  1. How about his SECOND year, too?

He's been in the league for 3 seasons, and 2 out of the 3 were Pro-bowl caliber. He's had one off year so far.

The rest of your rambling is the typical overreaction to some minor off-field stuff, and your fear of it happening again (even though nothing happened this offseason).

Put me on the list for people who want to keep him. He's worth more to us on the team right now, than he is in trade.

1000 yards, a 4.0 YPC, and 8 TDs is "Pro-Bowl" caliber season? To me that's pretty average. In fact Marshawn's career up to this point is following the Bobby Humphrey trajectory.

During his rookie season, he rushed for 1,151 yards and seven touchdowns for the Broncos as they qualified for Super Bowl XXIV, but were defeated 55-10 by the San Francisco 49ers. Humphrey, however, played well, finishing the game as the Broncos leader in both rushing (61 yards) and receiving (31 yards). Humphrey was not named NFL Rookie of the Year, due to Barry Sanders' incredible 1470-yard rookie campaign. He followed his impressive rookie performance with a Pro Bowl selection in 1990, rushing for 1,202 yards and seven touchdowns in 1990.

In 1991, Humphrey held out of training camp in hopes of obtaining a new contract. The Broncos, by team policy, refused to renegotiate his pay and the holdout continued late into the season.

Unable to secure a new contract, Humphrey finally ended his holdout in week 14. However, by that time, newly signed Gaston Green had emerged as the team's starting running back and was on his way to completing his own 1000-yard season. Furthermore, Humphrey had fallen out of favor with the team's coaching and front office as a result of the holdout. When Humphrey returned in week 14, he was out of shape and given only a reserve role in the Broncos' offense. He remained on the bench as Denver made a run to the AFC Championship Game, losing to the Buffalo Bills 10-7.

The following offseason he was traded to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for running back Sammie Smith. He played for the Dolphins in 1992 and 1993 but was never able to regain the success he had in Denver.

  2. This is the one post that the thread was begging for. I'm glad to see one solitary attempt to present the TD debate in a statistical context BUT…

can I ask where you got these figures?

If you go to Lynch or Jackson's Yahoo profile and look under situational stats you can find it. Another interesting stat of Lynch's in 2009 was how fast he wore down after his 5th carry-

    Carries 1-5, 5.0 YPC

    6-10, 2.7 YPC

    11-15, 2.5 YPC

    16-20, 2.5 YPC

    Compared to Freddy

    1-5, 3.8

    6-10, 4.5

    11-15, 4.8

    16-20, 3.1

    21-25, 6.8

    26-30, 10.4

    31+, 2.3

And people think it's no big deal that Lynch isn't reporting to "voluntary" OTA's when conditioning clearly derailed his 2009 season?

  3. How many points do they hand out for those stats again? I seem to be forgetting. Last I remember they didn't account for ****! Get a clue buddy! TDs put points on the baord. Lynch scores em. To win which is the ultimate goal you need more TDs on the board than the team you are playing against.

Lynch scored more TDs because he has had far more "and goal" carries then Fred Jackson has. Over his career Marshawn has had 46 "and goal" carries and has converted 10 (21.7%) of them while Freddy has 18 "and goal" carries and converted on 3 attempts (16.7%).

He's better than Freddy around the goal line but not by that much.

  4. 1. How many of you guys would go to your job if the boss told you it was voluntary?

I sure as hell would if that was my brand new boss and just months earlier I had missed a month of work because of personal baggage. I think the fact that only two veterans didn't attend (Lynch and Schobel) tells you just how "voluntary" these activities are.

Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch recently proclaimed he was going to "showcase what I got" and "It's time for a change" when discussing his attitude toward getting ready for 2010.

But when the Bills convened here Tuesday for the start of voluntary workouts, Lynch declined to join them.

Lynch didn't promise to show up for the start of organized team activities in the article written by Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports. But Lynch missed a wonderful opportunity to bolster his words with actions by showing up and participating.

  6. B- would you rather have anthony Davis or Brian bulaga, each of whom have proved nothing and both have pretty significant "cons", AND cost us a 1st round pick. Or you could have an established LT that we KNOW can play pro bowl caliber ball, meanwhile costing us a 2nd round pick? Hmmmmm.....

If we pull off a deal for Gaither then suddenly the Bills o-line goes from the teams biggest weakness to one of the teams biggest strengths with Gaither, Wood and Levitre all having Pro-Bowl potential and Hangartner being a solid center. The only question mark would be RT but I'd be happy to let Bell, Meredith, Green, and Wang compete for the starting spot. How people could complain about this is beyond me.

  7. Who gets rid of a top-flight, young left tackle if all is well.

When has any player ever been traded when "all is well?"

I think the last time a premier LT was traded was Willie Roaf who was traded to Kansas City after he missed most of 2001 with an injury and the Saints believed they could slide Kyle Turley over to the left side. Roaf went on to play 4 seasons with KC and made the Pro-Bowl in each one of them.

"On a day when they could have had impact players David Terrell or Koren Robinson or the second-best tackle in the draft in Kenyatta Walker, they took Georgia defensive tackle Richard Seymour, who had 1 sack last season in the pass-happy SEC and is too tall to play tackle at 6-6 and too slow to play defensive end. This genius move was followed by trading out of a spot where they could have gotten the last decent receiver in Robert Ferguson and settled for tackle Matt Light, who will not help any time soon."
  9. The biggest gripe with the Bills draft seems to be that the Bills couldn't fill their 5-7 glaring needs with the only 3 picks in the first 3 rounds they had.

The other thing that drives me nuts is when they say that they reached for Troup at 41 because he should have gone in the 50-55 range-Like there's a difference!
