  1. I share your optimism, Dan. I like almost all of the offseason moves so far (would have liked to find a way to keep Peters, but it was a tough situation for both sides after 2 years of fighting). I think that our receiving corp, including the RB's, is top notch this year with the addition of Owens & Nelson. I'm excited to see what Maybin can bring to the table and what Schobel has left in his tank, too. I think that we've added more talent, and dropped some dead weight in guys like Fowler, Dockery, & Royal. I also can't wait to see what sort of progression guys like McKelvin, Poz, & Whitner make this year.

I worry most about the coaching (can we get the most out of this group of players), second about the Trent coming through, and third about our O Line congealing early on in the year. I would still like to see us get an experienced LB before camp, too.

  2. Analysis: Pass rusher was undoubtedly the Bills' biggest need before they dealt Jason Peters, at which time it was thought that Buffalo would select the best offensive tackle on the board. Instead, Buffalo passed over Ole Miss' Michael Oher to take Maybin, who is a bit undersized but has good pass-rushing instincts. Then, at No. 28, the Bills again ignored the likes of Arizona's Eben Britton to select Wood, an interior lineman who few rated as a first- round talent. http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform...aspx?id=4228706

I think most everyone else on the planet would agree(other then Bills Fans) that after trading away the Bills best offensive lineman at the most important position on the line would have been the highest priority in the draft.

But then... you have a defensive minded HC and a 2nd year OC and line coach who obviously are clueless to how important that LT position is in protecting the injury prone QB.

My take is Jauron is really trying to get himself fired before his contract is up, will he still shoulder all the blame when Trent Edwards is on injured reserve?

    Yeah, this is probably right.

It couldn't have been that the rest of the tackles were rated below the choices that we had on our board, which is how the Bills run their draft (no secret there). Or that they are comfortable with Walker at LT, where he practiced last offseason and started while Peters was out. Or with Chambers, who stepped in and played last year in all 16 games, starting 2 at LT. Or with Bell, who the coaching staff is high on, and people like you and I know absolutely nothing about. Or any combination of the 3.

You're right, it is probably a self detonated grenade so that he can leave and coach elsewhere.

  3. In South Jersey, there is a Super Shop Rite that's giving Wegman's a run for their money because they sell liquor and neither of the local Wegman's will do it. They have everything that Wegman's has, plus a huge selection of liquor, beer, and wine (you can buy a $300 case of St. Bernardus there). They've already put a few local liquor stores out of business, but there are so many that it probably isn't going to affect many of them.

The law in New Jersey is that wine & beer can be sold 24/7, but liquor can only be sold between the hours of 9am-10pm, 7 days a week.

  4. Seriously....sign him to a minimum contract with incentives. Nothing to lose...Williams vs a no-name street free agent. He knows the team, the area, etc.... Oh the irony. That would be great.

I agree. If he's in shape enough to make it through camp, keep him around at the minimum and see if he's got anything left in him. Maybe working in the real world (and probably spending all his money) has sobered him up some, and he actually has something to play for now.
