Martz reportedly wants to be Bills coach
tonyd19 replied to Reddy Freddy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hire Billick to be the head coach and retain martz to be the OC....I'd be good with that -
Hello.....what do you think Fitz is there for....he's been through WARS!!! Sarcasm rules.

How Bad is Buffalo if 10mill per year won't get it done?
tonyd19 replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Name me one coach right now making 8 figures a season. 10 million and part ownership is a crazy offer, way higher than any other coach is making and way more than any of these guys are worth.. Any coach would be just plain stupid to turn down that kind of offer, especially in this economy. If that truly is the offer, you have to tip your cap to Wilson, who is truly trying to turn this thing around. Coaches salaries 2008. http://www.coacheshotseat.com/SalariesNFLCoaches.htm -
I like to joke around but I agree. I think if we can show a coach these things. 1) We will pay the coach well. 2) We will spend the money neccesssary to make the team consistently competitive. 3) We will put serious money into scounting and player development. 4) The coach will have complete control over the team. 5) We will help the coach build an attitude of winning. 6) We will spend the money to bring in free agents. Than good coaches will come here.

He is one spot ahead of re-hiring Juron on my list.

How the conversation went. Bill Cowher (BC): Hello? Ralph Wilson (RW): Mr. Cowher, this is Ralph Wilson, the owner of the Buffalo Bills. BC: Are you guys still in the NFL?? RW: Uhhhhh....yes Bill, yes we are. BC: What can I do for you Mr. Wislon? RW: Bill, how would you like to be the head coach of the Buffalo Bills next season? I could be persueded into paying you as much as 3 million dollars a year and you only have to pass all personel moves through me...When can you sign? BC: Ummm, uhhhhhh, well Ralph I gotta say, I don't think that move would work for me right now. I like the city of Buffalo I mean it is close to Pittsburg and I could go get those Rothlis-burgers I like so much, and you have great fans, but you have a marketing guy running your football operation, no linemen, no linebackers, no quarterback, and I'm still not sure your still considered an NFL team? RW: Bill let me level with you. The fans up here are crazy! Thank god I can hide out in Michigan. They're about to string me up! I'm desperate!!!!!!!!! How about 5 million a year and your own parking space? BC: No. RW: 7 million and you can pick your own staff....except special teams coach? BC: Uhhh, I still have to say no. RW: OK, Bill what are the chances of getting you to be the next head coach of thre Buffalo Bills? I'll pay whatever it takes. BC: I'd say....like 1 in a million. RW: So your sayin there's a chance!!!!!!!! Old Russ will sell 50,000 more tickets with this info, Thank you Mr. Cowher. By the way the offer has been withdrawn. Were going for Jim Haslett....You know he used to play linebacker here! By the way, he coaches for the true love of the game and a 1 year $500,000 contract. Not like some of the greedier coaches out there...But who am I to judge. BC: Ok thank you for the phone call Mr. Wilson. Goodbye. RW: You too Bill.....and good luck in Dallas next year!

Go sell crazy someplace else. Were all stocked up here. -
Jesus, the guy made like 3 catches 2 years ago. He's a 6th round pick with average skills who can't break off of special teams and can't beat out three other receivers on a very bad football team. Give it a rest already.

How about Vermeil for GM?
-
Well if he wants to get back into coaching, it's not like the Colts are going to take him back, or the Patriots are going to fire Bellicheck for him. Point is, he has to go somewhere...Why not Buffalo. Same thing with Cowher.

Best Plan yet!!!! by Jason LaCanfora (NFL Channel)
tonyd19 replied to Craiger93's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't care what the coach's credentials say. It's an NFL head coaching job. There is only 30 or so of them in the world. It's like Field of Dreams for a gm, coach, and quality free agents.....If you pay them, they will come. If a coach is "not interested" in a good paying head coaching position in the NFL than he needs to have his head examined, and so does this Canadian columnist. -
I'd prefer Cowher based on his ability to build teams who compete in bad weather, but if we had Dungy I wouldn't mind. Vick is done as far as being significant in the NFL, but if he came to Buffalo, I would stop watching. That guy is a sociopathic a-hole. I'm all for second chances, but not for people who have a complete disregard for life and kill for fun, human or otherwise.
-
Don't screw around. Give us Cowher or Dungy. Nobody else is worth it or will make an impact. All the rest are past their prime, not worth the money, or overrated. Including Billick and Gruden.

If Josh Reed was oil, he couldn't seperate from water.
-
If they don't like to hear it, the o-line should open some holes and stop the opponents defensive line from beheading whoever is behind center. If Trent does not like to hear it, he should grow a pair and learn how to throw the ball 20 yards without being wildly irratic. If Dick doesn't like to hear it, he should find a way to start getting his team prepared to compete every week, and stand up to the sh*tty front office and tell them to get this team some f**king help. At this point there should not be one Bills fan on the planet who gives a flying f*ck if they don't want to hear it. Because we sure as hell don't want to see it anyomore.

Could Edwards be the Franchise guy with new coaching?
tonyd19 replied to PJBrown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree. I think we continue to hire inexperienced coaches and offensive coordinators who have not developed quarterbacks and put them in situations where they have every opportunity to be successful. It's not that the coaches were bad, it's that the teams are. No depth + porous offensive line for 10 years = poor quarterback play and a lot of losses. Maybe all those coaches you mentioned are so good because they learned what NOT to do in Buffalo. Trent Edwards - He has the talent. He's in a very similar situation to what Losman was under. Very difficult to be successful with the dysfunction of the entire organization around him. I say lets go with Trent the rest of this year and see if he can bounce back. Really we do not have anything to lose because Hamdin and Fitz certainly are not ever going to lead this team, but Edwards still has a chance to. -
Then there is the situation with Nic Harris
tonyd19 replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LOL yea we can swarm our defense like a bunch of angry bees attacking a freight train...BUZZZZZZZ!!! I think if Harris was the next Ray Lewis he would have been moved to linebacker in college because his coaches would have made the switch then. Also, come on guys, he's a 5th round pick...How good do you really think he is going to be (He wasn't even that good of a safety in college, let alone the NFL). There are exceptions, but really. I don't want to be a buzz kill (get it...buzzz) but Harris is obviously another special teams guy who will never be an impact player. -
As someone who calls Las Vegas home, and as much as I think the NFL would do very well here. It is more likely that Ralph Wilson lives another hundred years, or better yet, that Josh Reed is able to get separation from a DB than any NFL team moving to Vegas anytime soon. "if Josh Reed was water, he couldn't separate from oil." Tony D

tonyd19 replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The coaches want him at 235 because that is his natural weight and he would be too slow to play S of LB at 260. Guys who play NFL linebacker well are 250 to 260 and are stronger and as fast as Harris is at 235, because their body types dictate that they can effectively carry that extra muscle. That is the difference. -

tonyd19 replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For Buffalos sake I hope you are right and I am wrong. I just cannot think of one linebacker....ever ....that was a safety in college and became a good linebacker in the NFL (BTW this is anyone's cue to prove me wrong). Buffalo has a better chance of converting Maybin to an impact player at LB than Harris in my opinion...but I hope I am wrong. -

BTW are you seriously comparing Jamal Lewis to Nic Harris?
