  1. I like Watkins already, we need some more players with a swagger. Like to see Stevie still here with him so he can school him on getting off the line but Sammy is gonna feed off of this.

Let just see how many TD's Sammy can get going over the deep middle.

  2. I don't think the Pettine loss will hurt at all, considering that his run defense was weak and inconsistent. It seemed that the teams that wanted to, could run at will on the Bills last season. Yes, we probably won't have as many sacks, but if we can shore up the run defense, Pettine will be long forgotten.

If we shore up the run D I think we can make the playoffs. Don't forget Detroit played with a 5-2 last year . With Spikes I think the run D will be better. Kiko will be able to chase down more plays from the outside which better suits his skills.

I think Searcy will start at SS. He made some plays last year.

Cant wait till preseason to see how it shakes out.

I looks forward to seeing this D this preseason. It should tell us much.

  3. Seems like Vick is saying all the right things so far but it will be interesting to see what goes down in the Jets training camp. IMO Vick will fight for the job. What really scares me about the Jets is CJ2K. He might be motivated to have a good season. And the Bills better be prepared for the Jets to try and run the ball .

NE will still be tough as long as Brady is throwing the rock. And they got Revis, and Will Smith from the Saints. Still see them winning the division.

  4. When I was in my 20's and 30's I loved going to games at the Ralph. Looked forward to seeing them play liveeach week . Meeting new people and the tailgating is wonderfull.

But now that I am 50yrs old I rather stay home and watch the games for the most part. Or going to a sports bar with a huge screen. No gas, not sitting in traffic, no drunks to deal with. Don't have the free time to spend all Sunday out there like I used to. That's the main reason I guess. I try to go to at least one game a year. But that might change if the team was better.

Economics plays a part as well these days.

  5. I agree. I think they need to give him the ball more, just not up the middle. He's the kind of back who the defense can stop a few times in a row but then the next time he'll break one to to outside for 70 yards. Last year we didn't have much of a passing game to make the defense not load up the box and he was also hurt most of the year. If the defense can start having to worry about the short and long passing game, CJ will be able to bounce some big gains and in the open field very few players in the NFL can catch him. As always, everything depends on EJ.

Lots of people miss this. Teams were loading the box last year when he was in the game. They seems like they knew he was getting the ball based on our sets.

Hopefully Watkins, Woods and Goodwin can get them out of that box. But like you said it depends on EJ if he can make teams respect the passing game.

Would like to see C.J. return some punts in some situations.

  6. I love the idea but who would pay for the cleanup of the old Beth Steel site? It's a good idea tho.

If they are going to built it on the waterfront there is plenty of space in Downtown Buffalo for them to build it and they would not have to clean up a major toxic dump to do so.

Adding a brand new stadium next to a already rebuilding harborside area would be a better and cheaper option .

  7. Several other threads are talking about how many games Buffalo will win, playoffs, Vegas odds, etc. And it got me thinking about our division, and the way NE is the usual winner. At some point, that has to end. It just won't go on and on forever, so what would happen to spark that change, that shift in the division? Brady aging out. I hate the guy, but I respect his game. He has been a great QB for the past decade plus. But age has to catch up with him. It always does. The question is if happens this year, the next, or when? I searched and came up with this article. It says 37 is the average age an NFL QB breaks: https://www.profootb...-of-decline-qb/ Tom Brady turns 37 in August.

This may sound weird but I wants the Bills to win the division with Brady still around. This way the Bills will earn respect big time.

The Pats run will end soon enough, all great runs do.

  8. Good teams get good calls. I seem to remember a WR getting mauled in the Houston comeback to Bflo's benefit and I'm sure Bills fans weren't bitching.

Seattle was allowed to man handle WRs last year. When the Bills are good, the calls will even out.

Don't forget that Don Beebe stepped out of bounds during that Houston comeback game and I remember one night on Monday night football during the Super bowl run vs the Dolphins the Bills got a call that favored them that could have changed the game.

Good teams do get the benefit of doubt. Bad teams have to earn it so to speak.

Been going on for years. Nothing new here.

  9. just think about this for a sec guys.

Both a very hurt C.J. and not 100 percent Freddie BOTH gained over 900 yds last year behind an average line.

If C.J. stays healthy outside the normal bumps and bruises and if Freddie can remain healthy and the line with all the draft picks can upgrade this Oline to above average we WILL be able to run the ball.

EJ won't have to be Tom Brady. all he has to do is play point guard and get these skill players the rock and move the chains. I think this is why we got Watkins.

Teams are going to have to respect him out the gate. This should open up the field for Woods, Goodwin, Chandler and Williams.

All EJ has to do is hit the open man. Can he do it? We all shall see but the Bills have faith in him that he can do it . I have a wait and see approach about it because I'm not sold on E.J.

But if he does I see no reason why we can't make the playoffs this year.

  10. Can someone who hasn't had much grape kool-aid please explain how the Bills' situation is any better now than it was five years ago from avoiding more 6-10 or 7-9 seasons?:

2009: The Bills, with an unproven young QB with speculative potential (Trent Edwards), feel that they are one big player away on offense from making the playoffs and sign the top WR in the NFL: Terrell Owens.

2014: The Bills, with an unproven young QB with speculative potential (E.J. Manuel), feel that they are one big player away on offense from making the playoffs and sign the top WR in the NFL draft: Sammy Watkins.

Looking at this logically, the Bills' situation could potentially be much worse in 2014 than it was in 2009 since we traded away our most proven WR (Stevie Johnson) and we will not have a #1 draft pick next season. Please discuss.

    Hey I love Koolaid. lol

but seriously tho. Yes a legit WR allows you to balance out the offense. If you really watch last year Teams stacked up on the run vs. the Bills on early downs.

They dared EJ to bet them with just an average WRs. And an average line.

Watkins even as a rookie has so much talent that teams are going to be forced to defend the whole field. This will open up things for Freddie and C.J.

Plus they hopefully upgraded the line. I think both Richardson and Kouandijio (at RG, RT) will be starting sooner or later.

If the lineman play and EJ improves as a 2nd year player this offense should have close to 1700 on the ground and 3000 in the air. they do that they will be able to score some points.

But Watkins is the key to our offense now. Yall will see , he IMO is that good.

  11. for the first time ever I got another team's website as one of my favs.

Yes it the Browns because of Petine, Manziel. Prolly gonna follow them as though the season. Because I want to see how Mr. Football if I was right in believing that the kid can do it.

The Browns are doing what they can to limit the pressure he is going to be under and I like what they doing so far. They have the right so take what you can get and be happy.

  12. Gragg will emerge this year.

I think the Bills brass are hoping Gragg or Moeki (sp) will emerge.

They know what they have in Chandler. He lead the team in catches last year. So he is pretty good, not great but good none the less.

The Bills have plenty of weapons. it's on the coaching staff to draw up plays for these guys. It's really on EJ to make it happen.

They have put alot on EJ . They have lots of faith in him at OBD.

    We shall see.

  13. Anyone else unhappy that Whaley did not see fit to take a late round flyer on a QB? There were lots available, including many that were expected to go sooner, such as Mettenberger, Murray, McCarron, and Boyd. I think this is a decision we will regret. Once again, OBD neglecting the most important position in sports.

    Not unhappy at all.

Unlike some people on the board I like our backups. Thad didnt play bad IMO when he did play and Tuel played better than anyone expected vs the Chiefs last year.

Really tho I'm more worried about EJ than our backups.
