OK i have a brother inlaw who is partners in a construction company with a NFL LB and i was told that this LB is coming to Buffalo in a trade for one of our RB's

Bash me if you want but this trade is in the works

A quick search of his message history has him saying he lives in Ohio and went to Ohio State. He also had a comment a few days ago saying the Bills should trade for AJ Hawk since he is not starting. Another quick search says that AJ Hawk owns a construction company in Columbus http://www.bbb.org/centralohio/business-reviews/contractor-commercial/mid-ohio-contracting-services-ltd-in-grandview-heights-oh-70059357

Take it for what it's worth. Usually these rumors seem like pipe dreams but this guy's story actually adds up.

why do all bills fans want everyone else's trash? if hawk were any good and with his draft status why is he not starting?

if hawk was any good and with where he was drafted why is he sitting the bench? lastly do you realize the amount of money we would be paying the guy to sit the bench.

  2. PFT reports that Green Bay is going with Dimitri Nance off Falcons practice squad.

You know, the Packers may have a hard time running against us, and I think our secondary can hang with the Green Bay boys. I predict a very low scoring, winnable game again.

are you freaking serious. they have a prolific passing game and we have no pass rush. IMO and this hurts me they will easily score 30 points.

this is going to be an ugly as- whopping and i hate to say it because it really hurts me but after watching us play sunday we dont have a chance in hell of kepping up with this team.

  3. That's the guy you want as the face of your franchise? My god, what a disgrace. "We're excited!" "I'm not sure that we got C.J. going well enough."

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I've watched Trent Edwards very closely during his time in Buffalo. You can see it in his eyes, you can read it in his body language. You can see it before the games on the sidelines just WATCHING him. Trent Edwards doesn't give a damn about winning or losing. He is a flat-lined, this-is-my-job kind of person who cares about himself first, last, and always. There is absolutely no putting the team first with this guy. Just look at how he'll turtle up at the end of games and won't even TRY to throw the ball down field knowing that is the only chance (slim, granted) of victory. He just wants to preserve himself, his stats, and his image.

How many more chances do we have to give this guy before he is finally out of his "one more chance"?

And don't give me this "the offensive line stinks" bullcrap. There are plenty of quarterbacks who play behind bad offensive lines and don't look HUMILIATINGLY awful. Heck, Jay Cutler has maybe a worse o-line in Chicago, but at least he throws the ball down the field.

You realize that Trent Edwards has never had a single 300-yard passing performance, right? It's a joke. Give me a guy who will at least TRY, over this same tired-ass scared checkdown turtle humiliating baby bull ****. It's a man's game. Give me someone who isn't afraid to fail, and maybe, just maybe we'll get this franchise out of the gutter.

what a total load of ridiculous BS. you need a doctor or some cources on the game of football.

if you really believe this garbage your are IMO clueless about this game.

  4. Maybe they can trade for Jason Peters.

lol,the fans in philly are not at all in love with peters and if you go to their message boards you can read about their feelings toward peters yourself.

they openly wonder if they got fleeced with the theory that peters was the best tackle in the league.

  5. Very true although Wang, Cordaro, and Sean Allen actually do look like Practice Squad material.

Remember that Chambers got cut to start the season last year? Right now he is the #4 tackle and maybe the #3 gaurd. That scares the daylights out of me.

So .... what exactly did we do to improve this line rom last year?

Losing Butler (solid RG and decent RT) and adding Cornell Green does not look like net positive so far.

if you place those 3 on the practice squad please explain who our backups will be?

if you think the bills are going to claim 3 guys and make them our backups without knowing our system and playing one down of football for the bills your out of your mind.

what if someone god forbid goes down the first quarter of the first game then what?

dont get me wrong i think we will try to improve our o/line depth but if we claim more than one or 2 i would be shocked. IMO 2 is the max.

  6. I just realized that both of Edwards pretty good performances the last 2 weeks came against teams running a 4-3 defense in Cincy and Indy. However, against Washington, Edwards struggled mightily, and guess what defense they play? A 3-4.

I am really hoping Gailey can teach Edwards what to look for against a 3-4 because otherwise we are in for a loooong season again with Edwards looking good against 4-3 teams and horrible against 3-4 teams...

give it a break will you..

its not about the 3/4 its about the offensive line and the running backs picking up the blitzes of the 3/4

if the line does its job we will be just fin3e.

we beat the mighty jets last year with one third of our starters out in a very big game for the jets.

    its all on the line.

  7. I posted the thoughts/analysis below in another thread... It strikes me that the Levitre stuff is new criticism and counter the argument that our OG's are beasts. Clearly at least one of them has a ways to go...

and he made the all rookie team,go figure,LOL. the kid is going to be a great one IMO,however it does not happen over night all young players are learning every snap.mayock thinks we have the best pair of young guards in the NFL i'll stick with his assessement.

  8. I listen to WGR through my computer. What I have noticed with Simon and his co-hosts in the morning and the ofternoon couple, Schoop and the Bulldo (both wretched) is a level of frustrastion and exasperation with the team. It has gotten to the point that there is a depleting "sameness" to reporting on this team that the radio guys just want to move on to something else.

While you are critical of the radio station for their lack of attention and enthusiasm toward the Bills I do understand where they are coming from. There comes a point at which what more can you say? The criticisms directed toward the team, organization and owner are the same criticisms that have been made for a decade straight.

What is most bad about the Bills is not that they are so much a bad team (which they are) but they are a very unentertaining and boring team. Trying to manufacture a fake on air enthusiasm when it doesn't exist rings very hollow.

The problem with WGR and the Bills has little to do with the coverage. The problem centers around the product on the field. Until that is upgraded the coverage is also going to be lackluster.

so no matter what city their prospective sports radio stations dont talk about their sport teams unless they are good. makes sense to me?

  9. I can make excuses for just about anything. We looked like poop and the 'skins looked good. You can't tell me what happened tonight was good for our guys.

yea ok leaving 16 players home 6 starters had nothing to do with our performance get freaking real.we played without our 2 starting OT's and our best guard that makes no differance either right come on man.

lastly we lost our 2 best backs in the first series and we were going to use lynch and jackson in the backfield together as our game plan as chan told us i suppose that didntr matter either.

our first string defense playing without our 2 starting LB's looked very good in my opinion.

there were a few plays on both sides of the ball that allowed the game to get out of hand.

you people need to calm down and let this thing play out it was the first pre season game for Christs sake get real.

  10. In all seriousness, if him and Simpson continue to have strong preseasons and camp, this team needs to seriously consider trading Lynch or Jackson (I would assume Lynchs value would be higher especially if he has a good preseason) and try to get some help somewhere at a weaker position or at least 2nd or 3rd round pick next year.

We can roll with Jackson and Spiller with Bell and Simpson for depth...

absolutly no way they trade lynch. he had a great run yesterday when he got hurt and you know galiey loves him. they will most likely carry 4 half backs and a full back.

lynch will not get traded you can bet on that.

  11. It's all about Revis' ego now, and his pride. I agree that the terms of Asomougha's contract make it ridiculous for Revis to expect that over that long of a deal. If Revis can get over the $28.5 mil that Asomougha got in even a 5 year deal at $60 mil, I think he could declare victory. Revis and his agent have to realize that it's the Jets cap room that won't allow for more. As this draws on, Revis is looking like an a$$.

there is no salary cap this year.

the problem will show itself when a new cba is agreed upon next year and the jets will have to cut good players to keep the players they are giving these outrageous contracts to this year.

sooner or later there will be a cap again and that is when the jets will be in serious trouble.

  12. I understand it really doesn't matter if you're winning games, which Buffalo isn't, but

how many teams in the NFL have as many 1st and 2nd round picks not starting?

    I see:

    1. Lynch 1st

    2. Maybin 1st

    3. McLuvin 1st

    4. Hardy 2nd

    Are there others?

mckelvin was very good his first year and got hurt his second, imo he will be a star.

lynch has been to the probowl

maybin is 22 years old who missed training camp his rookie year and played out of position.the book on him has not yet been written. he was also a sophmore when we drafted him time will tell but its way to early to make any assessements on him as a player.

hardy is the only guy you list who i think may be in trouble.

  13. I think the ironic thing about the Spiller holdout is that after going to Bills training camp last Saturday, I came away with the impression that drafting Spiller was a BIG MISTAKE. The reason being is that we are LOADED at RB already. Have any of you watched Jacquie Bell practice? To me, he looks like a stud in the making. Marshawn looks powerful and motivated, and Freddie is already a stud back. Throw in McIntyre as a fullback/blocker/H-back, and Simpson as a scatback/kick returner and we are more than set at RB.

I honestly think the Bills believe that as well after a week of training camp. Our secondary and RB corp are top notch. So my thinking is that the Bills are not wowing Spiller's agent with a tremendous deal. (Sure it is between 8 and 10, but probably nowhere close to #8"s deal. If Spiller is not signed by the beginning of next week, what about the possibility of trading his rights to someone who has a very good OT prospect they are willing to part with. A team in need of an electric RB. We are in desperate need of OT's. Looking at this team right now, it sure looks like we should have taken the top OT on the board when we were drafting at #9. Anthony Davis while maybe not an automatic sure thing would have solved a much pressing need (if we could have signed him).

Buddy Nix is a toughguy. I think he is a pragmatist as well. (can't wait to hear what he says about Spiller if not signed this week) Would any of you be shocked if we tried to trade Spiller's rights if he is not signed shortly? Just some thoughts from a different bent on the subject.

trade him, absolutly brainless, whats wrog with you guys.

sometime i think you guys get off on looking like a total idiot!

  14. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...to-other-teams/

Another quality player is allowed to talk his way off of the team, and the Bills get nothing in return. I thought those days were over.

thats pretty funny seeing that nix just said they will not cut him and they wont.

do you think nix is stupid, cut him and let the jets or ne pick him up aitnt going to happen.

congrats to Nix he knows his s-it.

if he trades him he will trade him to the texans or he will stay retired!

    get your facts straight.

  15. I know there was a similar post just closed - but on BuffaloRumblings they are suggesting just that - Schobel now closer to returning than retiring. It doesn't surprise me - because if he wanted to retire, he'd probably have done it much sooner. Why wait until training camp and beyond, especially when there's a new defense to learn, when coming to camp late would only, most likely, prevent him from starting. To me, it is a dramatic difference between our LB corp with Shobel and without him. I'd like to see if he can adjust to it. Certainly, if they shift from 3-4 to 4-3 out of the 3-4 allignment, pre-snap, then he'd be a good DE candidate to line up anywhere - certainly the opposition's O-line would have to account for him.

So, is it a better unit, 3-4, with him, or is he not really suited for it?

the effect his presence would have on maybin would be astronomical. with them having to account for schobels presence maybin's opportunities to rush the passer would increase 10 fold.

i love galiey i hope he is smart enough to let schoble use ralphs jet to take him home on their off days mon and tues, ralph already promised him that courtesy.

he is by far our best defensive weapon who would command attention on every down and the benefits of him not having to face tackles as our strong side OLB in our 3/4 would mean he would have to be accounted for by TE's and RB's and would create an emmense mismatch.

the man is a class act and a family man however his presence could make maybin a super star coming off the edge. it would be pick your poison.

all the as-holes saying move on without him have no clue what they are talking about, you do not subtract your best defensive player and not feel the effects.

i pray to the lord that wilson exerts his authority and gives schobel his wishes to be with his kids 2 days a week because the benefits far out weigh the negatives and would make maybin develop much quicker and increase his confidence imennesly.

right now we have not strong side OLB worth a crap with schobel teams would have to adjust their whole offense to account for him only speeding up maybins development

between the 2 of them they could account for more than 25 sacks easily..

  16. He wants to play. He just does not want to play here and he simply does not want to come right out and demand a trade, because he does not want to seem like a jerk to the fans and team who have supported him.

It seems to me that he is trying to do the right thing. He wants to play closer to his home but he does not want to demand a trade publicly. The Bills should (and may already have been) be looking to see if Houston, Dallas or TN has interest in trading for him. It is unlikely, but it is worth a chance. Otherwise, just release him and let him get on with his life. He really isn't in the longterm plans for the team anyway. Just move on.

you are a moron he is our best defensive player,go root for another team!

  17. I doubt we will see this declared officially on the depth chart until it happens so as not to tip our hand but my sense is:

    1. There is an obvious opening for a #2 WR-

In fact when we let TO walk we actually are letting go our WR that finished 1st in receptions and total yards and Evans finished a mere 1 TD ahead of TO whom we let go. Lets take it as a given that Evans is the #1 WR (even though statistically he was not) but this merely even more sharply identifies we are missing a #2 WR.

    2. There are several candidates for this essential #2 role but none is a lock to step up into this job=

    A. Johnson is highly regarded by all, but the statistical fact (which does not determine anything for sure but is an indicator which cannot be logically totally ignored) is that he regressed in achievements last year with fewer receptions, yards and games played. There was simply little or no nothing about Edwards which indicated he simply demands to play with his accomplishments on the field.

    B. Hardy has collegiate accomplishments, great height (this cannot be taught), and a nice TD pm a fade route early in his rookie year but simply defines the saying that potential means you have not done anything real yet.

    C. Easley is well regarded in the draft books and most agree the Bills got a steal in the 4th. However. Gailey is not a fool who is gonna demand that this rookie step in an immediately force single coverage opportunities for Evans.

These three are all viable plan Bs but little else.

    3. There are strong reasobs why Spiller might be a good candidate to be at least as viable a plan B as the three young potential heir apparents.

    A. Spiller's rep demands he be on the field- He is a top 10 choice for a reason and he has to get a chunk of touches in order to make this a reasonable choice.

    B. Touches are gonna be harder to get at RB where Spiller is at best #2 behind Jackson and the #3 is a former Pro Bowler.

    C. He had reasonable output as a receiver in college and his write ups specifically site him as a threat to line up wide at WR. Reggie Bush is an example often sited about how to use him productively.

    D. His small size has folks questioning already whether he is a 3 down RB.

    4. There are great strategic advantages to using him as a WR.

    1. If he is used regularly as split end, it forces opposing teams to deal with two WRs who both demand a very fast CB or a double cover over and under.

    A. Spiller's speed on the opposite side from Evans automatically makes Evans have more shots as simply dting Evana becomes more difficult to dicey for a DC to do. Either you single cover Evans and do not cover him tight or you over and under both him tight under with someone over if he runs a fly. You almost have to do the same with Spiller. He will have run a few fly patterns (and even better catch some long passes and even better score some TDs in order to make folks respect him, but the Evans/Spillrer set is scary fast. The Jets will likely give Revis one on one with Evans a lot the first game but Gailey should at least challenge this by splitting out Spiller and throwing to him a lot at WR.

    B. Spiller has already show his broken field running ability in college. Pro athletes are bigger and faster and Spiller will need help finding space as a pro. Quick passes, near illegal picks, and slant patterns are ways to get Spiller the ball in space to him without him having to run past people like he did in college.

    C. The Bills are showing signs already that an assumption of a trade of Lynch may not happen. Unless the Bills start running the wishbone its hard for me to see how they get all three RBs on the field at the same time without using Spiller as a WR. If all three are on the field at the same time it presents real challenges for the DC.

If I am Gailey I am working hard on getting Spiller in the game as my #2 WR.

    come on man be serious!

the guy is a great freaking running back who can catch the ball. at least act like you know something about the guy even if you dont as is evidenced by this stupid comment.

they will use him in a myriad of ways in the passing game ,out of the backfield and in the slot and yes once in a while he will be split wide but you can bet your last dollar he will NOT be a starting # 2 receiver. he's a great freaking running back the best in the country.

to say he is going to be our #2 receiver is flat out stupid.

lastly who says he is behind jackson and lynch as a running back are you out of your freaking head. is CJ behind jackson and lynch.

well CJ and spiller are the same type of back they are like mirrors of each other. they said the same things you are saying about CJ in regards to his size when he came out of collage thats why CJ dropped so far. well spiller didnt drop for a reason even with his size and you know why its because running backs like him are a very rare piece of property.

he has unbelievable running ability and elite speed then he is equally adept(better than CJ )at catching the ball. there are not many running backs like that. players like that come out once every 10 years.

the talent level of spiller as a running back compared to jackson or lynch are not even on the same planet. really man give me a break. your comments get nuttier by the minute.

christ when he was picked gruden called him the best player in the draft and said he would be OROY.

#2 receiver really ridiculous comment just incredabilly ridiculous!

  18. This article speaks directly to those who have complained about not picking up guys like Gaither or McNeill. They're simply not going that way. They have a plan, and the plan is to build through the draft.

“I think it’s very similar,” Whaley said. “I think it’s one of those things where there’s an emphasis on building through the draft and establishing a foundation. That’s how you can consistently compete for championships. I see that that’s what we’re doing here. We’re not trying to get a quick fix in free agency, not over drafting to force a square peg in a round hole when we can just get the best player available. You can never have too many good players even at one position.

That also, with his reference to avoiding the quick fix, is yet another - very sub rosa as always - admission that we're rebuilding and that it's going to take a while.

And here's where he points out his FA strategy:

“I just see the blueprint being laid here that I’m comfortable with and used to and have subscribed to for the last 11 years,” he said. “Go out and get solid contributing veterans that can start and will be here for most of their contracts and draft the best players available. And that’s the recipe that once I heard that from Buddy and Chan I signed on and they haven’t deviated from that plan since they got here." He compares it to Pittsburgh's methods and makes it clear that it's because Buffalo was going in the same direction that he came to Buffalo.

    There you have it.

    http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-3...c0-c7ca9a662dd5

I love Gaither, but it's obvious that we're not going to get him or anyone like him. We're going to hope that one of our guys, Wang or Bell, will grow into the position, and if that doesn't happen, we'll draft someone else. And with this method, we're likely to draft high next year, so we should have a shot at some good players next year.

No more "We should get [insert high-ticket FA's name here] threads, hunh?

Too much to expect, I guess.

actually i disagree with you gaither comment. a player like him is just the type of talent they want. the problem with him is his character and lack of a work ethic and IMO the price was to high for a player with his questionable work ethic.

  19. Brohm will be named the starter going into training camp. That's my gut feeling.

then our season will be doomed.

think of what your saying. LAST YEAR he was drafted in the second round and cut, didnt make the 53 man roster.

31 teams passed on him and he went on their practice squad.

now 6 months later he's had a prefound transformation and is going to be the bills starting QB,we are screwed if thats the case.

the whole NFL cannot be freaking wrong and a guy cannot change in a half a year.
