  1. Edmunds was pretty terrible last year (injury aside his instincts for the position are awful) and was exposed in the pass game a lot..  He needs to ball out this year and turn a corner.

Can you just become better instinctually if you don't have it?  What about learning how to take better angles and shoot gaps better?  He just isn't very good.  Don't mention the faux pro bowls.

Salvage this draft and get Rondale Moore.

Still waiting on this team to address the speed issue McBeane clamored about after getting killed by KC.

We are 1 injury away from being painfully slow at WR... this needs to be addressed but I fear it won't be..

  3. Initially I wanted ETN but I think that would be a bad pick... We recently spent 2 high-ish picks on RBs... We are not a running team... and ETN just doesn't seem that special to me.  He's got better speed than Moss and Singletary but I don't think that alone justifies his value at 30.

The biggest thing that will help the RBs is better blocking and run scheme.  No RB is good with crap run blocking... ETN would be average with the blocking our RBs got last year..  It wouldn't move the needle at all.

I think it's Edge or CB at 30.  Outside shot at a sleeper WR pick.  I wouldn't mind O line if a stud T drops there.

I'm not sure JJ Watt is playing at that elite level now.

He was great as a younger player, but injuries have really taken their toll.

Even a somewhat diminished Watt is probably our best player in the front 7...  At least he plays hard and would be a leader... which we desperately lack.

  5. I know Wentz was terrible last year but people are kind of writing him off a little quick.  The Eagles were a tire fire the past 2 years and Wentz carried them in 2019 to the playoffs.  2020 was a disaster all the way around with the injuries and Wentz just looked horrible as well.  His decision making just seemed atrocious so I'm thinking he was just trying to do too much and he had little help...

Riech is a great coach and Wentz played his best under him.  Wouldn't surprise me to see Wentz have a pretty big year again.  Great Oline, Great RB, Top notch coaching.. he will be very good.

Just looked at Jonnu's stats, they were less than I expected.   My impression of Jonnu had been a physical athlete that could catch and block.  The stats show as you mention a tail off in usage in the passing game.  And in big games, little passing production.  The stats are having me backtrack a little.  What happened?

With Ertz, I'm afraid he may be damaged goods and that you would end up paying a premium for the name - because several of the lesser teams could use a name acquisition.

Tenn had injuries on the Oline and used Jonnu to block more once that happened.  I think he was criminally underused regardless.

I also like D Knox but in the role of the #2 TE.  R Gilliam is nowhere near a TE the Bills should be playing - we're contender status now - c'mon.  As for drafting a TE it usually takes several years to get a TE to the level wanted.

I would rather have Jonnu Smith the FA TE from Tenn than Ertz.  Jonnu would come over as less of a prima donna, better process guy, and by far a better run blocker.

Jonnu has less milage on him and seems a better fit for the role I would like to see the new TE take on, which would be about 5-7 targets a game and around the 4th option, and someone who takes blocking seriously.   Jonnu should cost less than Ertz, and if Kroft and L Smith are jettisoned the overall incremental expense would be a couple million.

Jonnu would be a nice get this offseason.  A physical freak in the pass game and good run blocker.. He had a great start last season but Tenn went away from him and used him to help block the 2nd half of the season.

  8. We are in the time frame where you kind of have to go for it.  Once Allen's big deal comes in and starts hitting the cap for $40+ Million it's going to be tough to build a strong team on both sides of the ball.  They need to work to get under the cap now by cutting mediocre or dead weight players (mainly along both lines) and then allocate it for difference makers on the D line, other holes.  Draft/develop along the O line as well.. possibly restructure Morse.

Being conservative doesn't really get you anywhere, KC is going to re-tool and be back.  And we weren't particularly close to them this year..  Need a great draft and I'd like at least 1 top end FA signing on defense..(maybe Hendrickson)  - Hole fill with some mid range guys as well.

Todd Bowles got demolished in the regular season against KC. Why? Because he played a soft defense against them. They were not aggressive, they did not attack, they sat in bubbles waiting just as we do. Once Bowles allowed his players to attack and be aggressive, his defense thrived. He was very aggressive, blitzed quite often, from various places all over the field. Rushed one, dropped one, sometimes dropped everyone and yet his front four still got pressure. Another thing I noticed as well was that when Clyde Edwards Helaire, Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill got the ball they’d pay for it. Sometimes 2 if not 3 defenders would lay a nasty hit on them just to let them know what was coming every time they got the ball. They also took Hill away, even when Hill went into motion Tampa’s back seven automatically adjusted and mirrored his movements, quickly. You can’t passively sit back against good QBs like Mahomes, you have to create pressure, otherwise they’ll pick you apart.

They barely blitzed in the Superbowl... their front 4 got pressure almost as soon as the ball was snapped.  That and their LBs are 10x better than Edmunds and Milano..  I think they sent 5 guys a handful of times but that was it.  Injury and reshuffling on the Oline really hurt KC.

Bills blitzed a few times and Mahomes would just avoid pressure and complete passes to wide open Hill or Kelce everytime.  Milano had a great opportunity again and whiffed.

  10. Bad vs the run, bad vs the pass... doesn't make impact plays.  The MLB experiment failed... he doesn't have the instincts for the position and maybe doesn't have them for any position.  Made the Pro-Bowl by default due to injuries this year.

We are the worst in the league vs TE due to a huge issue at MLB and Edmunds takes a lot of the blame.

He is what he is at this point, he isn't going to suddenly turn it on and get better at play recognition and instinctual play.  Like what was mentioned earlier in this thread, he's just an athlete...  Not a horrible pick by Beane but he just hasn't developed.  I don't see how you sign him to big money after his rookie deal..

Allen wasn't the reason we lost, but I think the Bills likely win if the QBs switched teams. Mahomes is just that good. Still can't be anything but thrilled to have Allen as the QB here though.

Mahomes is a great player but imagine Josh with zero pressure and one of the GOAT TEs and fastest WR in the NFL.. I mean Mahomes is just in the best QB situation maybe ever.

  12. Our best return was when Roberts fumbled it in the endzone and took a knee.... I hate taking it out of the endzone.. just take the 25 yard line and let our Offense go to work.  I feel like terrible teams with no offense should be running it out so often..
