So players have to be "great in all 16 games" now to be worth their money? There are approximately zero players who are great in all 16 games including Aaron Donald and Brady and anyone else you can name. Keep digging a deeper hole, it's the one thing you are good at. ;)

Do you think Beane has said to anyone "let's pay him whatever he wants.  Even if we get 12 games out of him and they are pretty good games, who cares?"

Because it's okay to overpay for some guys. Yes. And he brings a lot of intangibles. And since when is 12 games a fraction of a season, unless you consider 3/4ths to be a fraction (and don't say "it's a fraction" and look stupid. ;)

They would need him to be great in all 16 games, because this isn't close to the Offense he was snapping to in KC.

The Chiefs concluded he wasn't a significant enough piece of their insanely successful Offense to keep.

He does.  But his history is well-known.  If they're still going with him over Rosen, whose history hasn't been written yet and who theoretically could become a franchise QB, not to mention for whom they gave up a 2nd rounder, it says a lot about what they think of him.

Who was facing starters and who was facing backups?

Did you ask this last year?

Well......yeah I guess since he didnt practice all training camp you are technically right.....

Except he will start opening day and is a total stretch of the "facts" on your part

    Except it wasn't.

Look, if he goes out this year with another concussion, no one on this board will be standing up for the deal.

Or they were 9-2 with him and 3-2 without.

He came back in December.  They went 4-3 from there on.

That is not in any way the definition of jackpot. He can play in 12 games this year and it could still be a good trade. He can play good instead of very good and not be worth the money they spent and still be a good trade. They DON'T need to hit the jackpot with him at all, he just needs to be pretty good.

Just pretty good?  That's not what they are paying for.  Nor are they paying for pretty good for a fraction of each season.

Fun questions from the game coverage last night. Any have talked about their perceived “struggles” from Stephen Hauschka this preseason and whether the Bills should have extended him.  I think that some may be underestimating his talent.  Because when you look at his production, I think you can ask the question whether Steve is the greatest kicker in Buffalo Bills history.

While he has only been in town for a few years, I think you might be hard pressed to find a kicker who was more reliable.  He is 7th all-time in NFL history for accuracy and has shown that he can make clutch kicks including long field goals with consistency.  IMO there has never been a kicker as talented.

The closest one that comes to mind is Steve Christie.  For a few seasons after his signing Christie was flat out clutch.  But around 1994 his performance and consistency began to slip a bit.

IMO there is no one else close.  Don’t pretend that Scott Norwood was ever on that level.  Even in his Pro Bowl year in 1988, he was not as dependable from outside 40.  In fact, the Bills held onto Norwood for too long when they

Others like Rian Lindell or Matt Carpenter were ok but not among the league’s best.

Only if you count his career before he got to Buffalo.

Of course that would make no sense.  So the answer to your question is no.

Not really. It's okay to overpay for some players. I would much rather pay a 20m player 30m than a 8m player 5m, especially OC for a young raw QB.

He's one concussion away from an injury buy-out.

Recall that in 2017, he went out twice after injuring then re-injuring the same foot.  Last year the concussions.  This off-season--straight to the concussion protocol.

KC let him go because they didn't see the value against the risk.

Or 16 snaps a game which is probably 25% of the snaps on offense

You need a guy to clear the way for runners and it's a physically grueling position

Yeah, so he's hardly on the field.  The Bills rushing game has nosedived since they signed this guy.  Why do they need him when so many other teams don't really use one for "clearing the way for runners" anymore?  They are already paying Lee Smith (and likely Knox) to be another blocker.

Who is the Chiefs run blocking FB?  The Rams? Cowboys?

The Bills might as well keep a horse and buggy driver on the roster.

Good for them and personally pleased it wasn’t during the anthem. Also I think also points to just how close these guys are to be able to want to do that together at onetime. This team is a very close not group and will help to stick together during the season. JMO

None of those guys will be on the roster tomorrow night.

So I have zero issues with players kneeling as long as its not during the anthem. I am a veteran and have a special hatred for those that will do anything but stand with one hand over there heart and hats removed etc.

But did you not notice they are all facing in the same direction?   Mecca....perhaps?!?
