally wised up and hired some real football people.

Although, i believe, didnt he pull Romo out of basically nowhere?

    Bill Parcells

There's a whole lot of sour grapes in this thread. I know it hurts to say it, but JJ is (indeed) the better GM. I love the Bills, but the truth hurts.

    Sure

  3. Oh, man, you're in trouble now, you've used facts and then compounded your foolishness by not accepting as Holy Writ that Shag is a wasted pick, that Dareus is a failure, that Sammy cost elevendy seven picks, and that TT's agent hornswoggled Whaley. Don't you know we live in a time when anyone can make up crazy stuff out of thin air and pretend it's true, and the rest of us are supposed to nod in agreement?

    So True

You may want to delete your signature. Because we're (the team) isn't going to the playoffs this season.

You must be psychic, because last I looked we are 5-5 with 6 left to play and it's not impossible that we run the table. I am not saying we will but we seem to be getting healthy at the right time.

  5. Well Brady would suck given the talent of the available WR the TT has to work with. Goodwin just runs fast and goes deep, Tate and Hunter have hands made of oil, and Clay was not worth stealing from Miami. So when your best RB goes down and clearly TT is hurt (he is not moving or cutting as normal), of course you go to the check down. I think TT can be a good QB, he just needs Watkins, Woods and Harvin to all be on the field and hopefully, Hunter and Tate to become the WRs their prior teams though they were.

I think we should stick with Tyrod I believe he is developing but Clay is open frequently and the ball doesn't come his way. Why I can only speculate.

Set terms homie. Brad Smith Jr ain't gonna last too long.

I think he will be in buffalo for what 5 more years after this one.

  6.

And Jerry was quite vocal that they Drafted Zack Martin due to his son, Stephen, basically beating him down into his chair and preventing him from racing to the phone to Draft Manziel. Basically, Jerry finally wised up and realized he's paying football guys to know football, let them do their job. Which, is to his credit - but not the actual selection of said team. He also gets kudos for patience, a lot of it. But that's where it stops, IMHO. Well, that and the new stadium, which is really awesome.

Jerry Jones is the best owner in the league now that he shook off the Al Davis mentality. That's why I think we are in good shape because the Bill's version of said mentality is gone God rest his soul.

The current owners will allow the football people to do their jobs and what I see with our team is true progress like I have not seen in too many years to think about. I think it's time for us to look forward and stop looking back. It seems like many want to give credit to the new people for all the miserable years that they are not responsible for, and not give them credit or even acknowledge the progress that has been made the last few years. I think it is forgotten that we had 9 straight years of sub .500 football.

As far as I can see, he was pretty spot on. Why would you consider it biased in any way, shape or form???

Doesn't surprise me that you wouldn't recognize a biased post you being one of the big three bills haters. I think you already know the names that are missing and you are sure not gonna list them. I will give you one how do you leave out Incognito.

  7. Dak Prescott (will be stuck in wage scale for four years)

Zeke Elliot (monster RB with four more years)

Jaylon Smith (Top 10 talent...wait and see for 2017)

    O Line ...enough said

Jerry has assembled a strong young team. Is already re-doing some O line contracts, defense may be suspect, but look what he assembled in one or two years.

    Meanwhile, in Buffalo:

    Tyrod

Old Shady with a lot of $$$

Dareus (3rd pick, lots o' $$$, groin is ouchy)

Sammy (gave away three first round picks for a WR with a hurt foot)

Lorax (love the guy but age will catch up to him)

    Shaq (missed 7 games)

    Gilmore...(fill in the blank)

Jerry has every reason to be named "GM of the Year"

You left an awful lot of names off Whaley's list. I hope this is just an oversite and not a biased post.

  8.

    So Whaley took a QB in the 4th round who's a 2 - 3 year project? Brilliant.

Dak Prescott is leading the Cowboys to the Super Bowl potentially, and the Bills are developing a 4th round 3 year project QB?

It was a supplemental pick if I remember correctly so 4th but not really and that is exactly when you start to draft such players.

  9. Looks like a close race

Once we're eliminated, Cardale should be playing. But Rex won't do it because he has a better chance of winning games with a more experienced quarterback. And he wants to win a few because it will make him look better once he's fired. Insofar as EJ goes, fogetit.

Cardale is not active for a reason. However I do believe Whaley sees him as our QB of the future.

  10. Cherry picking Brees to fit your narrative, ok whatever. Know that Brees didn't have the luxury of 4 years of tutelage in a Super Bowl winning QB and coach not to mention 4 years of OTAs, training camps, preseason games, playoff games and the week to week preparation of running scout teams, 4 years of this stuff not zero or one like Brees. But whatever keep making excuses for TT because you know a lot about football, amiright!

Actually its not cherry picking given the fact that there is a direct connection to what I believe TTs issues are and what Brees' issue was. So it's not cherry picking and if you think sitting on the bench is the same as playing I have news for you it isn't. At least I know what I'm picking. A person can read A book in spanish(ALL 22) all they want but if they don't know Spanish (know what they are talking about) it doesn't do them any good. But I think you must know at least that I have a valid point or you would not have attacked. I'm dealing with apples not cherries because I compare apples to apples. Many of you will not even try to see what fruit the tree produces before you cut it down and I get it somewhat your sick of waiting.

  11. No one is saying they know more about the X's and O's of the game more than our coaches (with the exception of a very few on this board who can spout off schemes, coverages, etc.), but I will say this: many of us here were spot on with the evaluation of certain players like Maybin, Fitz, TJ Graham, EJ and others well before they were released or demoted by the team. The guys who draft/acquire these players never want to be criticized or held accountable. That's the beauty of this board...it's a system of checks and balances. So when we now talk about Tyrod having limitations, it hurts me to think we still haven't found our QB for years...but reality is setting in. Even if he beats the Jags and throws for 200 yds (a huuuge game for him), I will still have this opinion. We were supposed to see big strides in his game this year according to Whaley and Rex...we have seen two strides forward and 1 1/2 strides back.

fair enough but you do admit he is better this year than last just not progressing as fast as you would like. I posted the stats of Drew Brees first 2 years as a starter in another topic they were not very impressive. I think Tyrod is still learning how to ovecome his lack of height which Brees had to do.

  12. and patience!

Wilson, Cousins, and Brady all had a learning curve. Wilson passed for more than 300 yards 4 times in his first 3 seasons, Cousins had 17tds and 18 ints through his first 3 years, Brady passed for more than 300 yards in 6 of his first 46 games.

Tyrod's start to his career is very very similar to the start of Wilson's career numbers wise.

No need to bash solely Bills fans here. Almost everyone questioned the pick at the time.

I was pissed because I was hoping the Bills would get him. I really think Cousins was Shannahan's guy all along.

That's right. Romo would come to Buffalo and never walk again because Rex.

Actually it pre-dates Rex who I actually like as a coach.

  13. Hmmm, that's interesting since you think Tyrod is good. Watching the All 22 each would have any other QB leading the league in pass yards and TDs if they played for the Bills. That's not even debatable, it's right there in video how bad Tyrod is and it's not just opinion either.

The excuses still being made for him are pathetic.

And buy the way you can see the receivers that are open when you watch the game as well. He is never going to lead the league in passing but I'm okay with that as long as we win and as long as he keeps getting better. I liked Wilson and Cousins. I wanted the Bills to draft both but we didn't. I am not in opposition to drafting a QB almost every year.

  14. Hmmm, that's interesting since you think Tyrod is good. Watching the All 22 each would have any other QB leading the league in pass yards and TDs if they played for the Bills. That's not even debatable, it's right there in video how bad Tyrod is and it's not just opinion either.

I don't think I ever used the words good. I think I would say he has potential and hasn't stopped improving. I would say at this point He is the 20th ranked QB in my opinion. But a lot of posters act like he is #32 and that's not the case and then some act like he is top 10 and that is not the case either. I'm sorry if your offended by the fact that I trust Rex Ryan, Whaley and the other professionals more the take of posters on this board. They are aware of his current deficiencies and so am I and I do wonder if he will be able to overcome the fact that he is vertically challenged, but once again he is not as bad as some make him out to be and not as good as others do. Because of the contract he recieved before we ended up in a bad position and had to extend him.

  15. Nobody is happy that we're not in a better position in terms of W/L. I think the OP is trying to find a reason to optimistic, and he should be lauded for it.

Your wastig your time he and others like him are impossible even when proven wrong or given reasonable arguments they wont budge. They wont even think for a moment that they could be wrong. I could almost understand if they were Pats Fans but The patriot and the Jets fan on this board are more reasonable its quite sad really.
