From where we are standing, what is your measure for a successful season.

I need the guy who said "I just like to watch, it doesn't matter whether they win or lose" to speak up here, please -

I see a lot of people making assumptions about what the other AFC teams are going to do from here on out. The truth is we can't predict that any more than we could have predicted having to worry about the last 11 games of the regular season after we started 6-1 against what looked like a ridiculous gauntlet before the season started. Nobody predicted the Titans winning the 1 seed last year and no one had the Bengals beating Mahomes in KC, especially at halftime of that game. ***** happens. It's the NFL. That said, my measure of a successful season remains what it was before the season started: a Lombardi. -
Very disturbing to see how many fans have turned against Allen.

No, lol, they say they're playing like ***** to take the pressure off the guys that ARE playing like *****. I'm sure that in the room Josh has plenty to say to the guys that are playing like *****, but he wouldn't call them out publicly. Remember when Kelly publicly blamed House Ballard, and Thurman came out and said he'd better look at himself as well? And when Flutie would say "we fumbled the ball" or "we threw an interception" instead of saying that HE fumbled or threw a pick? I don't miss those days. Whether he's playing like ***** or not, Josh is saying all the right things. -

That's because that's what a leader does. I loved Kelly, but the only games he has won that Josh hasn't are AFCCGs. And none of the teams he played in those games -- Raiders, Broncos, Dolphins, Chiefs -- were close to the level of Kansas City today. Plus he got to play three of those games at home because the AFCE was largely horrible other than the Bills, which isn't the case now. -

Holy crap am I glad I wasn't in there. -
And those are exactly the adjustments that coaches have to make. And they did.
-
His throwing motion is different for sure. He's getting his shoulder and body into his throws in a way he didn't really need to before. Jim Kelly late in his career was doing something similar. It definitely affects his short-to-intermediate throws more. I also think that some of the WR drops may be due to the fact that the ball is coming at them differently than they're used to. Still gotta make those catches, but he seems to have a little less zip on some throws, and that fraction of a second makes a difference. They're just going to need to adjust while he works this out.

yeah it’s been awhile since they’ve played and it’s an unfamiliar stadium… -
Be that as it may, the ref knew the rule which is why he didn't move to pick up the ball. Actually, it probably should have been called an illegal forward pass, which would have made it a safety and given us the ball. I was in that end zone where Lindell missed the kick, after making a snap decision that morning to go to the game and pay $125 to scalp a ticket and sit among a bunch of ####### Steeler fans. Then I watched Willie ***** Parker break off that run after receiving a handoff from Brian ***** St. Pierre. It was awful.
-
And then he sits out two weeks later at Cincinnati because they have "that" turf.
-
It absolutely was. We win the game if that was called correctly. Then of course they hurried to change the rule just as fast as they could. It reminded me of the '99 Cup Final.... not just the no goal, but the play where Brian Skrudland headbutted one of our players right in front of a ref.... at the time (perhaps even now) it was an automatic one-game suspension. Of course the league ignored it. Man made a business decision. That's where he really announced his retirement.

Either he’s not looking like himself in practice or he doesn’t feel ready. The fact that McDermott won’t say which is it is strongly suggests it’s the latter. There’s no competitive disadvantage in saying he doesn’t look ready when you’re not going to play him. But saying he doesn’t feel ready would be actively throwing him under the bus, and McDermott doesn’t do that to his players.

I met him once, when I was an intern on Capitol Hill in 1989. We didn’t share a party affiliation, but I wanted to see him speak because, well, you know, Jack Kemp. I went up to him after his talk, shook his hand, and told him I was a big fan from Rochester. He exclaimed, “Rochester? All RIGHT!” and clapped me on the back so hard I almost spit up a lung. As I said, we didn’t share a party, but I always liked and respected him. He was a good man. Too few of those left.

Exactly. We sold out to stuff the run and dared Brissett to beat us, even with a Swiss cheese secondary. It worked. How would you all have felt if we locked down the pass and Chubb ran for 250 and three scores? -

They scored on eight of ten drives and didn't turn the ball over but we "have work to do." I'll take that. -
