Expensive? This area isn’t even close to expensive. You can buy a decent home here for 100k, a beautiful one for 350k and a literal mansion for a million (see Brandon Beane’s house). Sure, if you really hunt you can find select markets that are cheaper in the US. The vast majority of US real estate markets are far higher than the Buffalo area.

Home prices are lower but the property tax is the highest in the country.  That is a real cost.

What does it say about the current state of the Bills WR position that we would actually see a massive improvement if we saw those numbers out of a WR next season.

150 more yards than what Zay just had as our leading WR... 10 years later in a pass happy NFL.

Completely embarrassing production from that position.  Bring TO back!

  3. Sometimes even the best WRs don't get separation on a given play, that is when you need a guy to go up and just get the ball which is what Harry does as good as anyone in this draft.

This guy has a huge catch radius, is 6-4 with 4.5 speed, insane hands, great after the catch as well..  He just looks the part of a top outside WR.  He is the opposite of Kelvin Benjamin.

DK is also intriguing to me but carries more risk.  I don't see McBeane risking it at 9.

His agility numbers are very similar to Randy Moss and Metcalf has much better explosive numbers, vertical and broad jump.  Tall guys dont excel in the shuttle or 3 cone that's why many including Calvin Johnson decline them.  People blasting Metcalf and tout Harry when he ran much slower and didn't test his agility to protect his draft status is funny.  As an outside Metcalf has prototypical size.  His 40 shows when you watch him.  He has another gear on deep passes.  He routinely has seperation on his intermediate and beyond routes.  I want to enhance Allen's biggest gift.  His arm. Give him a rare deep threat talent.  That opens things up for all the other aspects of the passing game.

Moss had insane production at Marshall.. he was a freak on the field...  What has Metcalf done besides run a nice 40?

I think it’s gonna be hard to pass on a DL at pick 9. You’re basically getting a top 5 talent at DL in this draft at 9.  If Murray, Haskins, and Devin White go before us as predicted, one of Bosa, Q Williams, Allen, Gary, Oliver, and Wilkins will be there.  Those guys are top 5 picks in almost any other year.

Agreed, it's one of those guys if we stay put.

I get it.  Guys are concerned about the bust rate and sure the WR bust rate in the 1st is high, but so are other positions.  When you are picking in the top 10 you are banking on UPSIDE to a degree and maximization of potential.  In rounds 2-3 it's mostly BPA and high functionality.  Upside is a plus in rounds 2-3.

The Bills, that is US, NEED a WR so why not draft the one with the most upside and potential at 9 IF he's there.  Give him 5 years to work things out and see what happens.  His potential and upside is unmatched in this draft.  This is not to say that other areas on the team go unaddressed.  We can still address other areas via FA and the draft.  I still say if he is there at 9, which IMO he won't be, you take Metcalf.  I don't want mere functionality at WR.  That's Zay Jones.  We have that.  I want massive potential and upside.  That's DK Metcalf.

I don't think it's smart use of the 9th overall pick.. Reminds me of 2014 trading up for Watkins which was a huge mistake.  We could of stayed at our pick and got OBJ in the first round.  Or waited later in the draft to get wayyy better value picks in Cooks, Davante Adams, Allen Robinson, Jarvis Landry, etc.  This WR draft may look like that year.

Maybe you only do it in playoff games, and each team only gets one review, just to keep it from becoming a zoo.

This might be the best idea yet..  Regular season games have tons of missed calls, some bigger than others but you play the next week and usually they even out over the season..  In the playoffs, 1 missed call is huge and can end your season.

Each team can challenge any call or non call 1 time in the playoff game - to cover anything from missed PI to an incorrect roughing the passer etc.  They keep their regular challenges of was it a fumble, catch, etc.

Wouldn't drastically change much aside from a few minutes for possibly an extra challenge.

How could we even be certain they would of taken Mahomes if they took a QB that year? Why because he lit the NFL up a year later? Because the Chiefs traded to take him at the Bills spot? Deshaun Watson was still available and no one could really predict Mahomes would set NFL records in his second season.

Even Pegula himself wanted Mahomes..  along with a lot of people on this very board and myself..  He had that IT factor that jumped out at you if you watched him play.  And obviously Andy Reid liked him so much to trade up to get him.

Unless Allen goes into the Hall of Fame, this is going to get brought up forever.

Because scouting staffs rarely turn over in the spring before the draft. If McDermott was set on wanting Beane to come in as the GM and could not get Carolina to let him go until after the draft, then it leaves the Bills in sort of a pickle.

Drafting a qb in the first round is one of the most important decisions an organization can make. McDermott clearly did not trust Whaley to make that decision as he was immediately let go after the draft.

    - Maybe McDermott was not comfortable making the call on the qb as he was not out in the road scouting the quarterbacks all season. I like that he was able to set his ego aside and punt the major decision down the road a year when they had all their ducks in order.

    - McDermott was a brand new coach and involved in free agency and coming up with OTA practice schedules. He had spent a ton of time assembling a staff and getting familiar with the organization. To think McDermott would have had enough time to do a proper evaluation of the qb class would be foolish. If he trusted Whaley and the scouts, a qb would have been selected but that was not the case.

    - And let’s just say McDermott went ahead and pulled the trigger on a qb in 2017. What do you think the media would have said when Whaley was fired right after the draft. The media would have had a field day poking fun of McDermott for the way he handled the situation.

    - Additionally, I believe McDermott feels strongly about team culture. He clearly did not like the culture that was present and needed time to get the environment he envisioned. I strongly believe McDermott preferred bringing his rookie qb into a situation in which the culture was good. He would want an optimal situation for the rookie to grow and mature and having a bunch of players that were going to be shipped out might not be the best situation for a young player to grow.

For all all of the above reasons and more, it just was not the right time to draft a quarterback in 2017. So McDermott did the next best thing and that was to trade down and collect more picks so that they had ammunition to go after a qb the following year when their organization was in order.

Whaley wasn't just a scout, he was the GM... no reason he shouldn't of been fired once McDermott was brought in in January or even once the season ended.  There was over 3 1/2 months before the draft.. everyone knew we needed a QB, he didn't have to waste a whole year to see that.

Team culture changes when you win, it wouldn't of ruined anybody who wasn't strong enough anyway.  We had way more offensive talent that year anyway for a rookie QB.  Way better than what we had this year especially on the line.

The pecking order has McDermott at the top anyways.  This is his team.

Does anybody think Mahomes would've embraced Buffalo the way Allen has? If we had drafted him, and he still somehow developed here the way he did under Reid, we'd probably have been forced to trade him a year before his rookie deal was up because he'd want to test the market.

Why wouldn't he?  And who says Josh wouldn't want out of Buffalo in a few years...

I saw some numbers yesterday that showed that Ivory had essentially the same number of carries for a loss as McCoy, and I was stunned. Obviously McCoy dances in the backfield more than he would on Dancing with the Stars...but It's definitely an o-line problem.

What about avg lost yards on those?  It seems when McCoy dances and loses yardage its -3, -5 yards.  Ivory maybe -1, -2...  But it seemed to happen way more with McCoy watching this season so I guess that is surprising still.

I think we will be looking for a Goodwin in the offseason.

I still feel that a big physical basketball player WR that can actually catch a ball in traffic would be very helpful to this team.

I'd prefer guys that can actually play the position but I get your point.  Any good outside WR should be able to go up and get the ball.

  12. Syracuse just has the worst looking offense I've seen, what is there identity?  Take turns going 1 on 1 which is the easiest thing in the world to defend.

You could see they had more athletes than UB but UB knew what to do on offense and where to attack and move the ball around.  SU looks like 5 guys at the local YMCA..
