Darn you Comcast!!! Darn you to heck!!!
Come on, you can't pay the extra $5/mo for NFLN, NHLN, MLBN, & the rest of them?

Licensed gun by the way.....but he doesn't have a carry permit. There is a huge difference.
The fact that it was in the trunk helped him out too. Stupid thing to do, but it's not like he was walking around waving the thing in the air.

I don't think so at all. I don't think the trunk thing was for days later. I didnt hear about it for several days, and I pay close attention, and I didnt even necessarily believe it because it was, as I recall, more of the unsourced "rumored to be in the trunk" kind of thing. I know myself that when I heard it was in the trunk and not on his person I felt a lot different about it.
Not that it wasn't stupid to be carrying a concealed weapon you shouldnt be. I think the trunk makes it significantly different. And probably made the charges and plea significantly different.
I agree that I felt better about it after I learned that. To me, it's two totally different situations. Carrying it on you shows that you're ready to use it if provoked. Locked in the trunk? It's still accessible, but not nearly as close. It would be alot easier to walk/drive away from something if the gun is in the trunk, IMO.
I think what the article is saying is that the situation is different than what everybody thinks now, and I don't see how that is possible. So far, we're lead to believe that the gun was unlicensed, in the trunk, and belonged to Marshawn. We know that because he's come out and said all of that. I think that the "source" is saying that it's different. I just can't see (short of Marshawn going in and saying that he was covering for someone else) how it could change in his favor.

There is no difference to you with a guy who has a handgun, say, tucked in the waistband of his jeans, and a guy with his gun locked in a box in the trunk?
I think since day 1 it was known that it was in the trunk, and nobody had the piece on them when the car was searched.

Its true, this was him just a couple years ago:

And what do you suppose would have happened if there was 3 years left on Harrisons contract(instead of 1) and the Steelers said to him "We are not re-negotiating your deal this year."?
I'll answer: he would be holding out just like Peters.
Harrison's situation is more like Evans than Peters. Harrison is set to become a FA next offseason, so they have this whole year to get a contract worked out.

A source close to Lynch said the situation was "not as it was portrayed"...
Of course it was not as portrayed. It was all a horrible misunderstanding, just like the incident on Chippewa.
Yeah, I didn't understand that either. It was portrayed that there was an unlicensed gun in the trunk of the car that belonged to Marshawn, and that is by his own account. What variables could possibly exist other than he was covering for one of the other two that were in the car?

Is it doing that for both the DVD player AND the cable box? If so, that's pointing towards something wrong with your TV -- as the info you found states, HDCP requires both devices in the chain to perform a "handshake" -- and if your TV has an issue, it might not be completing the handshake properly, thus you're not allowed to watch in HD anymore. It's one of the reasons HDMI kinda sucks and why manufacturers are forcing it on consumers -- because of the DRM.
If it only affects either the cable box or the DVD player, then the problem is probably with that device.
That help at all?
Well, the only few times that it happened it was just the cable box. Just last week, I had to switch out the cable box with Comcast, so maybe it is the new box.
After yesterday morning, I can't even replicate it, either. I just tried turning on the cable box first, but it seems to be working fine no matter what sequence I follow in turning it on.
I think that if it keeps happening, I'll try calling Comcast and having them reboot the box. Otherwise, I may have to try Samsung and see what they say.

"DVI Alert - Your HDTV does not support HDCP. Please use the YPrPb component connection to watch TV"
I have a Samsung 1080P LCD that I bought in April of 2007. I have it hooked up to a Samsung DVD HT-X70 with an HDMI cable and my Comcast DVR HD box hooked up with an HDMI cable and optical cable.
Everything had been perfect until Saturday morning when I turned it on and after a few minutes, the screen went green, and the above error came up. It made the size of the picture half the size in the middle of the screen, and the audio quality and volume went really low. The green screen went away when the error came up. I could watch TV fine, but the quality was poorer.
I shut everything down, turned it back on, and it came up fine. Then, after a few minutes, it did the same thing. So I shut it down again, it came up fine, then did it again.
I found the below comment when I searched for an answer online:
I'm assuming that you have your HDTV hooked up to your cable box via DVI or HDMI. Both of these are digital connections.YPbPr isn't a digital connection, it is 3 cables that carry information to create the picture. So, your box is basically telling you "Hey, I can't let you see the picture digitally because your TV doesn't support copy protection, so you better use this other mechanism to watch TV".Copy protection is implemented on these connections to prevent making "perfect" copies of video. The copy protection is called HDCP - normally a source (such as a cable box) will "ask" the destination device (such as your TV) "Do you support HDCP?" if the TV doesn't, then the source will display no picture, or sometimes (in some devices) it will display a really badly scaled down picture.I know that older HDTV sets did not support HDCP, so it could be an issue on your end too. When I turn on everything now, I've been turning on the TV first, then the cable box, and it seems to work just fine, but I'm wondering if there is something that I should do beyond this.
Anyone ever come across this situation before?

All of the risk. I think I could retire on sixteen million. He has two years left at four a year. His agent better consider that.
I agree completely, but it's two different worlds. He's not trying to get more money because there is such a difference between the way that he can live/retire making $4MM, $8MM, or $11.5MM/yr. It's more of an ego thing. He believes that he's the best lineman in the game and wants to be paid that way. If the going rate was $8MM, he'd be going for $8MM+. It just happens that the going rate is now $11.5MM, so he's going for that.
I can't say I blame the guy, because there isn't a player in the league who would accept that big of a discrepancy ($4MM vs $10+MM) in what they are being paid vs. what they are worth.

I believe the solution to the Peters situation is to just rip up the last two years of his contract and give him 8 mil or so a year for the 2 years.
He gets a good wage and gets his big payday in 2 years. WE get to keep him around for the original length of the contract at a reasonable number.
Opinions?
His argument will be that he could be hurt in 2 years. What you propose is fair to the team, but it basically takes all of the risk and puts it on the player.

You must not have worn it much. Mine is LONG GONE, worn out.

Wrap it up, put the trees down til the offseason, and don't deal mass amounts of coke.
God, why don't we just become Quakers again!

I am amazed at the things people concern themselves with
I'm amazed that you've been here since 2006 and you're still clueless.

super depressing.
I agree Cap'n. I think I'll J.O. instead of bang the girlfriend tonight.
-
you're so gay for mentioning this movie.
-
..or your nose itches, or you did cocaine, etc.
My guess is cocaine. That's pretty ballsy before a 20 minute interview.
-
Say what you want about him as a coach, but he is a gentleman and a stand-up guy.
He probably has a pretty decent, dry sense of humor. He's pretty rigid in interviews, but I bet that he's much more personable off camera.
-
It was a good interview:
Asked about TO coming here and he said that he loved it and that he wanted to be playing in January & February.
Asked if he feels pressure now that they have the weapons, and he said that he feels good about the organization being behind him enough to get those weapons (I think he was talking about Evans contract, too).
Asked if he was ready to be asked about TO in every interview and he laughed and said he was getting used to it.
At the end, they were saying that he was an easy guy to root for.
Nothing earth shattering, but it was nice to see some more Bills coverage.

Also a new Important Things, following SP.
For those who haven't had a chance to see it, check out Important Things. I think it is a pretty terrific, and funny, show. Demitri Martin is a very smart comic.
I've been watching that, too. I don't really laugh much during it, but it's still a very entertaining comedy.

Looks like we should have drafted Korrodi instead He's #1.
On a side note, I'm pretty disappointed in Group 1's effort. Group 2 really brought it today.
Thanks for posting this 3 year old piece of non-linked garbage. Real helpful in putting this debate to bed.
-
I think that if he misses more than 3 games, we need to address it via free agency in 2010, not the draft. If we draft a QB early next year (or especially this year), it will show that we're moving on.
I agree that you can't expect your starter to be sidelined.

No brainer: Brady
and after last year, a close runner up would have to be Kris Jenkins.
