  1. After many years of Tom Modrak being in the organiztion and playing a vital role in our NFL Draft. I just fail to understand why he is still in the Bills organization. The Bills have had several blunders in the draft and in my opinion it continues. Last year taking Aaron Maybin over Bryan Orakapo DE was obviously not a swift move and it was easy to

realize from the onset that choosing a undersized Maybin was a bad selection when Orakapo was the consensus best DE in the draft by a good margin. Modrak has been a key to why the Bills pick who they do and this year choosing a RB over a OLT or QB was highly questionable in many fans and experts alike opinions. These are just two of many examples of his poor contributions to our drafts. Greg Williams wanted us to draft a QB that was available when the Bills made their first round selection when he was the head coach here. That QB is playing for New Orleans Saints now and is wearing a Super Bowl ring already!!!!!!!!!! Modrak didn't agree with Greg Williams and we all grew to despise Williams as a head coach. Looks like we despised the wrong guy! I am trying to remember when they took Mike Williams as OLT and if Tom Modrak was here at that time? I believe he was, and what a great (not) pick that turned out to be with the 4th overall selection in the draft.

My vote is yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Put it up on a banner for all to see!! Tom Modrak must go!!! Then maybe we'd draft a franchise QB for once instead of resorting to a 7th round pick to select a QB.

I hope this topic is a little different than what's been up and running lately as it's sure boring being a Bills fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    :w00t: 2010 Bills prediction 5-11

your lost and this post sucks and is ridiculous. just because you bring up something new which is new. bring up something new that is flat out stupid is not cool.

obviously Nix is smarter than you because the first guy he kept was modrak a successful personnel man for over 3 decades and a former GM who built the eagles.

    nice try though.

  2. Seriously, if Edwards is given the job; it's going to be a challenge to sit through the games....haven't we suffered enough already? I read in the media that it's Edward's job to lose but he had already lost the job last year -

Brohm appears sharper in the footage and in the reports from OTAs. For the love of the fan base, please don't give it to Edwards b/c that's the easy thing to do, Chan. Brohm's upside is much better

yea OK. is that why the team who selected him in the second round exposed him to the whole league(with no takers) and put him on their practice squad.

he was so good he could not even make their roster as their third string QB after they invested a second round pick in the guy.

    get freaking real!

  3. One sentence in this article about the state budget spending....

$3 million spent to keep the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo, a deal made with the NFL team over a decade ago.

Is this a recurring payment every year?

    whats your point?

LOL thats like 10 cents its part of the maintenance agreement made with the bills the bills bring a lot of money to this area and your worried about 3 million.

I'll bet the bills bring in for the community every home game much more than 3 million, give me a break.

  4. We happen to have quite a few safeties. One in particular might be valuable to the Chargers. Donte Whitner is that player. I have no problem at all going into this season with Byrd, Scott, Wilson, and Harris as our safeties. We're overloaded at the position to tell the truth, and if Nix can't recognize the value there he is sleeping at the wheel.

Marcus McNeil is valuable to the Chargers as well. But, if we sent them Whitner, Bell/Meredith, and a draft pick we can get the deal done. They also recently signed Tra Thomas, so they have insurance at the position. As long as we can sign McNiel to a long term deal, we can get this done.

you are out of your mind if you think SD is trading Mc Neil and definatly crazy to think they would trade him for whitner.

first of all they will never trade the guy but for sh-ts and giggles lets say they do it would take something like whitner our first amd third to pry him from the chargers.

but its all moot because they are never going to trade the guy!

  6. From what little we see on these practice highlights Ive now noticed how Edwards pats the ball before he throws it about half the time, which gives the defense more time to react, his deep ball has never been his strong point yet its has been his recievers strong point!? This has never made sense to me. I have been a Trent, he could be the next Frank Reich. A very good #2 smart enough to know the offense, good enough to win some games, but just not a full time starter.

Fitzpatrick seems to be throwing picks all the time, his accuracy is terrible and has a weak arm, if he is named the starter we have no upside this year.

IMO and the limited amount we have seen Brohm is looking the best having touch on his passes and a stronger arm than the other two.

i guess thats why he was a second rounder who in his first year was on their practice squad free to anyone who wanted him.

  7. Running game will get clogged up. Simple football, must have some over the top threat.

are you freaking serious,do you not think Galiey will know what to do if he constantly sees eight in the box.

have you not listened to the players talk of all the shifting and motion in Galieys offense and how happy they are to see that and its going to cause defenses trouble.

with guys like spiller, nelson, evans and roscoe on the field along with lynch or jackson its pretty simple really the QB sees 8 in the box they shift out of the run and throw the freaking ball to any one of 4 guys.

you totally forget that we now have a coach who knows how to run a offense and score points. i think galiey would love to see 8 in the box because with our talent we will hurt people!

  8. I was thinking about a fan post I read the other day, I can't remember what the title was or what it was supposed to be about.,but everyone started to talk about Torell Troup and the fact that he has to play well, for our defense to be successful. It struck me as odd because there was little disagreement on this matter.

I was thinking about the truth in that summary, when it dawned on me that he has to play well for the whole team to be sucessful.

Think about it, if he gets shoved all over the field this year, rookie or not, that's a lousy pick. He's a very high draft choice and Nix and Modrak stated that your ones and twos (draft choices) have to be able to play as rookies. I for one, for the most part, agree with that statement.

And if he's a lousy pick, he will remind you of a another lousy pick; John McCargo. McCargo was drafted under the same circumstance as Terrel. Drafted way higher than most had him rated. This continuity suggests perhaps that the same guy drafted them, and that guy would be Tom Modrak . Not only that, but his boss, Buddy Nix approved it. So, it would suggest that it is highly likely that we will have to start from scratch soon, yet again.

So if we want to learn if the Bills new braintrust knows how to find talent, and we do; Torel Troup's rookie season will be as good indicator as anything....

    All Hail Torrel Troup!

    Terell Troup!

    GO BILLS

  9. I was just reading a post on the Patriots and how they've managed players over the last few years, and people on this board were enjoying their woes - and I thought, the Patriots aren't the team at the top of the mountain anymore, so to speak.

I'm thinking the Ravens have built up a team that will really be hard to stop, with their good running game, and now their WR's and TE's - ouch - and then their front seven on Defense... the only thing missing from a team that could be considerably better than their Super Bowl winning team of 2000? is a shutdown corner. Well, if they had a better cornerback duo they would be without apparent weakness.

So, my proposal is this: we've got a good cornerback stable. We could use Gaither. Couldn't we offer them one of our cornerbacks and a lower round pick for Gaither? I'd send either McGee or Florence if I were getting Gaither in return. Anyway, as I see it, Baltimore is so close to being a championship team they might be willing to deal Gaither for some security in their secondary.

you actually dont think nix offered them that? the problem is that they would want mckelvin.

  10. "Coach Josh McDaniels is leaning toward keeping only two quarterbacks active on game days this season.

Activating a third QB would "put us behind the eight ball at other spots," explained McDaniels. The Broncos will want Tim Tebow active for situational work, so Brady Quinn will likely be the odd man out." (Per ESPN + Rotoworld)

What do you guys think of Quinn? I'm thinking Buffalo is going to be the first place he looks. Love to see them cut Fitzpatrick and snag Quinn. Another option can't be bad if the starter falls on his face. More competition in the mean time.

Also I'm a little surprised Josh McCown is still a free agent. He showed some athleticism and a big arm when he started in AZ a few years back. He's a better version of Tyler Thigpen, in my opinion. With Gailey, I think he could play pretty well. Especially by comparison to what we've seen lately.

lol, cleveland drafts him in the first round and then gives him away wanting no part of him. then the team he is traded to gets rid of him(if what your telling us is true) in favor of orton and tebow and now you want him in buffalo, really?

guys like you crack me up you hear a name you recognize and right away you want him in buffalo after 2 teams junk his ass just incredible!

  11. I say we trade Schobel for what we can get if he'll commit to playing for the other team that we could get to do the deal.

    [/quote

you guys just crack me up with your ignorance.

schobel is done he does not want to play any more only with his kids.

if you were smart enough to listen to him yesterday you would have heard him say he would only go to Houston but thats probably not likely either and he wants to retire as a bill.

i know your not smart enough to understand this but he is a man of character and family. he has plenty of money and he wants to now raise his family in his little home town in Texas. is your head so thick that you cannot understand that?

lastly MR genius what do you think the Texans would be willing to give up for him knowing he is going to retire and if he does play (which he obviously does not have his heart into anymore) he may play for the texans for a year or two maybe.

I'll tell you what they will give us jack sh-t!

guys like you are a freaking joke and obviously stupid also!

  12. I agree. I've watched all the film I could of Wang and he's not impressed me all that much. I've yet to see him bury a defender in the run game. Pretty good feet for a big guy, but man is he ever a project.

    bulls sh-t!

i'll take Nix's , kirwin and ryans opinion of his talent and play over yours!

  13. I agree. I've watched all the film I could of Wang and he's not impressed me all that much. I've yet to see him bury a defender in the run game. Pretty good feet for a big guy, but man is he ever a project.

  14. I am amazed by the fascination with this guy (besides his name i mean).

Didn't look like a whole lot to me at the open practice and I mean physically as well as in the drills.

Doesn't mean he won't develop into something someday, but why all the interest now?

did you ever see him play in collage?

Pat Kirwin loved the pick and then went back and watched all the tape from last year and came back even more impressed.

the kid is an expiranced LT who played a lot for one of the best programs in the country. he is very technically sound and as kirwin and many scouts agreed he is rarly if ever out of position or misses assignments and you diss him. good players fall for what ever reason. marcus mcneil for one it happens.

in fact kirwin, ryan and many scouts all said they would not be surprised if he was buffalo's starting RT this year.

the kid has tons of upside why anyone would diss him is beyond me.

  15. Maybin will have his first period before he grows a sack.

I really hope the guy does well. I think he is weak and will get pushed around a lot, but could be a good tackler and good in pursuit. He might even learn to cover, with his good speed.

how the hell can you say he is weak? thats absolutely ridiculous! the guy is absolutely chiseled and is a weight room freak.

secondly he will definatly not get pushed around because he will not be going up against 340 lb tackles as a 3/4 OLB instead he will be going against running backs and TEs which in most cases he will be bigger and stronger than.

the job of taking on the tackles and setting the edge in a 3/4 will now fall on our DE's.

  16. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playernews.aspx?sport=NFL

I'd like to see Maybin get his first NFL sack, period. I really hope the change to the 3-4 was all this guy needed to be more effective. Hopefully he can keep the added weight on this year and be able to play with more strength. He has the quickness, let's just hope he puts it all together after having a full offseason and training camp to make progress.

he will have no problem kepping the weight on at all he a big kid. he's so young he will only get bigger and the added weight will not slow him down one bit. for his size 250 is no problem @ all!

  17. Anyone who watched training camp during the Jauron years saw the same thing we are seeing now. Wait until he does something when there's tackling.

thats total BS,parrish was never used in any way shape or form in the offense under juron's tenure, you dont know what you are talking about!

the kid is absolutly deadly in space and can take it to the housse @ any time,Galiey will take full advantage of that mark my words!

  18. PFT reports, "A league source tells us it "looks like" White will indeed be released."

Wonder if this opens the door for a Lynch trade? I believe it was reported Seattle offered a 3rd for him. I don't think he was at OTA's. Why would Seattle trade for White and suddenly release him?

because he was just suspended for the first 4 games of this season, most likely drug related. man how these guys could let drugs ruin their million dollar checks is beyond my imagination.

what a total idiot he just got traded and yesterday i read where he was going to be their starting back and how he had lost so much weight and was in great shape and he blows it all just amaizing!

getting back to Lynch maybe now the seahawks would be very interested in Lynch to bad they dont have a LT to offer the bills but if they caved and gave us their second round pick that would be incredible and i think the bills would jump on that in a heartbeat.

  19. Chan could have the inside track on Adams since he coached him when he was HC in Dallas.

I think it would be a major upgrade to have a proven vet LT going into the season rather than what we have now....even for just one year.

The Bills' offense doesn't stand a chance to succeed if they can't protect the QB.

I say upgrade the LT and RT spots this year if possible and then this team has a shot to compete.

he is definatly a huge upgrade in the run game, which would appeal to the bills. however in the pass game i think he would not be a very good option but probably definatly better than bell @ this point since he is still rehabbing!

  20. Gaither has an injured foot ... he's been moved to RT ... he has an attitude problem ... he will be a FA after this season ... he may have a weight issue too.

So, for the naysayers ... if our LT's fail us miserably and we don't win any games (your ultimate fantastic dream season) then we get to pick Mel Kiper's #1 QB and ... Gaither will be out on the FA market.

If we make the trade w/o him signing a long term contract then it is not even worth a #3 pick. If he signs and then his injury or weight or attitude keep him from playing then do we draft an LT next year after the ultimate dream guaranteed to succeed QB?

If we sign him and make the trade ... give up a #2 and maybe a player (Roscoe) and he doesn't pan out then who do we blame?

Bell had one good game at LT to start the season when we had an OL w/o injuries. Then everyone started getting hurt. Does he have potential? Maybe. Does every single rookie OL make more than their share of mistakes/penalties? Yes ... Did Bell do anything worse than any other first year LT? I don't think so.

So Bell might be ready ... Wang is certainly motivated ... or maybe Gaither but not at too steep a price.

And, is anyone surprised that Adam is contradicting himself one more time?

doesant pan out? the guy started 2 years in this league and played great are you freaking serious?

obviously you dont know this but young proven LT's in the NFL are worth their weight in gold.

you are absolutly clueless in regards to gaithers talent!

  21. Why give up anything for Gaither? The Bills are not contending for a playoff spot this year, that should be very obvious to the objective fan if there is such a thing. Gaither will be a free agent next year his true market value will be known. There is not a need to give up a player or a draft pick for him. They are planning to start Edwards this year that should last a few games until he goes on IR. He will be followed by Fitzpatrick and Brohm. Perhaps Levi Brown will see a game or two at the end of the season.

are you freaking serious absolutly ridiculous clueless logic!

  22. Good. I don't think the Bills should give up anything more than a 3 for him, if anything at all.

The Ravens have done two things already to lessen his value: they've moved him to a less valuable position AND publicly called him out on his attitude (as was backed up by his college coach previously).

IMHO, the Ravens won't run the risk of keeping a player who's value has declined by keeping him and risk losing him to FA and not getting anything in return. This is his last season in B'more regardless as he seeks to be compensated like an elite LT. Well, he's currently an injured RT. The Ravens have overplayed their hand.

The idea that they'll just hold on to him until a team sustains an injury (some have posited that here) is a gamble at best. And even THEN I doubt a team would be willing to pay more than a 3rd.

    GO BILLS!!!

look the guy is a very very good proven LT and is very young and has started 2 seasons. if you think you get a young possibly great LT for a third round pick you are out of your mind!
