  1. heck, even the mighty trent edwards was like 80% and about 250 yards in his first start if i remember correctly.

one thing to keep in mind - no one knew what the washington offense would look like without RG3, and they also were forced to prep for possibly playing RG3.

Cousins may end up good, but there are a lot of reasons to proceed with caution.

I agree. But considering the QB class of 2013 is weak and the Bills have to address their QB situation this might be their best option..
  2. The funniest part is if Cousins ever becomes a full time starter, watch him struggle to come close to the numbers Fitz puts up here. I love that Kirk freaking Cousins is treated like Joe Montana on this board.

    Where

Is he proven????? I am really tired of this buffalo. He played well against the browns. We suck, and we beat the browns.

The only guy that comes to mind right now that I would consider is Alex Smith. He started off slow in his career, but is playing much better. Guy has a 107 qb rating this year, per an nbc stat sunday night. And he still has a decade of football left.

Vs the saints last year he played like a monster. brees threw one, then alex threw one, Alex won.

What did the future hall of famer Kirk Cousins do vs a talented team, Atlanta. He threw 1 td and 2 ints. Eff him. He would suck big time here in Buffalo.

Lets get some proven winners in here. What is wrong with everyone?

I don't care who he played. For his first NFL start he completed 70% of his passes for 329 yards and had a QBR of 104. He 's everything the Bills would want in a QB. He's a big kid with a strong arm and has some mobility.

He grew up in Illinois and played at Michigan State so he should have no problem dealing with the weather here in Buffalo. If the Bills could get him for a 2nd rounder I would be all for it. It would give us our franchise QB and allow us to address the problem at LB with our first pick.

  3. I say they don't trade Cousins based on RG3's style of play that makes him susceptible to injury. Cousins mitigates the risk of extended periods of time with RG3 out of the lineup.

Cousins only played yesterday because it was Cleveland. Had it been a tougher opponent RG would have played.
  4. But you trust him to trade for the right one? Especially at that markup?

He could have had Wilson or Cousins in the 3rd but opted to trade up for a receiver who could be unemployed next season. Swallow your pride, admit your mistake and get Cousins in here. He may have only thrown 30 passes but thats 30 more than Geno Smith.
  5. That doesn't equate to "trade a top 5 pick for a guy we had rated as a 4th rounder 8 months ago, based on 30 or so new passes"

There's a difference between proactive/aggressive and desperate. I'm hoping the choice they make is aggressive, and not desperation. That's all.

considering Nix opted to go with Fitz rather than draft a guy from what could be the best quarterback class in NFL history leaves me little faith in him drafting our franchise qb.
  6. thats a sure way to not make the playoffs for another decade. quick, the fans are upset - lets make choices to appease them, instead of win.

whats the old saying about if you listen to the fans you end up sitting with them? i know the track record at OBD has been poor but... buddy has been around for some pretty good qb picks. hopefully he sees a guy he likes and makes a move for him, and not just any move because the fans are desperate.

The fans aren't desperate they are angry. I think everyone agrees that getting a franchise quarterback is the top priority for next season. The Bills have to make a bold move whether that means reaching for a guy in the 1st round or trading it to Washington for Cousins. I'm a little biased because i liked Cousins last year and was hoping the Bills would grab him in the 3rd.
  7. To say Smith isn't much better than Fitzpatrick is ridiculous. The problems with Fitz couldn't be more evident than in the game against the Colts. He left alot of points out on the field. Smith may not be great but he can hit wide open receivers. People say Smith has it easy because the 9ers have a strong running game. So do we. Are defense isn't nearly as good but atleast they are showing signs of improving. I would be all for giving up a 3rd for Smith and using the draft to address our problems at linebacker.

  8. your kidding right ?.....levy certainly had absolutely zero control off the field, those guys stayed out late on weekend nights and drank themselves silly, which i personaly viewed on way too many occasions. no way they were sober by game time. i actually think todays athletes are much more behaved and resposible for their actions and what they put in their bodies. back in the "glory days" those guys got away with murder, the police, press and fans kept quiet...today, there's photos, videos, tweets and fan forums posted instantly online.

i have no problem with restaurants showing preferential treatment to whoever they want. heck, i'm a nobody and have gotten tables without a reservation at places i frequent regularly.

as far as the child disturbing the peace issue goes...it sucks, but happens all the time....obviously in a high end place like tempo, there is reasonable expectation to avoid it.....one of those adults should have taken the child outside for a bit and returned when calm. every situation is different, but if it truly was awful, i would have called for the manager. i don't care who it is, i'm not accepting that. if needed (manager refuses to do anything) i would have politely as possible chirped to the offending parents. who knows, maybe the manager winds up asking me to leave.

This wasn't a bar or night club. It was a classy restaurant that happens to be very expensive. I'm sure this player can afford to go there on a nightly basis but for the average joe like myself it is only for special occasions. Just thought he could have been a little considerate.

But polite enough to tell the whole story. C'mon man. You obviously told the story to shame him a bit.

Not really. Just venting. Like I said I respect the mans talent and I'm glad he plays for the Bills but I planned this dinner for weeks and it was ultimately ruined.
  9. Last night was my wifes birthday and to celebrate I took her to Tempo, the restaurant the Bills brass used to court Mario Williams. I had planned this for weeks and wanted it to be very special. Everything was going as planned until a certain member of the Bills came in with his wife/gf and a small child. He didn't have a reservation. I know this because i was seated behind the hostess and could hear the conversation. He told her who he was and who he played for and sure enough he got seated right next to me. There is a dress code at Tempo but apparently he didn't care. He was dressed in shorts, sneakers, a Bills sweatshirt that looked like it needed to be washed and he was wearing a baseball cap. I didn't have a problem with his attire but after about 15 minutes the little girl began screaming. This went on for the entire time he was there. The people in our section were obviously annoyed and began asking to be moved to another room. This didn't phase the player or the woman he was with as neither of them attended to the child. When the hostess seated me she asked if this was a special occasion and I told her it was my wifes birthday. When the other patrons were seated in my section I could hear her ask the same question. Most of the people were there celebrating a brthday or anniversary only to have it ruined by this players lack of class and consideration. I happen to admire this player for his talent on the field but I was disgusted by his behavior. Marv Levy taught his players to act like professionals on and off the field. God how I miss the glory days.

  10. Living here in the Pittsburgh area, Kelsay is in the situation to become the Steelers Gregg LLoyd back in the 90's

He never had big numbers until Kirkland and Kevin Greene arrived in Pittsburgh.

Kelsay can make a play here and there, I think the guy could become a Bryce Paup type player with the people around him

It's a little late for him to develop into that type of player considering he is 32 years old and in his 10th season.
