  1. We don't have a starting caliber outside WR on the roster unless Shorter becomes something...

IMO we need to trade up for BTJ or hope AD falls to us... I'm not in love with Ladd..  Nice player but kind of more of the same and yes I know he played a lot outside in college but he's undersized and hurt a lot.  I don't see how that gets better in the big League..

  2. Josh hasn't been comfortable, his deep ball % has to be awful.  Diggs isn't separating as much and when he does Josh misses him.  It's hard to be confident in Davis since he has stone hands.  Same with Knox.  Kincaid is a bright spot but is still learning the game.  Shakir is OK.  We need a dynamic WR badly.  Diggs should maybe move to the slot after this year..

I would agree with you if McD was an offensive minded coach and the Bills had committed a majority of their draft picks and FA signings to the offense.  But McD is a defensive coach and the Bills clearly have pushed more resources to the defense over the last few seasons then the offense.  So in a game where the O is struggling, which happens even to the best offenses, I expect the Bills defense to carry the load, especially in a home game.

The only reason the D didn't give up more then 27 points was that the Bengal's didn't need to press.  After racing out to a 14 - 0 lead they were able to control the game.  When the Bills O finally got off the floor and had a nice TD drive to cut the lead to 14 - 7 the D promptly gave up a long, time consuming FG drive to again take a 2 score lead.  Then after the Bills had cut the Bengals lead to one score in the 3rd quarter the Bills D gave up a long time consuming TD drive that put them back up by 2 TD's late in the 3rd quarter.

The offense did not play well and was far from potent.  But they had no TO's until a meaningless late game INT.  The fact remains that the D was putrid that game and IMO bears the majority of the responsibility for the Bills losing .

Look I know the D wasn't good but the offense scored 3 points after half-time and 10 for the game.  They stunk up the joint just as much.

Man, we're really going to spend all season talking about how great this offense is statistically.  Then the postseason will roll around and this offense is going to struggle against a high level defense like last year.

Then the offseason will be about adding more talent while the young guys continually fail to progress and contribute.  They really replaced Daboll with the offensive equivalent of Fraizer.

Can pretty much see this playing out exactly..

  5. This is good for Buffalo, I don't care what the negative nancy's say.

It's not crap. There's tread on the tires (which is why he wasn't desired in free agency). Given age and recent injuries, each new season brings added risk of diminishing effectiveness. His spot was an opportunity to get younger, cheaper, and perhaps better (if early draft pick). Alas, McDermott opts for recycling what's comfortable.

We still have Benford who will continue to develop and possible replace him or Hyde soon.  We can still draft a S as well and don't need to throw someone who isn't ready into the position..
