  1. I very easily could be wrong, but I don't think that King meant the term as a slight to the organization. Folks here are interpreting it the wrong way (IMO)...

I didn't mean it as a negative at all. I really don't care whether or not Buddy or Chan are dishing out juicy off-the-record tidbits to the NFL blogosphere. I just think the disconnect between these 21st century techno-geeks like Jason LaConfora and an old-school good ol' boy like Buddy Nix is amusing.

  2.

I'm willing to give Edwards some benefit of doubt, but if the Bills land some big time defensive players and the D still gets manhandled the way they did last year, it's George.

I don't think anyone is going to dispute that. I'm just not going to make a judgment on him either way when he's working with the worst front 7 in the NFL.

  3. This leaves me with an even worse impression of Edwards than I already had. I wasn't sure that was possible.

For all we know it was a strategic decision to concede rushing yards to the NFL's top rush offense while keeping big plays to a minimum and hold KC to field goals in the red zone. Sort of like opposing teams conceding 30pts to Jimmer Fredette, Who knows.

Can we at least wait until Edwards gets some players on the front 7 before we decide he's in over his head as a DC? Even the best coordinators in the NFL don't turn chickenshit into chicken salad. Dom Capers had one of the worst defenses in the league when he was with the Dolphins in 2007, same with Dick Lebeau in Cincinnati. It's funny how they become geniuses again once they have some playmakers to work with.

  4.

Hoping either Carimi and/or Watt somehow fall out of round one - that would make the #34 pick a lot easier, IMO. (The only question would be which Badger to pick!)

It'll all be over in 7 weeks - then the real whining can begin! B-)

    GO BILLSSS!!!!

    PosLUSZny!!!!!

Is there any doubt that JJ Watt ends up on the Patriots? It just seems like it's destined to happened.

  5. It absolutely is worth arguing over, because a seemingly irrelevant discussion about backup OLs is illlustrative of the decision making ability of this organization. Bills knew they had a hole to fill at RT when Butler retired in February, and they elected to throw a bigger contract offer to a less competent guy when they already had a serviceable guy on the team.

That's where I disagree. Johnathan Scott isn't serviceable, he's below average. If Cornell Green is a D player then Johnathan Scott is a D+. If the Bills had gone into 2010 as Scott as their starting RT fans would have been killing Nix for it.

  6. Cornell Green

Red........it's about Cornell Green. How do you rank those restricted free agents let go in favor of signing a horrendous 34 year old to a multi-year deal. I could really care less if people think that Jon Scott was lousy. Was he better than Green? Yes. Was he cheaper? Yes. End of discussion.

Cornell Green hit the wall about a decade ago. He was the Raiders worst OL. His signing was anything but understandable.

Is it really worth arguing over whether or not there were less terrible OTs the Bills could have signed last year? The Bills needed a warm body and weren't going to get anyone good from 2010's garbage OT FA class.

  7. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/02/27/ryan-mallett-gets-rave-reviews-for-combine-effort/

Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett bounced back from a rough Saturday afternoon by doing what he does best: Spinning the football.

Mallett received uniformly rave reviews for his throwing performance on Sunday. PFT talked to Tony Pauline of SI.com and TFYDraft.com, who called the performance the best quarterback effort at the Combine of the last ten years

  8. This is the same thing that happened to Marino, causing him to fall all the way to the Dolphins. Of course, it would be unthinkable that someone such as Don Shula and Co. could put that rumor out there so teams like the Steelers passed on him. <_<

Wonder if there isnt a little bit of that in this Mallet stuff...

I don't think so, these rumors have been around since at least 2009.

  9. I do not have this information but wouldn't it be interesting to review the 09 draftnics to see what they thought of Maybin and then determine theeir potential credibility for this years draft. If the Bills are going to go D line or LB at 3 then I think this is essential information since most of us get our preferences based on their writings not on our ability to scout.

    Any thoughts?

Todd McShay was really high on Maybin. He had him going as high as #5 to Cleveland in some of his mock drafts.

  10. they openly talked about how much they liked Spiller last year and how they wanted a "waterbug" RB.

Apparently nobody believed them until they raced to the podium and picked him.

I think people believed them, eventually at least. From about 2-3 weeks before the draft when Charles Davis put out what was probably the first mock draft that had the Bills picking Spiller it seemed like the prevailing thought from then on was that the Bills would pick Spiller.

  11. Buffalo is not in a position NOT to take BPA. I don't understand the revolving door comment. I would rather have great players leave after five years than pretty good players leave after five years (great players staying is the best...but no great player has ever fallen in love with Buffalo and continued to live there after retirement...could never happen).

Yes, I agree, if BPA at #3 was a RB, it would be very tough to pick, and the BPA argument would probably lose some ground. But the good news is that BPA isn't a RB so we don't have that issue.

Last year in an interview Nix said he believes in drafting the best player available with the caveat that certain positions would be taken off the draft board early on based on the teams current personnel. So basically they could pass on a higher rated RB to pick a LB or whatever and technically still be picking the BPA because the RB wouldn't even be on their draft board in the first place.

  12. Look, how have our last 3 HCs doen as HCs since they joined better front offices? Oh, yeah--none of them have been chosen as HCs again, despite countless openings.

We could just as easily turn this question around and ask what Losman and Edwards have done since leaving Buffalo, with both bearing far more responsibility for the Bills being so crappy lately than the HCs.

I do like Mike McCarthy however, but he's coaching a team with an elite QB, elite WR's, an elite TE, an elite NT, an elite edge rusher, and an elite cornerback tandem-that's a whole lot of elite.

During a two-hour online chat last month, Jeremy Green shared sexually explicit photos and videos of a toddler with a woman named "lendingmom12" and said he couldn't wait for her to bring her three children to Connecticut, according to an arrest affidavit released Friday morning.

Unbeknownst to Green, who hid behind the screen name "jjack0721," the woman he'd been chatting with was a detective working undercover with the Taney County Missouri Sheriff's Department in Forsythe, Mo.
