  1. That's just downright archaic. Chromosomes and genetics have absolutely nothing to do with gender. Gender is all about how a person feels deep down at any given moment. Its fluid and ever evolving.

Its absolutely barbaric that people like you continue to insist on gender specific names for babies and inflict traditional gender roles on innocent lives who haven't even left the womb. When names could be gender neutral and just serve as a placeholder until a human being has actually had the opportunity to discover their gender identity, why is identity forced upon beings at birth? Why should the presence or lack of a Y chromosome decide a person's entire life from the what color clothes they can wear, to what bathroom they can use, and what order they exit a sinking ship? By the way, the ship that's sinking....its society. Society is sinking because of patriarchal micro aggressors who refuse to accept that gender doesn't fit neatly into your pre-conceived notions. This is a modern day Nuremberg and your whole way of thinking is on trial. Think about that!

Its 2016, Tom. Time to get with the program!

Wow, I hope this is meant as satire...

  2. I'm from Buffalo, visit the area every year and love the team. That stated, the posters here are a microcosm of the people of the city and some of you are the most bitter folks I've ever seen (or read). It is not just this board, but an overall attitude of misery for many. Petty jealousy about how much money a player makes compared to what 'they' make. As much as I loathe Jerry Sullivan, he is representative of so many people back there. From my anecdotal viewpoint, I attribute it to a miserable economy, poor weather and a decade and a half of losing football in a community where it matters so much to their identity. I write this as an understanding of why it is so difficult to succeed and why I feel some people (like Marrone) may have a bad taste.

Contrast that with where I live, in San Diego, and while people love the Chargers, they aren't jumping off any bridges when they didn't make the playoffs, because, well, they live in San Diego!

  3. I think those who are upset feel that way because the draft is all the Bills have had to look forward to for the past 14 years. I love the direction that Whaley is taking the team. All I can say is that it's about time. I think this one is going to turn out good for us.

  4. I am a Bills fan because of my father as well. I'm 46 and have a vivid memory of attending a game at War Memorial Stadium with my dad, which would make me 5 at the time (since the Ralph opened in 1973). Some of my best memories with my father were of attending games and watching games with him. I'll also never forget the night game when we finally broke the Miami jinx. My dad allowed me to storm the field with the rest of the fans and tear the goal posts down. My brother and I still have a piece of the turf and FG netting from that game.

There are so many times in my life that I wished I could get this team out of my system and begin to root for another team, but I just can't do it. As an ex-pat living in San Diego I just can not pull for any other team than the Bills.

I also have a great memory of just before I joined the Marine Corps in 1985 when Bruce Smith was a rookie. I was working at McDonalds on Mckinley Pkwy and Bruce would regularly come through the drive in window in his new corvette. That was a miserable year, but I told him that breakfast would be on me if they won a game. Sadly I left for bootcamp before they won, LOL and never had to pay for his food.

Days like these last few really sadden me. I'll always love this team though they have probably taken a few years off of my life.

  5. No one is denigrating women. We all have girlfriends, wives, moms, sisters and daughters --whom we love--on this board.

Football players are supposed to be masculine--tough. Women, feminine--caring. Women tend to do more feminine things. Men tend to do more masculine things. Yes, women may be tough. But they're not expected to be. Men--football players in particular--are.

The poster's line was a joke already--maybe not a particularly funny one to some--but not to be taken seriously. Let's limit the lecturing, please. There's enough political correctness censoring us and intruding on us in this world. Would wish it wasn't here on this board.

    Well put!

  6. Sorry, didn't mean to imply he was "your guy."

Just that merely having an opinion on the matter will seem like you're taking his side. That is to say, to someone who may possibly be emotionally invested in the outcome for reasons beyond the facts.

    Understand, and thanks.

  7.

I would just avoid getting into arguments with friends who are so invested. It isn't worth it. "Hey, your guy is much more stupid than my guy!"...

Please believe me that I am no GZ supporter and he is not 'my guy'. I am most concerned with trying to have a rational discussion with those who will likely react badly should GZ be acquitted, which I think is likely. Maybe that is too much to ask. I am putting my faith in the justice system and those on the jury and am hopeful that others respect their decision.

  8. But here’s the key:

Obama and the Democrats would actually prefer an acquittal here.

That’s because the whole point of the ginned-up Zimmerman affair was to inflame racial sentiment to boost black turnout in 2012.

With any luck, they can turn an acquittal into another racial rallying cry, which will help in 2014.

It’s not about Zimmerman; he’s just one of those eggs you have to break to make an Obama omelet.

    .

I think you're exactly right. The race hustlers Jackson and Sharpton will not let this go if and when GZ is acquitted. They will gladly use this case to foment rioting and their ridiculous chant of "No justice, no peace"...watch and see.

I have an old Marine friend living in Florida who I still communicate with on FB and who happens to be black. He believes that GZ is guilty and recently posted such. Ironically, he himself was acquitted of murder for killing another Marine (in self defense) over in Okinawa during the 90's. He used to work for me and I was a key character witness at his court martial. I include this information because it amazes me how many of his other 'FB friends' all downright hostile toward GZ. I posted a response that "The truth will set him free" and you'd have sworn I kicked a hornet's nest! I tactfully explained my position based on the evidence that is publicly available, and asked the responders who disagree (attacked) with me if they will respect the juries opinion and foster a sense of calm in their community should the decision go in favor of GZ. So far I've had a few responses calling GZ names, etc, but not one of the five or so friends of my friend will respond that they will respect the juries decision short of a murder conviction.

I expect we will see quite a bit of rioting in Florida if GZ is acquitted based on my observation, and I'm 100% certain the Weird Al will be leading the charge!.

  9. LOL, well so much for the "we were victims too" spin attempted by the left.

Three days ago, the IRS’s new acting director (hand picked from Pres. Obama's team) hinted that the agency had been targeting progressives too, a claim supposedly confirmed by the IRS’s latest report to Congress. Lefties naturally took that to be a smoking gun that there was never any political bias and a willing media went right with it.

Now here comes IG Russell George to say that, according to his audit, it’s all basically a lie:

IRS inspector general: No, liberal groups weren’t “targeted” the way tea-party groups were

    http://hotair.com/archives/2013/06/27/irs-inspector-general-no-liberal-groups-werent-targeted-the-way-tea-party-groups-were/

Today the Inspector General confirmed that 292 conservative groups were targeted by the IRS. Only 6 liberal groups were targeted.

    The Washington Examinerreported:

Refuting Democratic suggestions that progressive groups were also swept up in the IRS probe of the tax status of Tea Party organizations,
the Treasury Department’s inspector general has revealed that just six progressive groups were targeted compared to 292 conservative groups.

Here is a copy of the IG’s letter on IRS abuse to top Democrats on the Oversight Committee.

IRS auditor reaffirms that conservatives, not liberals, were targeted.

Oops! Really the truth isn't the issue here. The Left wanted to get the misinformation out and repeated by the synchophants so the low information voter will hear the headline and say "See, this is all BS." Misinformation is one of their tactics. These days they don't even care about hiding the lies, so long as they get widely reported. I must admit that the tactic has been working for them sadly.

  10. Thank you.

To the "Get back to me on my death bed?" crowd, your attitude is the exact problem we are facing. You are going to die. Soon. When I'm 84 and need heart surgery to replace a valve, what I won't do is ask you to pay for it, OK? And frankly, I won't probably pay for it myself. I'm not going to fight for every last breath so I can lie in a hospital for the last 2 years of my life. I prefer a quality of life to a quantity of life. Americans and American doctors are so afraid of death it's pathetic. Our end-of-life care in this country is ignorant and atrocious. We see everything as a medical problem to be solved instead of looking for ways to have a slightly prolonged quality of life. Most people would rather have 18 months of sick-wasting away chemo than 2 months at home and getting about until they die.

Agree completely with this and your earlier posting. My 96 yr. old Grandma suffers from dimentia and has for the past 5 years. She doesn't know her name, nor ours. It's sad.

  11. I'm sure you used the time to get your batteries recharged and are ready to get back into the fray.

I don't want to be too critical of monitors who volunteer their time doing their best to make sure things don't get out of hand. When I was assessed a personal foul I didn't even know exactly where and when I committed my infraction. I do appreciate the people who take the time to monitor the discussions. However, a short explanation and pointing out where the so-called indiscretion occurred would be useful.

Agreed WRT an explanation. It's hard to correct a problem if you don't know what it is. And I understand that we're all guests here.

  12. well, it seems you care. in fact, it seems you find it offensive and are voicing your opinion... just like everyone else including the people you are disparaging for doing just that.

Bread and circuses my friend, bread and circuses. But keep worrying about the important things. I appreciate ya'll looking out for us. BTW, I'm 1/4 American Indian.
