  1. Pettigrew would take pressure off of everyone on the offense. Insert Pettirgew and Trent has a safety valve. A guy who can catch underneath stuff and take it up the seam. This means less double coverage on Evans. It also opens up the run game. A pass catching tight end is just what the doctor ordered for this team.

Why is everyone so caught up with Pettigrew?

    Have you seen him play?

I do not see anything that would make me want to use #11 pick on him.

A TE at that spot needs to be a difference maker, not a good all around TE.

Why add another predominately blocker to our slew of TEs that we have?

Did you know he has avg speed? Caught 0 tds last year?

Some draft publication lines on him:

Possesses prototypical height and bulk for a NFL tight end. He's a good athlete but his straight-line speed is adequate-at-best for the position.

Only concern here is with his mental toughness. He tends to turn his motor on and off when he feels like it. He can get lazy and undisciplined at times

Pettigrew is a first-round talent, but probably won't go there because of character issues. Pettigrew allegedly assaulted a police officer on Jan. 20.

This is one of the big areas of concern regarding his pro potential. While smooth and fluid for his size, he lacks the speed necessary to consistently stretch the seam as a receiver.

I can't see the Bills adding another player with a troubled past similar to what Hardy was last year. We reached on Hardy because the owner and we the fans wanted a Big WR. None of the players who fit that (Kelly, Sweed or Hardy had any impact. And though it does take WRs a few years to accimate, did you really see anything out of Hardy that gave you a glimpse?)

Lets stick to Defense, take a DE, LB or even DT. PIck up a TE latter (popular on here is Coffman) on in FA.

  2. Would love to see some of this happen at least, but remember, even though we have cap room, Ralph won't spend it. On your FA list, Daniels is restricted, I believe, and Suggs said yesterday he's willing to take a home town discount to stay in B'more.

A more realistic offseason would be something like:

    1. Bills re-sign Crowell or someone similar (Vilma or Bart Scott, for ex.) at LB;

    2. Bills sign someone like Amani Toomer at WR and/or LJ Smith at TE or go after a C like the Ravens' C who's name escapes me, but that will be about it in FA;

    3. Bills reup Fast Freddy, Preston and Chambers (last two for depth) but let Jabari and possibly Ellison walk--if they're smart they'll also pay Peters (I give that a 50/50); and

    4. Bills then draft a DE in Rd 1 and possibly move up to take someone like Mack or Unger in late Rd 1 or Rd 2 if they haven't gotten a C in FA--if they have done that in place of getting a TE in FA, they do the same and go for a TE in Rd 2. Rest of draft becomes BPA.

Cheaply trying to plug the holes they have and hope that, plus Edwards and Lynch's improvement, along with a happy Peters and Schobel's return, is enough to carry them to the playoffs.

Your scenario make more sense in alot of ways. They won't sign vilma as he is in Middle and we have Poz.

I like the Ravens ctr as well as a top FA option, Jason Brown.

They will let Greer go as they cannot afford him and probably Ellison.

Id take Crowell over any other backer out in FA, excpet maybe Scott.

If the go DE in round 1, how can they afford to keep Kelsay? So they will likely cut him.

I can't see them taking Raji as they have strouds contract, which he wants to re=neg and just signed Kyle Williams

to extension, even though its not huge money, still substantial.

Not big on Pettigrew, as he is best TE, but not the gamebreaker for the 11th pick overall.

Rather take a shot in round two=three on one.

If we don't get Brown, love to see them take Caldwell of Alabama as he is toughest of college center lot.

we still need a FA receiver to help as Hardy won't be back for awhile and didnt look to be all the impressive

    when he was healthy.

  3. I think we can pick up a center in FA or 3rd round of draft. I would prefer to see us go DE, then go Coffman if he's still there, wouldnt even be uspet if we move up and get Coffman.

Ideally, I would like to see the FO explore a trade with Cle for Winslow so we can focus on DE, LB, OL in draft.

The improvement in the run game after Preston took over, had nothing to do with him but more to do with Peters finally playing like he can and Dockery stepping up some. Most of their big runs were on the left side, NOT up the middle. As a matter of fact, I thought that Edwards had changed his # to 75 as Preston had been pushed back into him so much by DTs.

  4.

The biggest blunder we made was letting go of Pat Williams. This had more to do with a change in philosophy then money in my opinnion and I see it as a mistake.

It was ALL about money. They had Williams Schoebel and Jennings all coming up as F/As. They chose to back the wagon up to Schoebel. Jennings was the right call as he was good, but injury prone and has continued as such. Williams was a colossal mistake as they should have made him their #1 priority and not Schoebel.

  5. Our opinions differ, and it obviously won't change. What I'm saying is Jackson and Omon cannot get it done and our run game would be bad, allowing defense t key in on the WRs. We need both Lynch and Jackosn. I'm not denying Boldin's presence wouldn't bolster our offense, but the pros/cons of the trade of Lynch for Boldin favour Lynch in my honest opinion.

I value RBs much higher than WRs. Pure and simple.

So to answer your original thread question, "Would you trade Lynch for Boldin?" In a word: No.

    I agree with you.

Alpo=dog just wants to make himself sound like he is the gm and knows what he is talking about, which he doesn't.

Let him have his dream as Fantasy Football GM.

  6. All I said was that your post about Bills running 52% of time when they had K-Gun offense and Thurman was lame because it had little to do with this topic...

I dont care if you run 70% or 30%...its not indication of effectiveness...percentages have nothing to do with success is my only point, and running 52% of the time is low to begin with...

You also have a much higher yards per attempt in the passing game than the run game, so even if you run more doesnt mean it is your bread and butter either...

wait...its lame because it had little to do with the topic?

    who brought it up?

Yeah, cuz Jim Kelly's teams never threw the ball, ever. We need to run the ball, because we haven't had a decent WRing corps since the 90's.

  7. Whoa......52% to 48%. So, it was a balanced attack, and that's assuming that you are telling the truth. I remember Andre and Lofton running into the endzone many times, along with Thurman out of the backfield. So, in all, yeah, the Bills threw the ball a ton. Especially considering that the Bills were killing the clock many times because they were totally dogging the opponent.

That attack was evenly balanced, which means the PASS was just as important to them as the RUN.

    Look that up Thurman.

NO kidding THE pass is just as important. Tt was evenly balanced and thats the point. You were the one stating that you only run the ball because the receivers suck. Thats not true. Good teams are evenly balanced which both you and alpo dawg don't seem to understand. If you doubt that Im telling the truth, look it up yourself clown.

  8. Yeah, cuz Jim Kelly's teams never threw the ball, ever. We need to run the ball, because we haven't had a decent WRing corps since the 90's.

You have to run the ball in Buffalo when your WR's suck. Moulds had a good opposite one year, and Peerless turned out the be a fluke.

Funny that passing the ball never seemed so damn scary until Jim Kelly and the boys were all washed up.

I guess you missed the pt. as you always do. By the way, the Bills SB teams of 1990-94 ran the ball more than they passed it, even with Kelly, Reed, Beebe, Lofton, etc. They ran over 52% of the time. Look it up Thurman!

  9. Sorry man, I hate this logic. What happens if Payton Manning goes down in Week 2? Should INDY be trying to trade with NE to get Cassel or Brady as insurance? You cant pass up a chance to get an ELITE every down player at a skill position like WR just to have insurance at an easily filled position like RB...

One, RB is the easiest position to replace...look around the NFL, they constantly find producers in late rounds or even undrafted at RB...heck, look at Jackson in Buffalo. Two, Oman I think can be a capable backup who never got to show what he can do. Three, even if Oman isnt, we can find another backup in the draft or FA market that could fill in nicely if that was case.

It would much easier to find a competent backup also becasue our Passing game now would command much more respect which in turns opens up the ground game.

Boldin averages 3 missed games a year. Do you really think RW will rip up his contract and give him a new one and have your two WR's make that kind of money on a team that needs to be able to run the ball in Buffalo to be successful? please.

  10. I love Boldin and this trade is a feasible one considering how long running backs last. But this is Buffalo. Let's build a team for Buffalo. Right now, we have a top 5 running back combo. Let's finish the line, run the ball 60% of the time (and a 60-40 split with Lynch and Jackson), and run play action with at least a shot every quarter down field. That's how we can become a good team again.

You imply that the Bills know what play action is. When was the last time they even ran a play action play?

  11. I think Boldin has every right to get upset. Just goes to show he wants the ball in his hands for his team, he wants to make a play for them. I see nothing wrong with a guy wanting to be on the field on a game winning drive, especially Boldin! I like that fire in a guy, send him our way, I'll gladly take that on my team. Id love nothing more then to see Lee Evans heated for not being on the field on a game winning drive. I wouldnt call him a baby I call him a guy wanting to make a play for his team to go to the Super Bowl.

Are you serious? Its one thing to want to be on the field for your team, its another that in the most important drive in the Franchise's history to be on the sidelilne screaming obsentities and threatening the OC who is standing next to the head coach. Its childless, selfish and disruptive. Reminiscant of TO in SF and Scotty Pippen in the playoff game when Toni Kukoc took the last shot and Pippen took himself out and sat on the bench to pout, as Kukoc made the shot. I live in Phoenix so I get to see and hear about Boldin everyday. He is a great receiver and warrior, but.......he is a typical Rosenhous client who puts himself above the team and even though he moaned about a contract two years ago and they resigned him to a new contract, now wants another one. He wants Fitzgerald money and he is not in Fitz's category. In addition, he is injury prone, just check out how many games he has missed the last 4 seasons. The Bills will never trade for him and give him the huge salary he wants. Say what you want, but he was jealous that Fitz was getting all the balls and TDs.

  12. Sign Birk, we won't have to wait 10 games for a running game to appear. Edwards could step up in the pocket. Locker room leadership....priceless.

Polian will sign him before we do, though.

I agree, either he or Jason Brown should be priority #1 in Free Agency. though Browns natural position is Guard. Birk might command too much $ as the top O/L man available though.

  13. He wasn't? Watch more, listen to ESPN less. Jenkins was good to start the year, and as the season wore on, he folded down the stretch. He became neutralized by the middle-end of the season, and was easily pushed around in the jets 3-4 scheme, leading to questions about whether or not he's suited to be a nose tackle. As Far as Rogers goes. Rogers had a terrible start to the year, and took him time to adjust. He played better as the season wore on. Push comes to shove I'd take Rogers over Stroud. Jenkins ehh not so much.

It has nothing to do with ESPN. Unlike yourself, I watch more than just the Bills games. Rogers has 30 more tackles, but that position is not always about tackled, but you still need to look at that.

  14. I could be wrong, but I think I remember before we got Stroud that it was understood by him and his agent, that he would get his deal re-worked. I haven't heard anything at all this year or off-season, but do any of you remember this, and if it's true, will it be a problem?

He was not the player that either Kris Jenkins or Shaun Rogers were and they both were acquired for the same price draft choice wise.

  15. Steve,

All you did was make a fantasy list of who you want on the Bills.

Do you really think that Hayneworth, Peppers, Ray Lewis and Suggs will help us??? please, no kidding.

When was the last time we forked over huge money like it would take to get them here??

Maybe Spikes? Doesn't happen often, keep dreaming.

Have you ever watched Leonard Pope play?? I live in Az, see him all the time......Big, no speed, can only

catch jump balls, not much of blocker for his size. Pass.

Why would Kurt Warner, who will be in Top 5 for MVP want to come to Buffalo to back up Trent??

Do you really think that?? Please tell me you Don't.

  16. He's not a failure because he doesn't take the blame and admit he makes idiotic calls, he's a failure because he makes idiotic calls.

I mean seriously, think about that play. 22 seconds left and he overrules the O coordinator to call a running play up the gut. HE doesn't get the play in on time so they end up rushing to the line and snapping the ball with 1 second on the play clock. Aftter Jackson runs ahead for 3 yards there were about 17 seconds left on the play clock.

So now, you had 17 seconds to get all of the offense off of the feild and the kicking unit on to it. Even if they were ready to do so (which they weren't), they would, at best, have 10 seconds to line up for the kick. Normally that would be fine, but there were 70 MPH wind gusts in the stadium. Wouldn't you want your kicker (who had already missed in the game) to take his time and get ready for the kick?

He's a failure because he fails to realize what works well in practice (against our defense), might not work as well a gainst the Pats*. Espesially when the wheather is that bad. He may be book smart, but he is dumb when it comes to things like that.

Your points may be taken a little more seriously if only you had a clue on how to spell!
