I think alot rush olb's in the 34 played DE in college and have alot of the same skill sets that Maybin APPEARS to have. IMO if we stay with 43, Maybin better get stronger and learn a couple of counter moves. If we go 34, he might be our rush olb.

IMO, he's either a 43 end or 34 olb. Since we ran 43, he lined up at end. Like many other posters, the more i think about the more i see us running the 34 D!

Probably mentioned before but didn't know Marty Schottenheimer head coach for west squad(east west shrine game). Mississippi's DE Greg Hardy on east roster, surprising! I would've thought the senior bowl for him.

Yeah, just saying 34 ends aren't rush ends like 43. Who knows, i don't think Schobel will be back and we have no other rush ends on roster. No matter what we do, there are holes to be filled!

This came from Pat Kirwan, NFL.com. Not trying to argue with anyone here but just think both Stroud(6'6" 310) and Johnson(6'3" 290) have ideal size and ability slide outside in a 34 alignment. I realize they need to be strong at the point of attack and get some push, just don't believe their main job is to rush the passer like 43 ends! Here are some 34 ends and there stats on some pretty good defenses: Jets #1 D- Ellis(6'5" 285) 7sacks, Douglas(6'2" 290) 1.5 sacks; Balt #3 D- Price(6'5" 290) 6.5 sacks, Ngata(6'4" 345) 1.5 sacks; Dallas #9 D- Spears(6'4" 309) 2.5 sacks, Olshansky(6'6" 315) 1.5 sacks. I'm not sure if Williams could put on 10lb and handle NT; might need to find thru draft or FA. Just think there is more talented 34 olb/hybrids(Maybin) then true 43 ends out there. Like to see us switch. I GUESS WE NEED BACKERS TOO!

Answer my question, who on here said it's ok to harm a human being? Also, can you become a police officer, firefighter or join the military with felonies? I personally don't think the NFL should allow a person who comitted a felony back in! Whether they like it or not, they are role models!! Could be wrong but believe main job of the ends in 34 defense is to neutralize the tackles and allow OLB's to rush QB!

I'm just another arm chair coach/GM/scout etc... Obviously we need to find an answer at QB. I like Brohm's potential and hope we go after Cambell but neither are a sure thing. After watching and being disappointed with Tebow/Pike/Snead, thought maybe LeFevour could be a possibility. I personally just don't see it. I certainly could be wrong but just don't think he has it. Have a chance to see McCoy tonight but i'm more interested in watching McElroy. Watched him a few times this year and was really impressed. He reminds me of Brees. Like i said, i could be totally wrong, but check him out and see what you think! Blast away!
