  1. One off the top of my head is Santonio Holmes.

And Plaxico Burress. .............. To respond to the question about wanting him on my team. No chance. Winning is not that important.

I am surprised by the comments against Harrison. I agree with the article. And Goodell is way out of his element as a commissioner. He acts more like a Kindergarten teacher, and worst, never sticks up for players. I realize that the owners pay his salary, but even the baseball commissioner Selig occasionally goes after an owner, a position he once held.

Didn't Belicheck and the Patriots get fined very heavily from Goodell. Lost a first round draft pick. 500.000 dollars.

  2. "7" I am glad you posted this article. I read it earlier and was dumbfounded by it. James Harrison you are a disgrace. Playing the race card today. When your privledged life has never been effected by race. I do not care what you say about your team mates. I personally thing Big Ben is a piece of garbage. But to say the NFL commisioner is a racist. Just shows how stupid you are. I hope he gets a personal Lawyer and goes after you for slander. If you were on fire I would at least beat you with a stick to put it out. Here is hoping you become broke very soon and know what it is like to be broke and black in society today. When you make 6 Million dollars a year No one feels sorry for you. Just sound like a very spoiled child who does not want to get punished when you do wrong. (Oh sorry you are a spoiled child not a man)

  3. I think Warner is wrong. What do the team owners bring or add to the pro football product?

It used to be that businessmen like Mr. Ralph were the only ones with either capital or the cajones to risk there money. They proved their point and were richly compensated for their original risk, In fact the last few years after the players forced the owners to essentially accept them as partners with the CBA forced upon the owners after the last lockout has brought them even more money.

Warner us right that the players got a great deal in the last negotiation, they essentially not only were recognized as partners but arguably the majority partners as the deal gave them a majority of the total receipts.

The owners caved rather than compete against each other in a free market.

By locking out the players and being sued by Brady et al. the owners have allowed a lawsuit by individuals asserting that they be allowed to compete in the free market for personal service contracts. In general, I support free market approaches like this rather than the social compact of the team owners. I think by holding the free market line the players can force a reconfiguration of pro football which essentially cuts out the economic inefficiency and drag of the owners. Not only are their ample sources of capital from the networks, other rich investors (even lowly Buffalo has three options with the assets Pegula, Golisano, or the Jacobs family), municipal areas following the Packers model, perhaps the players themselves pooling assets or something else I have not thought of.

The Packers model also demonstrates that the management of the team needed and provided by the Halas's, Mara's and Rooneys can also be replaced.

I think the situation is clear, if the players were to win their lawsuit there is pro football again. If the owners win their lawsuit there is a lockout and labor struggle. How can any fan be against there being football beside some weird doctrinal beliefs which trumps their desire for the game.

I think the players are moving slowly as they rather would not kill the teams writing them big checks. However, the team owners need to be replaced as they are not the product the players are the game.

First I would like to compliment you on how well your article was written. Then I would like to say I completely disagree with you. The teams and the owners are the absolute back bone and foundation of the league. Players are transient members of the league. Teams and owners remain. If franchises are not healthy then the league is not successful. I personaly stand firmly with the owners on this. In my opinion the players are completely disillusioned to think they can continue to make the lions share of the money. It is not a business model that will last for very long. Just like most of there careers.

  4. They the players are going to get what they are asking for. That is totally and utterly screwed. D. Smith I think is worried about his own bottom line and legacy. That is why he refuses to negotiate in any way with the league. He wants to settle in court like any good lawyer. I hope the players now realize that they should have put someone in position that understands the dynamics of the game. Not just the dynamics of a court room. I am so digusted with the players at this time. I truly hope they suffer when they are no longer getting there slave wages. I am almost hoping that the owners keep them out for a whole season and none of them get payed.

  5. What I like most about Marcell and maybe its just me but in the video of him coming to Buffalo, when he goes to Mr. Wilson's office and Ralph starts getting up from his chair, Marcell went to him and helped him up. Sometimes its the little things the speak volumes. I think he will end up being a class act and someone who all of us as fans can be proud of to call a Bill.

    Go Buffalo!

I noticed the same thing and thought wow a young man with class and manners. Me thinks his jerseys will be very popular amongst Bills fans. If he can really beef up our run defense. This will do wonders for the Offense. I have not looked it up but what was the time of possession stats for Our Beloved Bills last year. I would bet it was very lopsided. A stronger Defense can do nothing but make the offense better.
  6. What a racist pig. how can he go on air and say such things? He needs to be reprimanded immediately. NFLN should fire him and demand an apology. I cant sit around and take offense to such things. Embarrassing.

I do not see that in his statement. He was just trying to give us a complete picture of Mallett. I think you are over reacting to this just a little bit.
  7. We need a nose tackle. neither Troupe or Williams are suitable nose tackles for a 3-4. The LBs on this team look very bad due to a great part of the lack of a true NT. if we take Von in rd 1 we have to come back and take a NT in rd 2.

Agreed. One would be a waste without the other. This I think is a very real senario for the BB.

  8. I am one of those people who was (past tense) not a Von Miller fan. My thinking on that has changed the more research I do on him. He has been called the cleanest person in the draft by multiple sources. He was very productive football player. A poster earlier mentioned character concerns with this player. I have heard of none. Sure he stood with the NFL players with there anti-trust suit. This does not make him a militant or bad guy.

My top 3 wish list in this draft are as follows in order of preference

    1 Cam Newton

    2 Von Miller

    3 Patrick Peterson

  9. Does anyone know the condition Ralph is in lately? I take-care of my 92 year old Grandfather (WWII vet) and I have seen his health rapidly deteriorate in the last few months. I cannot imagine that Ralph is in any position to make a sound decision concerning his business if he is "close" to the shape of my Granddad. Just wondering if anyone has any updates.

Yeah and I got trounced by a 92 year old guy on the golf course playing a skins game. You cannot compare the two just the individual.

  10. I do not have a clue. I have a feeling that if Newton is there at 3 Buffalo picks him. If I had to put a player on a piece of paper he would be it. But really truly have no clue. This is the strangest draft I can remember. No one, I do not if think Carolina knows yet who will be the first player off the board.

All of following players has been mentioned as first picks in the draft.

    Newton

    Gabbert

    Peterson

    Dareus

    Fairley

    Quinn

    Green

Von Miller might be the most coveted player. Who knows.

  11. By my very nature I am not a union "Guy". This situation just re-affirms to me why I am not. I feel the players in this are totally out of line and from the very beginning were just going to take this to court. The players got a great deal I mean great deal in the last CBA. The players want nothing else. They will be very happy to continue to play under the very favorable terms of the last CBA. In case the players do not realize the cost of living has gone up tremendously in the last 5 years. The price of Gasoline in 2006 on the west coast average was $2.38 on the gulf coast it was $2.08. Today prices on the west coast are $3.84 and the gulf coast $3.43. That is more than a 33% rise in cost over the last 5 years. This is just in one example. Nothing is cheaper today. This current group of players are not special. They are just the current group of players. They come and go every year. The league and teams remain. This is the important thing. Not how much can the individual player make in the next 1 or 2 years. The owners are looking out for there bottom line and there own wallets. NO doubt! The 32 teams/franchise are the back bone of this league. Not the players. The average career of a player is 3.5 years. Most teams have been owned for decades by the same person or family. This is the strength of the league. If you are a exceptional player in this league you are exceptionaly compensated for it. If you are a bad player in the league you are still compensated very well for it. I wish the Owners well in this dispute. These are the people I really on to keep the league healthy and functioning year in and year out not the transient players.

  12. Just thinking out loud . Now that the Bills have hired DW as assistant HC & LB coach , if the defense still sucks this year , (knowing that Chan & Buddy are not afraid to pull the plug on people that are not doing their job - see Trent Edwards)

How much time will George Edwards be given to get the D on the right track ??

Especially with DW waiting in the wings ??

4 games max if D is horrible again.

  13. What would disappoint me the most IS NOT PICKING PETERSON with the 3rd pick. The kid is very special. Stud on tape a stud at the combine. We could use a very special player like this to help carry us in the future. A player people talk about. In the most positive of ways. I agree with an earlier poster who said that Von Miller is not as good as Arthur Moats. Or the same player. Do not take a question mark at #3 take a sure thing.

  14. You can debate the issue of how much this organization spends if you want to. That isn't very telling. An organization's spread sheet doesn't tell how well or poorly a franchise is being run. The measuring stick is the team's record. The history of the Bills is mostly about losing. It's historical record is 358-406-8. In a system designed for parity the Bills haven't made the playoffs since 1999. Last year our rankings on defense and offense were near the bottom. It's gotten so depressingly bad that now some hometown zealots are referring to our almost wins as successes. How much more lame can you get?

The issue is not about money; it is about how you spend money. Is there a serious person other than your standard team flacks willing to say that this clown franchise is smartly managed? Is there anyone willing to say that our front office has drafted well over the past decade or so? Is there anyone willing to say that the owner has assembled a premier front office over the past decade or so?

The people who should be the most upset are those who claim that the baron owner spends money at a competitive rate. If that truly is the case then how much value has he gotten out of his unfocused expenditures?

Whether Ralph is cheap or not, who cares? The real issue is whether he is a competent owner. Anyone who doesn't know what the answer is should go back and look at the historical record.

Just go buy a freakin Patriots jersey. So sick of the negative fans on this board. It almost makes it not worth visiting. The board shoulb be broke up into fans, those that route for the Bills and those that root in the mud.

  15. As good as the draft is in D-line and OLB. Wilson is regarded as the best MLB in the draft. If he is there in the second you have to get him. I was a C. Newton supporter earlier in the draft process. Now I think the Bills should use all of there draft picks on Defensive players. Sign a R tackle in free agency. Go into the season with a whole new Defensive attitude.

  16. Marcel Dareus at #3 If gone Patrick Peterson (who I really want anyway). Dareus is just so much more of a need.

Phil Taylor in the second. You can never I mean never have enough good Defensive linemen. In 1999 the last time the

Bills were in the Playoffs. Your D-line consisted of Bruce Smith, Phil Hansen, Pat Williams, Ted Washington and

Marcelis Wiley (Sorry If I spelled wrong). Superb football talent in all positions of there D-line.

  17. What I see is a guy who got thrown out of Florida for academic laziness, cheating, and theft, then went on to be a dominant QB for one year in a small-time junior college environment, then enabled his dad to earn a nice bit of $$scratch$$ by choosing Auburn - where a superior program, excellent coaching, and a stellar supporting cast allowed him to shine for one season on real NCAA (Div 1-A FBS) team, after which he instantly abandoned his team and the program and hired a team of agents, lawyers, and PR consultants to enable him to 'cash in' quickly for the maximum financial gain...

So what's not to like?

Who wouldn't burn a high first round pick and knock over anyone in their way to hand a $50M contract to a kid like that??

What I see is a guy who was eligible to play last year by the NCAA. Who scored a ridiculous 51 TD last year, Won the national championship. Won the Heisman trophy. Since that time he has done all of the right things immage wise. It is past time for the Bills to bring in a winner. Does he want to make every dollar possible Yeah I think he does. This is the American way. Capitalism at its best. He is just trying to capitilize on it. If my fellow posters do not see that the kid is a flat out winner, and the biggest mistake the Bills could make is not drafting this kid. It is time for us to put pressure on opposing teams. By all means keep Fitz. Let him be a part of this team for the next 10 yrs also. Just please pick the special athlete and the most dynamic player in this draft.

  18. Really...Corto got resigned...

From all accounts he has a strong work ethic, seems likeable, and he contributes on Special Teams, but the Bills need to seriously get away from having a current roster with 5 legitimate starters on their team, 20backups, and 20+ "blue collar special teams guys."

Agree 100% home town player and all. We need talent. If John Corto is our starting SS we are in trouble. Wait we are already in trouble.

  19. Trent Dilfer has a total man crush on Cam Newton. He was very impressed with his media workout today. Trent could not believe how hard he made it and into a stiff breeze. He thinks that he will rocket up draft boards. Trent also was amazed at his size. Trent said his own measurements of 6-4 230 and was dwarfed by Cam. I for one would not mind Buffalo taking a chance on a modern day QB. That is what Cam is. I for one love the fact that he is a winner........

The comparison to Mike Vick is not fair Cam is just a much bigger much stronger man. Mike might be faster and the better athlete I will not doubt that. Cam is like a power forward playing QB. You can compare him to Jamarcus Russell physically this is true. Even in character this also might be true in that it is spotted. I for one think that Cam Newton has always thought he would be great and he has taken advantage of that from day one. I also think that he does not want one contract. But multiple contracts. If we pick him third we had better be ready to pay him at least as much as the first pick in the draft. QB premium. I would not be heart broken about this pick. A QB who one 2 national championships.

He will not make one tackle on defense this is true. I do not see this kid being a looser in the NFL. If we pass on him I think we will regret it. Pick him if you can.
